Hey guys,
Does anyone know if Steal25 or anyone for that matter has been working on removing app associations from any of the 3.16.xxx roms that are out now? Of course, we all want it back the old way but I am saddened that the last rom I used with FApple baked in (MeanBEAN 2.09) has gone the way of the dog since MikeyXDA moved on to other projects.
I would really like to see a complete sense 5 port with FApple baked in. I know I'm a noob, but damn, I would love to help out in some way. (Learning, Testing, Tweaking)
Also, does anyone know if the HTC One is in the same boat from stock, my wife is planning on buying one today.
Are you referring to this?

Read the end of the OP. I hope that this helps you out in your search.

I'll definitely look into it. I would have loved to pull it off on MeanBEAN but MikeyXDA moved on. There is another dev's ROM I am impressed with but he's not around these parts anymore either.
I tried to pull of the edits myself but no dice there, because the build.prop would switch back to the original settings. Maybe there is something I am doing wrong.

So, I don't know if anyone else has tried this or would even care, but I really love the look of Joelz Senseless (like the battery, wifi, 4g symbol), but I'm not a fan of Senseless ROMs. So, thanks to Joelz Senseless ROM being so similar to his Sense version, I pulled the framework-res.apk and SystemUI.apk from the Senseless version. Then I pushed those files to the Sense version. Boom...Best of both worlds Just thought I would post it in case someone wants to try it. Didn't want to derail either thread with this. So far, nothing has blown up and everything works. If you get 2 clocks, you need to remove the one in Lee Droid tweaks. You can't have a centered clock anymore, but it's worth it to me.
EDIT: For those of you who try this, you will probably have to readd your Google accounts and stuff. IF you get any errors where it says account already exists, just go to apps and clear the data. You'll then have all the greatness of Sense and Senseless
good find, thanks will try

This might be a solution to getting the 3dclockwidget, calender, and weatherwidget while having the look of a desensed ICS rom. unless if someone know a better work around.
Hey guys, I recently upgraded to the Amaze from the venerable HD2 & one of the things that I've noticed (glaringly) is how little development is going on for the Amaze, esp. compared to that old device!
I had briefly tinkered w/ a Rezound while considering switching to Page Plus but settled on a T-Mo monthly plan. Anyway, needless to say, I've been disappointed in the output of new ROMs.
My question is (& by no means am I a developer, just an end-user), it seems there are a lot of similarities between the Rezound & Amaze (besides CDMA & screen resolution). And Rezound development seems to be humming along. Is it possible to do some ROM development from a Rezound base (esp. GSM varieties) to kick start things for the Amaze?
I did some searching but only came upon this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1688761&highlight=rezound
Any thoughts?
The biggest problem we have in the amaze community is HTC isn't releasing any source info for WiFi and bluetooth making it hard to troubleshoot kernel related problems. The next thing is we don't have working data on AOSP the great devs we do have figured it's a messed up ril file but there time is full with school and life. Faux is doing the best he can with kernel development and sport and eclipze are rocking out roms.

I see. Please excuse my noobness but can't we take the necessary & working stock files & use them in custom ROMs, say, from a Rezound? I know I've got to be oversimplifying it!
Gosh I wish I were a developer! I'm sure my questions wouldn't be so ignorant & tedious ha!
Thanks by the way!
Different phones have different files to make certain hardware run. So a ril file that works on a rezound probably wouldn't work because the internals are all different. Our WiFi and BT chips have no source released for them and data is a *****.

I meant taking a known/working file(s) from a stock Amaze ROM & using it in a custom Rezound ROM. Anyway, I know it can't be that simple haha.
But hey, Peter, thanks for taking the time.

Yeah not that simple. Anytime.
I'm not sure what here does/doesn't work well with the Virgin Mobile Evo V. My girlfriend's getting one and I want to root it, remove bloat, and optimize it. Whats the best rom that keeps all VM features working, doesn't break any 3D stuff, and is better than the factory shipped stuff?
I would say Harmonia would be a good choice. Midnight ROM might also fit the bill. Those are the only VM roms I know of that have 3D working completely.
I've heard good things about those roms. They're not available here afaik, but you can find them with a Google search.
I would also like to add that if your thread gets locked, don't be surprised. Due to moderator preference these types of threads best rom, kernel or mod are discouraged. If that has changed please somebody let me know. Just a heads up.
We have a thread for these types of questions. Go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1950596
what i've learned thus,
I don't like to see see apple, samsung, google monoplizing the smartphone biz. So we got try and keep Htc alive competativeIy. I recently sold a gnex and bought a Evo Lte with a broken camera. (I found out the ribbon gets unplugged and has taken apart and reasembled.)
So the stepsI I used to get unlocked/rooted/s-off are update all factory firmware/rom. Unlock/recovery via windy kids toolkit. 2.09 hboot 3.16-17 Then moonshine s-off. I got stuck with test 3 dots on windows. Managed to get it to work on lunbuntu linux. So when You get the twrp recovery save the stock 3.17 back it up so u can use it with #'s carrier settings, then you are free to try other roms.
As far as custom roms go to escape bloatware I've found 4.3 with gapps to be unstable. 4.2 builds are the way to go I got rootbox on now. Just with my screen was amoled instead of LCD to take advatage of the blackness. Going white wallpaper or maybe try Avatar 4.2.2

