OTG Host mode - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

I've been searching for months now on this and had no luck. I'm running the s2 s959g ( straight talk model) which is similar to the i777 model, paranoid rom , and sti kernel. I've made my otg cable but I can't seem to find a kernel that supports it. Any suggestions?

I know Shostock supports it, and I am pretty sure Mr.Cook's will too. You need a Samsung based ROM for OTG. This will limit you to 4.1.2 ROMS I believe.

Well snap that's where I was going wrong. Didn't know it was limited to Samsung based Roms only. Really thought it was just something that had to do with the kernel thanks for that!

I'm new to s2

Heys guy I just brought a S2 and it will arrive in 4 more days, been using a x10i and has been rooting and installing custom rom.
Now I'm new to S2, any thing in particular that I should know?
What is the Original Android Development and the Android Development difference?
Which is the some of the recommended ROM (no bugs, don't want MIUI) since there's really a lot custom rom compared to my previous x10i.
And one more question, what is the price of the HDTV Adapter? Can I connect S2 to a just HD ready tv with hdmi port? Or it must be a full HD tv?

Original android is supposed to be ASOP tweaks/roms whereäs the other has to do with touchwiz (I believe, but then again I've seen threads crossposted in the wrong section all the time). As for ROMs, I would personally stay far away from the ICS ROMs because they're nowhere near ready for daily use; there are many bugs and problems. When looking through firmwares there's no difference between XW and XX other than the countries that the ROM was released into, you can still flash these ROMs for use anywhere in the world. Personally I'm using XXKK5 because KL1 and above are developer builds with inconsistent framework changes. CheckROM KK5 is what I suggest for a stable ROM that works good. I also highly recommend JKay deluxe. CM7 is also an option, but I personally had problems with charging and was forced off the ROM. Your mileäge may vary. Also there are a ton of radio firmwares available: try out the latest revision and take note of your battery usage over a few days. Try others to see which works best for you. There's no real "golden" radio firmware. I personally use KH3 on AT&T in Phoenix.

If you wanna to try ICS ROMs, I will suggest you try simplistic. Now I use it as daily rom and I feel it's good enough.
And if you want to use HDTC Adapter , I suggest you stay in Stock Rom first. As I know, most custom roms don't support HDMI output.
There are no recommended roms. Try some out for yourself & see how you find them. A rom that works well for me will not necessarily give you the same experience.
for my opinion i suggest you flash cm7
but if like the intersting things, just flash cm7/andyX

Have you tried wiping and reinstalling the ROM
Ricey
wait for cm9, i've tried the devel vers and is very fast!
Just a suggestion
Hiya! Well, since you haven't got your phone yet, I would suggest you play around with your stock ROM first. The Original Android Development is for AOSP ROMs, ROMs that were created from scratch. The Android Development section is for custom tweaked versions of the stock ROM if I'm not mistaken.
I'm currently using Simplistic ICS but it has its fair share of bugs. You might wanna try insanity ii. It's a nice AOSP ROM. Never had FC's and it's amazingly fast and battery life is great. Good luck!
Hi bud, good choice of phone. If you want best standard ginger bread go to original development and flash intratech KK5 original Sammy ROM it's seamless!!!
Or, like me and you want to jump into ICS go to www.darkyrom.com and flash facieto's ICS LP2 THEN on top of that, upgrade to his LP6! Came out this week and it's seamless and crash free, all works!

try rewipe and reinstall ?
As I know, to get someone call your phone just solve the home-button issues.
I never met lock screen problem. I am using RC5 + Update 2 , try this combination. Also remember , don't directly flash update package after installation. Following these steps: Install RC5 - (reboot) - Install Update 1 - (reboot) - Install Update 2 - (reboot) - Call from others phone to unlock home button.
Hope this help. Good Luck , bro.
after you have root download k tool right away and backup efs, it could savr your ass some day

Is it only the stock rom support HDMI output, all custom rom doesn't support?
Or is there any custom rom that is based on stock rom and also does support HDMI output?

Stock ROM, or any ROM based on stock. It needs the Samsung framework. So nothing that is pure AOSP (such as CM or MIUI) will work. If you want a ROM that is as close to AOSP as possible that still supports the MHL adapter, try GingerMOD.

See above, but there are many others. I don't personally use any of them (I'm still on stock, rooted, modded myself), so I can't recommend one above any others. It's a personal preference anyways, so you should just try some and decide yourself.

It is one of many methods, and one that I can personally vouch that it works, as I've used it before. Just use the correct insecure kernel for your build.

Problem for displaying screen on TV

Hi,
I've bought a MHL/HDMI cable for displaying SII screen on TV. Unfortunately I only get a blocked image!
As recommended, my cable is linked to the charger and I also disabled "USB debbuging".
Any idea? Thanks in advance!
Which Rom are you running? Only Samsung based roms have full MHL functionality. Aosp doesnt have at all, and Aokp is rather problematic.

It quite clearly states bugs, which if you bothered to read includes all CM9 bugs. I presume the "dev" means CM10 but both don't support MHL anyway.

I don't understand why you would need bluetooth drivers; I'm prettry sure that whatever rom you're running has bluetooth included.... what rom are you running? Are you sure you have an I777? Are you sure it's not the device you're attempting to connect to that has a problem?

Thanks for responding. I am running AOKP JB 4.1.2. Yes, I am sure I have an I777. No, I am not sure it is not the device. I am pretty sure the rom I flashed (the one just before the most recent) included new BT drivers. I am having issues with all my BT devices. Issues I didn't have before, on the AOKP ICS rom. I just wanted to try the original drivers from the stock rom or something else to see if that clears up my issues.

I am using the Fluxii kernel that came with the rom.
Why not just flash a different Rom ? If the current one isn't doing what you need, try another. There's a bunch out there. There's a good chance this could fix your issue. But I've never personally experienced issues involving Bluetooth and AOKP, always been stable for me.

Don't get me wrong, I like the AOKP rom. Well, I could try a different rom, do all roms include different bluetooth drivers? I have never seen a thread listing which ones are where... I also stated in the second post of mine that it still could be the devices I am using. I will seriously consider a different rom, thanks.

[Q] GT-i9100 Kernel on SGH-i777 What happens?

Sorry if i posted this when there's another thread out there with the same info but I searched and didn't find any. You could run an i9100 rom with their kernel, but certain things wouldn't work properly - buttons being one of them as you mentioned. You'd also run into microphone issues, which is one of the reasons why our "portable" kernels are called Mic-Swap. Forget using their kernels anyway, nearly all of them are no longer supported and our AJK is better or just-as-good than any of theirs ever was, so why not use that one to port?
I would recommend you read up on porting before you actually flash any of their stuff, just so you know what to do/expect in the event of a bootloop or bad flash.
Good luck, and welcome to rom porting!

Thank you SteveMutphy, I've been using a Samsung Infuse 4G for over about a year now and its been my android lab rat, tried many things bricked it many times (even on porpose) n brought it back to life with Odin. Had to move on though cause the infuse wasn't up to the speed that I want it at.
I'll check out the AJK kernel , just need something that supports CPU and GPU overclocking cause I'm a android gamer most times.
