Android 4.3 - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So today I've read some news saying that is true that Samsung will ditch the 4.2.2 update in favor of the 4.3 update, bringing all those cool features like T.R.I.M and Open GL 3.0, my question for you guys is, when do you think we will see this update? Thank you for your response

[Q] What will happen to CM with ICS?

Will CM need to change all its code to suit ICS, perhaps to a new CM version? I've always liked how CM keeps android up to date...
Also, what new features will CM be able to do over stock android ICS?

No more releases?

It's about one month i cannot see any new "stock" release. LA4 (2.3.6) and LPB (4.0.1) are the last I can find. What is happening at Samsung? Are they working on some new hardware and spending more effort on it? Or do they think this is the best they can do? IMHO there is still a lot of work to do.
Is there someone with fresh news?
UPDATES:
1) Gingerbread will have more updates
2) Icescream Sandwitch first official release will be at the end of March
3) there are rumors about a US official ICS release at 1 of March
2012/02/16
Last ICS released is LPH
2012/02/26
Last gingerbread released is LB2

1 month and you're writing them off? You clearly think this is a simple thing to do. Perhaps you should show them how it's done?

Jeez if you read the 7 million posts on here you will see that Android 4 is due for release soon . Hardly likely that Samsung will update 2.3.6 though networks may still update as that are always behind .
ICS has not yet been released .
jje
The official release of ics is near and so:
1.there's no need to release 2.3.6 updates!!
2.the next ics leak should be the first official update!!!
Hope this helped

And this helped too.
In conclusion the opinion is that gingerbread will have no more upgrades and we must wait till the end of March for the first stable IceScream Sandwitch Sgs2 release.
Personally I hoped Samsung would have been releasing some more Ics beta test releases to give evidence of their immense work and in the same time they would have been bringing that experience on gingerbread, has they did till last releases.
I will copy these Infos on the first post and I will keep it updated for more news.

I cannot understand you're point of view: I asked a question. Someone answered. Some one others say this thread is no sense. The fact is that the infos I'm asking for are very interesting and not so easy to find among million of threads. Having a thread whose first post says: next Ics will be released on ... Or: next gingerbread will be released on ... IMHO is really very useful. Moreover if you can really find these infos so fastly pls tell me what is that thread that have this info as first post.

I know unless a tenth of threads about Ics, and Intratech thread about stock release.
They have convinced me starting this thread. I was daily looking at these threads and in the last month there were no news about the next release. In these threads they talk about the last release, but it is hard to know when next release will come out. I hope you are the last one I must explain that. So: if some admin think these thread is unuseful, I will accept their decision, but if not, pls ppl don't let me waste my time in these explanations ;-)

my opinion about existing ICS roms for SGS2
the last ICS rom for SG2 is XXLPH , easyly to be found in s forum
I tried many roms based on XXLPH and i think that remix 9.4 is the best
I think there will not be major improvment before a new sansung leaked rom
or a ICS MIUI
br46
SGS2 with remix 9.4

Hello, I'm new to XDA and saw this topic and have a question. I have a rooted GS3 and am runing 4.1.2 and I'm now being asked to update to kitkat. If I agree will I brick my phone or will I just lose my root?

I wanna know the same thing.. woke up to it this morning. Great question.
No one is asking you to update to kitkat, that version is not released by Samsung for the S3.
Only way to update if you are rooted is flashing or kies.
It's all in the general forum, sticky threads, go read and learn.

so instead of giving the answer or assisting, you waste just as much time explaining to us the search feature.. obviously he wouldn't ask if he knew what to do. get off your high horse.. jesus. I woke up with this morning with my phone asking me if i wanted to update to 4.3... so technically it is asking you to do something.. and if you read the question correctly he asked what would happen to his phone not how to go about updating..
You both need to read and learn instead of asking for an easy answer, which won't help you if you brick it through ignorance. You need to follow xda rules, search before posting.

To get an accurate response to this question, you should email Samsung.
You are asking a question regarding the release date of an official Samsung firmware, on a non-Samsung affiliated forum.

Android L isn't commercially released yet. When it comes expect AOSP makers (CM, Omni...) to update their base and maybe it will run fine on i9300. This is just logic thinking. You could use some.
Never, S3 is dead.
People who are saying s3 is dead they are drunk even now s2 and note 1 Are getting too many KitKat Roms and we will surely get android l based custom ROM but only after cm omni will release android l sources