As far as kernels go, I finally got Golden Kernel on my Gnex after many trials and it greatly improved performance. I've heard of we have kernel switching problems and anykernel helps, but info is sparse. If somebody with skills can make this work for us it would awesome.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2175650
That was a Jeeko kernel. I like to stream adobe flash in a floating browser. Problem is it is unstable until I flashed this.

This might be interesting if I had any idea what you were trying to say
I am going to close this thread.
It is a bit incoherent and nebulous. It appears as though you are suggesting the developer of "golden kernel" develop said kernel for the ELTE?
If so you may want to PM him, as suggesting this to the community would do little good, especially because if the developer does not develop for the ELTE he would have no reason to view this thread.
Kernel development is not easy work, and if the developer does not own this phone then it would not make sense for him to just start developing a kernel for it, but crazier things have happened.
I suggest maybe you visit XDA-University and see about learning to develop yourself, perhaps you could make the next Golden Kernel for the Evo LTE!
Then again, if I completely missed what you were saying, then that could be due to the first point I mentioned.
I would really appreciate some help with a project that I am hoping to start soon. I would REALLY like to get Sense launcher (Rosie) working on a non-HTC phone, specifically the ZTE Force 4g. I am asking for help from Droid Incredible 4g devs, because of the similarity of the platforms.
Both phones are MSM8690, both LTE, both 1GB ram, both are stock ICS 4.0.3.
What I don't know is how well this might go. That's where I need your expertise!
You see, I am sort of an HTC junkie. My last 4 phones were HTC's and I am very used to the Sense UI. There is not a whole lot of development going on for my phone (you can check it out on androidforums.com in the ZTE Force 4G - All Things Root forum).. Basically there is a CM10 port which lacks bluetooth and wifi capability, the stock rom, a rooted debloated stock rom (DroidForce, which is nice btw, and what I plan to use for a base). Also, a JB rom which is so new that pretty much nothing works. The Kernel sources for my phone JUST got released, and many are using the matrix kernel ported from the Avid. I feel that it would be good to add a little variety for ZTE Force users, and if I can bring together a Sense modded ROM for the community it would be nice.
Yes, I know that Sense is not often ported to other platforms due to the difficulty, and this thread will hopefully help me assess the doability of the project.
My first question, for those of you in the know, is what is the kernel version of the first stock rom on Droid Incredible 4g? If it is 3.0.8 then that is another thing that these phones share in common.
My first Sense related question is also about the kernel. Are there dependencies (modules, whatever) in the HTC kernel that are required for sense to work? I have read that there may be but have not seen this confirmed.
Next question would be about the screen resolution. The Force 4g is 480x800 while Incredible 4G is 540x960, both are 4". If this did theoretically make it to the point of testing, will the launcher screens and icons scale automatically, or will each graphic have to be resized? If resized, how complicated would that get?
Aside from the possibility of kernel dependencies, the next most important question is, "What exactly do I need?" This is where I would probably need the most help from you guys. If this is even possible to attempt, I don't know which frameworks I would need to add, what apks and files to rip from the Incredible 4g rom. All of the very detailed stuff which I know some of you guys know, I will need to learn.
I know probably most of you might possibly think that this idea is dumb and just say "Buy an HTC", but because of budgetary constraints I could not get a 4g HTC and use it on my carrier (Boost btw). I have the HTC Evo design 4G and it was on Boost but it's WiMax and we all know that is a dead duck.
So is anyone willing to give me some answers to the questions above? If there is a possibility of this working (any version of Sense would be fine) then I would greatly appreciate some guidance! I'd really rather not go the route of another launcher skinned like sense. That seems lame to me. Plus, I dig a challenge!
Thanks for taking the time to read and I thank you in advance for any responses!
Cheers!

Guess I'll just dive into this on my own..
