Hi guys,
I'm trying to make a ROM with Aroma installer. I have a folder where are all the tweaks, scripts and app that can be installed with the ROM. The problem is that when I put the folder with the ROM files and I try to flash it with the recovery (CWM), it gives me an error:
Code:
E:Can't open /sdcard/update.zip
(bad)
Installation aborted.
But if I remove this folder of the zip file, the installer starts normally.
Can someone help me fixing this?
Here is the folder that gives me the error: http://www.mediafire.com/download/i6a6lxlp7943m9i/customize.zip
Thank you!!

Hello,
I have 2.73.405.38 WWE ROM on my HTC Hero(unlocked, gsm), how can I root it? Did a lot of google, none of the methods I found work, with errors like "FAILED (remote: not allow)" or "Backup FAILED: Could not run command.". Ideas?
Thank you!
Follow my guide and try the gold card method.

Ok, I did goldcard, downgraded to 405.05, did flashrec and RA-1.6.2, downloaded villain4beta2 ROM. In ROM there are 3 folders and boot.img file, uploaded to SD card, renamed the boot.img to update.zip, doing the home+power button, did all the wipes, and then when i try to 'flash zip from sdcard' it comes out with error "Can't open /sdcard/update.zip (bad), Installation aborted." Why?
don't extract the zip!! Copy it to the SD-Card and flash it....
You don't need to extract anything, just copy the zip file to the sdcard and flash it.
it worked! thank you guys

Installation aborted

get the update.zip from there ??
either get rom manager and flash clockwork then go to recovery and reinstall packages twice or get the update.zip from the link above and reinstall packages twice and that'll take you to clockwork recovery
you sound like you have stock froyo - which means you have the 3E stock recovery.
I suggest following my guide (signature - noobs).
EDIT - ha, just realize Kyle already linked to it, thanks man.
Attempting to install Acclaim CM7 and CM9 from SD boot card.
Choose zip from sdcard
acclaim_unsigned_sd_hd.zip
I receive the following error:
Installing update...
E:Error in /sdcard/acclaim_unsigned_sd_hd.zip
(Status 5)
Installation aborted.
Any ideas as to why it won't install?
Can you link the thread/location where you got that file?
I got it from Succulent and his blog.

He has been very helpful to me as I tried complete the setup and install of the files. Now I'm at this point of the install, installing the zip files, and I've run into this "status 5" issue...
I'm have SS 3.65 and am running CM 10.1.3.
I'm trying to flash the JBX kernel, but when flashing the kernel, I get the error:
E:Error executing updater binary in zip '/sdcard/JBX-K....
Error flashing zip
Updating partition details
E: Unable to mount '/osh'
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Examine the zip file and make sure that the contents of the kernel isn't living in its own folder. In other words, when you open the zip file, you should see the kernel files (and any accompanying folders) immediately. If you don't, copy/paste the contents of the kernel file into a brandy new folder (created outside of the zip), zip that folder, and then try to flash using your newly created zip file. As for the osh error, don't worry about it; it doesn't (seem) to matter.
I have a Z17 Phone and i trying to install new rom, Mokee 90.0. In twrp 3.3.1-0 installation operation error: "Invalid zip file format! Error installing zip file '/sdcar.....'
