Hi Everyone,
I'm going to be purchasing an Unlocked Atrix 4G with the Lapdock for it.
The Atrix 4G runs Android 2.3, but can run Icecream Sandwhich and Jellybean using a Custom ROM.
I have a few questions which I've been looking to solve for some time now.
1) Does the Lapdock have HDMI Out, or just the phone? (And does the lapdock disable HDMI out?)
2) Does the Lapdock work Custom ROMs? (It'd be nice to use it with Android 4, rather than 2.3). I'd prefer WebTop but Mirroring is okay.
3) Do custom ROMs support the Motorola Travel Adapter Kit (Micro HDMI to VGA adapter for projectors, supports Atrix 4G)
Thanks!

Any custom ROM with the 3.1.10 kernel does not have any HDMI access, and thus no mirroring as well.

Hey there. Can anybody confirm what happens when you attempt to use HDMI mirroring with the lapdock? More specifically, does the lapdock retain trackpad and keyboard functionality on the Atrix, even without webtop? It would also be helpful to mention if you are on a Blurred or CM -based ROM.
I kind of want to get one of these lapdocks since they're so cheap now, but I would much rather use the phone itself without all that webtop crap getting in my way.
Thanks!
does not work.

does this ripoff cable work or not?

Does your ROM support hdmi? I know a lot of custom ROMs don't support it.

Can you upload some pics? Maybe i can do something for you.
I loaded a leaked ICS rom with Webtop 3.0 beta on my Razr Maxx, got a HD dock with 3 USB ports, a KVM switch, and a micro hdmi to VGA adapter and hooked it all up.

Thats good usage! I tried with t-mob leak on webtop and gmail was just blown up rather than the tablet version. Am I missing a setting?
Update: found it!! Typical ics.
When you open gmail, bottom right is a maximise type icon. This flicks from phone to tablet mode. This is available for a few apps.

Bit of a nooby question :silly: but i can't find the answer anywhere (or a straight one as i keep finding missing details). Does anyone one have a current full list of all phones that legitimately support the webtop application?
Any help would be appreciated regarding this.
Any Motorola smartphone with 1GB of RAM and HDMI output, there may be more but this should cover most if not all.

On Gingerbread Webtop is Ubuntu running on top of Android, but Webtop under ICS is just ICS in tablet mode.
Canocial/Ubuntu are working on their own version of Webtop that developers may be able to integrate into ROMs for any device someday once source code is out.
hello there, i just bought a HD entertainment center and a lapdock for my atrix 4g and i was wondering if i must stay with GB rom (i have bell's stock rom) or i can change it for a ICS/JB rom, and continue using my lapdock and HD entertainment center via HDMI?, what would you recoment?
I'd recommend you do some searching and reading since all of this has been answered already.
In short: stay with GB.
