1. What update are you trying to install?
2. What do you have set up now?
3. stock or custom bootloader?

Here's what I have....
I have a new HTC One, stock Android operating system. Since getting the phone, I been having problems in stalling System Updates.
On the 1st one, I talked to T-Mobile and eventually they had me do a factory reset and somehow that got the 1st update to install.
Now I have another update and even after doing a factory reset it still won't install! I keep getting a red triangle.....
So what do I have to do to get the update to install?

Since it sounds like youre 100% stock unrooted, I would take it in to a store. Might be defective.

For future reference, I'm pretty sure this is not considered development.
The moderators will eventually close the thread for you.
to update this kinda stuff when youre rooted with CWM, it says install failed after i tried to update.... how would i normally get updates on a rooted gs3??
Just like you would stock
Mine tried installing but cwm stopped it of course. My PRL was messed up afterwards. Kept getting error #67 so I had to restore to stock rom with Odin. All fixed now.

Same issue, same question.
I'm guessing that since we made modification to the system ie removed system apps or whatever, that's the cause of it not working? I looked around and I couldn't find the OTA in any system folder, so I now wonder if anyone has the OTA in a flashable .zip.

It didn't work because we don't have the stock recovery installed. You'd have to flash the stock recovery back before running the update for it to work. I don't see any stock recovery .md5's posted though so I'm not sure how you'd go back to it short of a full restore.

How can you tell if the update took? I no longer get the notification but where can I check for the change?
I did the return to full stock using the epiccm teams method, got the update and it installed fine. Now I'm having trouble trying to boot into CWM after flashing it through odin. Just boot loops using the three finger method unless i just let it boot up normal.

"The update contains a file that will reflash the stock recovery every single time you reboot your phone if the digital signature doesn't match" is probably whats creating the bootlooping. install the root friendly update thats being uploaded atm...
edit: are you using the new v4 recovery? might want to flash that in odin if your using the old one..
Anybody know what the update is for or fixes? I got the notification but I'm not installing it since I'm rooted LOL

Yes, I got the latest one from their blog.
Edit: I posted this in another thread, but was finally able to get into CWM by just leaving auto reboot checked when flashing recovery in odin, then just holding volume up and home after the phone vibrates. No need to hold the power button.

[Q] ICS OTA refuses to install

I unrooted, installed stock ROM and downloaded the OTA ics but when I clicked OK to install it the phone rebooted, showed the unpacking symbol, progressed about 1/4 inch and then stopped with the error symbol.
Hitting the power button reboots into recovery, rebooted and went through the same thing.
I wondered if the download was faulty so next time I was in recovery I wiped and rebooted, re-downloaded the ICS update with the same results.
I thought I'd install the OTA ICS before trying to sell the phone but how can I? Anyone know what's wrong?
Temporary fix: Removed SIM, put SIM back in Galaxy S3 and all is well but that doesn't help the T'bolt get updated!
The ota won't apply to the stock Rom if you have any system apps removed.

I've done nothing to the stock ROM other than install it. When setup starts I selected English, skipped on ahead and went to setting, clicked stay awake, etc. and then downloaded the ROM.
NOTE: I unrooted, I can't remove any system apps can I?
Well my next suggestion would be to use the all-in-one tool to root, unlock and get s off. Flash the new radios, and then flash the official ics Rom in the development section.

I thought of that but that puts me back where I was yesterday, I don't know why but I really don't like to sell a rooted phone, I'd prefer getting it back to stock.....
OTOH I hate to spend more time with it...
I didn't realize you were selling it. Put it on swappa. Sell it rooted.

I guess I'll have to, I'll probably put NuSenseX on it, that's what was on it when I unrooted..... Might as well give the buyer a nice present.
Damn, another project for tomorrow, still got a scooter to finish wiring...

[Q] How to update to OTA 2.04.605.2 710RD

So currently I am pre-OTA 2.04.605.2 710RD, and I heard that this update fixes the SIM card issues. My phone has been plagued with this shortly after I got it. Currently it is rooted with S-Off, however I don't really use the feature much, my phone is pretty bone stock minus ClockworkMod and the menu button mod. I'm sick of the SIM card error and would like to update, however the install always fails in ClockworkMod (that's where it goes after rebooting) so my question is how can I update now, and just wait for S-off or root to become available later?
Put the stock recovery on and install the ota. Then reinstall cwm

I would gladly take you up on that offer, but I have my phone setup the way I need it, and I use it as a GPS a lot. It's hard to use it when the SIM error comes up 2-3 times a week.

Unfortunately that has not worked for me, and I have had the SIM card replaced. I've heard the update fixes SIM card detection issues. Is this true? I still can't get it to install.

[Q] Global Update install failure...

