I tried installing the HTC sync manager to my computer to get the drivers but I still get the mtp driver not installed message. My computer does not have internet so I'm trying to get my phone to connect to tether. Any help?

Try setting up your drivers again? There is a guide by BTDAG somewhere. Try searching " HTC hero set up drivers x86 x64"

I played around with the drivers, I managed to get it connected and the update started, but as soon as the phone screen when white(boot mode i presume) the update client on pc started counting up to 100 and then disconnected with the same error as before.
Time to try an xp machine then I think.

Just enable USB-Tethering on your phone. After some time you should be able to find a device named 'SAMSUNG Mobile USB Remote NDIS Network Device' in the device manager of your PC. You should then be able to use the phones data connection from your PC.
Thanks again for some reason just says Android Samsung then I got kies n it found it then when I teather blue screen even more problems now n kies don't even connect at least my mobiles running smooth

for those with litening rom or anyone else, when I try to tether my telstra internet from my mobile on my pc i get the message that there has been a problem installing the device, and when i look at device manager is says:
"SAMSUNG Mobile USB Remote NDIS Network Device #2" it has a yellow exclamation point symbol next to it and says "device cannot start"
anyone know how to fix this issue?
is it just simply a matter of trying to find a driver?
I don't think the error you get is related to the ROM but I might be wrong. I have attached two screenshots of my USB driver, maybe this helps.
I do not have Kies installed as I don't use it. I use only the USB drivers provided by SamHaLeKe which you can find here.
thanks, fxrb I will update try that and update kies aswell
I cannot for the life of me get the device drivers for this ATT one X+ to work with me.
if i adb devices there aren't any listed. so obviously, when using the all in one kit, or trying manually, i am unable to reboot to flash the recovery.
i'm a bit scared to do it manually.
any help out there?
EDIT: never did get that fixed,
but i did manage to flash the recovery without it.
Are you on windows 8? I had a hell of a time installing the HTC drivers on windows 8.

for drivers issue:
install HTC Sync manager (it includes win8 compatible drivers)
the Sync manager can deinstalled without touching the drivers
I am on win8 pro. I just installed HTC sync from the HTC website.
I did not bother to un-install the extra stuff. I just rebooted manually during rooting.
I installed htc sync, htc sync manager, htc driver installer from all in one kit, all on Windows 7. Nothing.

first of all you need to be more specific. what operating system is your computer using? do you have the htc drivers installed for your device? how do you have the usb computer connection options configured in the 'storage' menu portion, is it set as Camera (PTP) or Media Device (MTP) or mass storage? are you trying to get an adb connection to your device from the pc? a fastboot connection? what exactly are you trying to do when you plug the phone into the computer?
So until maybe a day or two ago, I was fine using MTP on my HTC ONE, but today I went to use it, and apparently the device isn't recognized. I have tried installing HTC Sync Manager, as well as updating the driver using both USB MTP and HTC MTP drivers, and also reinstalling the driver. However when I do anything I get a timeout error. Does anyone know what the problem might be?
Thank You