The global update for the Rezound is failing installation for me.
The update has been downloaded seven times OTA and has failed installation every time on my phone.
My phone's current version is:
Android version: 4.0.3
HTC Sense version: 3.6
Software number: 3.14.605.13 710RD
Baseband version: 1.22.10.042lr, 1.22.10.0424r
The downloaded OTA version: ADR6425LVW_4.05.605.14-3.14.605.13
It successfully downloads the file, reboots into "Android system recovery", and displays the following error...
RA Revamped...
Build : RA-VIGOR-v3.16-getitnowmarketing
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Installing update...
wrong taskid 221384E:Error in /cache/fumo/OTAPkg.zip
(Status 1)
Installation aborted.
The phone's bootloader is relocked and "S-OFF".
I've also deleted the OTAPkg.zip file from /cache/fumo, and the "fumo" directory itself, and re-downloaded the OTAPkg.zip file but it still failed installation.
The OTAPkg.zip file is 217,141,266 bytes in size.
The resetting of my phone and getting it hung in the Android System Recovery every few hours is getting annoying.
Anybody have any ideas on how to get this fixed and the Global update successfully installed?
Thanks,
Dan

Thanks for the info. I had forgotten that I had previously flashed the amon-ra recovery. As suggested, I flashed the rezound stock recovery and the darn OTA update still wouldn't flash. The phone gave me a similar error message as before. I then flashed the entire 3.14.605.12 OTA release just to get a known stable release. The phone boots and reports that an OTA is available (to go from 3.14.605.12 to 3.14.605.13), but then times out while trying to download the firmware and gives the following error: "SERVICE UNAVAILABLE Check for Software Update under Settings when service is available". The Status reports Download Failed, Code 503. It's late, I'm giving up for the night.

I posted instructions for how to flash firmware.zip while s-on in the other global thread
You will need firmware.zip (linked to in that thread), a nandroid backup, your HTC unlock code, and possibly a coy of the stock HTC recovery.

Brenuga, thanks for the instructions. If I'm S-on, locked and running stock recovery and the global leak and wanted to end up in the same configuration but with the new firmware, would I just fastboot erase cache and then fastboot flash zip firmware.zip?

You also have to do fastboot oem rebootRUU before you can flash firmware.zip, and remember to flash it again after it errors out the first time.
You may lose your current boot.img so have it ready to flash after updating firmware or else you will bootloop.

please have pity on me. i don't even know what s-on or s-off mean. all the tech jargon is confusing.
My rezound is rooted, but just so i can use it as a wifi hotspot. never done anything else to it.
it keeps on rebooting and fails to install this new update. my recovery screen says exactly what the OP's did.
i don't want to wipe my phone just for a stupid update. i'm not convinced that i even need an update. how can i stop it from updating or doing this?
in an unrelated note, is there a way i could hack my rezound so that i don't have to pull the stupid ring and deal with the lock screen?
can't i just press the unlock/power button and be on the home screen? just tell me what thread and keywords to search for, thanks!
Thanks to all you guys! this forum has helped me use my rezound's 4g for my laptop and tablet all over the country.

If you don't want the update, just download titanium backup, find the apps called OTAUpdater and 'freeze' the apps to keep them from running. There's two ota apps, one from HTC and one from vzw
Holo locker is an alternative lock screen widget. Just install it and set lock screen security method to 'none'.

Is there another way to freeze them? I'm also not finding any app in the free version of Titanium that has OTAUpdater anywhere in the name. You can't freeze from the free version, though, and the Pro version is $6.58 in the store.

Yes, go to settings, manage apps. You still have to find app named otaupdater. In manage apps, you can 'disable' apps to keep them from running. Its the same thing as freezing.

Actually, I apologize for not just buying pro. For what these people do for us, $6.58 isn't too much too ask. I went ahead and bought it. I still am not seeing the otaupdater at all, though.

Yes, that's the one. Any other apps that say update or report are good to freeze, too. Any HTC or vzw apps you don't use. Vzw SSO you need if you use visual voicemail or my Verizon app.

Can't Update to 1.27.531.8

A month ago I recieved the 1.27.531.8 update from T-Mobile, but I haven't been able to actually update my phone since then. I've downloaded it multiple times to no avail. I'm completely stock -- everything is exactly like it was when I took it out of the box.
Alright, now the problem itself: as soon as my phone boots into stock recovery, it starts the update, then immediately comes up with the red triangle and exclamation mark above a phone icon. When I entered the recovery to see what went wrong, the transcript read "Find update package...Opening Update Package...Installation Aborted." After a while, the phone just reboots.
Every time I tried to update, the same thing happens. Completely stock, no root, stock recovery, stock ROM.
Delete old update package and redownload, if that don't work return the phone
