Recently, i am having a hard time pressing the power/lock button of my desire x. I had to press it twice or 3x [hard press] before the screen goes on. Unlike before, screen goes on as soon as i press the power/lock button [soft press]. Any tip/solution for this problem? Thanks in advance!
I Have the same issue, even though this might seem arrogant and a bit obvious Its usually solved by putting the back casing on properly

Are you using any protective case for desire x as I also have this problem, which appears only when I am using my silicon case and after removal there is no such problem.

I think some people talked about this in another post, and I think it's all about software, because in my phone, when I'm in stock Sense 4.1, the power button locks/unlocks softly, but when I'm in myONEdx+, I need to push the button twice or more or press harder for a longer time than in stock ROM.
It's not about ROM. I have stock ROM and it started doing too. And I think it's not about ROOT, because my friend has this issue too and she does not have her phone ROOTed. I use case. Problem is that it does not matter if it is mounted or not... It looks like it is damaged from using and it's sad...
i had the same problem , i placed a tiny strip of paper folded in half , between the lock button on the case and the lock button on the phone ( a tiny circular button on top of the phone ) , after that my lock button worked fine

could anyone be able to help me? im using HD2 normally with android 2.3.4. however recently my touch screen have has a problem is that when i turn off screen by pressing the end button, after that i turn on that screen and u know i couldnt slide to go the main menu . but if the screen turn off automatically and u turn on it immediately, u will slide and use it. So, yesterday i decided to up to another ROM to solve it, but when i did it the screen is changed that situation and that situation worse and worse until now i cant touch to screen. who could give me some cures for this disease. cheers for that !!!
btw, i did up to wm6.5 and nothing had changed ...................................
uppppppppppppp............... help me
What ROM are you running on Android? AND are you NAND or SD??
Sadly it has nothing to do with the rom loaded on your phone. The end button is right on top of the ribbon cable for the digitizer. Your phone needs a new digitizer. I had the same thing happen to me. You are not alone and its a common problem. I would say Its actually a fault in the HTC design since the end button puts direct pressure on the digitizer ribbon and eventually its becomes damaged. I have a new hd2 now, but I use button savior on android. It allows you to use a the touch screen to press the end button.
thx for ur advice . probably i have to buy another screen once (.

Can you please sen us the link for that software..
I would never use that button again knowing that it would harm my device in the future..
i just recieved my evo 3d today threw ups. and i noticed my power button is hard to press to turn the screen off... anyone else ran into this problem?
The button is built into the battery cover so remove it and place it back on.

make sure your battery door is completely on and snapped in the correct spots.
i have issues where either the power button is way too easy to press or way too hard. hopefully a new case will solve that.
I had a badly dysfunctional power switch with my first 3VO, I have since exchanged it for a new one.
And, no, in my case it was not the battery cover-power switch interface, it was the switch itself. I removed the cover and directly pressed it. Strange thing was, with mine, if I removed and replaced the battery, I could get one or two presses that registered, otherwise nothing -- no wake/sleep, no power off/on.
My wife and I both have Evo 3d's and her power button is way easier to push than mine. I switched the back covers between the phones and the problem followed the cover. I looked at both and the power button on my cover isn't molded correctly where it pushes on the phone. It is shorter so it sits further in the phone and doesn't work quite right. I called HTC and Sprint and there isn't a replacement cover available yet so they are going to switch out the phone.
I had a power button issue, where if I pushed the button, it would come up with the shutdown menu and no option just turn off the screen. Was in the process of going take it back for a replacement and found that when I removed the case to switch the memory card that my one was working as it should. The hardness went away and the option to turn off the screen came back. Strangest thing I seen since it truly seemed like a hardware issue.
i am going to check a few out in store and see if mine is like what you describe. To me its set pretty low and the button doesnt stick out very far.
Mine sticks out pretty far... isn't easy, or hard to press. I guess i got lucky.
Mine is really touchy, when I press it to lock the phone it sometimes goes to the shutdown popup. Sorry this post wasn't more helpful to the op, lol, just sharing.
I think this might be a software issue...but wanted another opinion.
sometimes when I hit the power button to turn the screen off, it turns off and then comes back on. It doesn't happen ask the time so I can't figure out if it is me or something causing the phone to wake back up.

It could be a short in the power button. Mine does this occasionally, just make sure you push the button down firmly and quickly.
This happens on my 3D, as well. It also happens on my Shift 4G. I can't recall if it happened on my Evo 4G. It happens a lot more often on the 3D, than with any other phone.
It happens to me about three or four times a day.
Happens to me occasionally and it also happened on my last phone. Nit biggie

I blame my thumb touching the volume keys - the latter can switch on my phone as well.
Having the phone in my hands, fingers left and thumb right aligned, and pressing down the power button with the index key forces the thumb (or lower base of it) to excert a force on the frame... oops, the volume keys are just placed there... Might be attributed to my big hands, though ;-)
It get's worse when I have a skin around it...
Cheers
Christoph
Mine does this as well, annoying.
locked & loaded
Mine does it the other way around, when i press power to turn the screen on, it comes on and goes off before I can get to slide to unlock the screen.
It's not a software issue, it's a hardware one. It's the power button, it gets mushy. Take the cover off and thoroughly clean it, it should click just once when you press it after that. if not, well, you're out of luck
hi...
well im pretty sad cause i dropped my galaxy s2 on the floor(not the 1st time)...this time when i switched it on all it shows is a white screen with crazy coloured lines.i waited a bit and i understood that it booted up.i pressed the power button and the display went off and heard the sound(i assigned it on pressing power button).then i again pressed the power button switching on the phone to its lockscreen and from my memory i pressed that jellybean locksreen buttton and slid my finger.anyways it unlocked and went to the homescreen.later i was able to switch off the phone too....everything works except the screen...
Is it just that my lcd is loose connected or is it damaged and would i need a replacement.
Sorry for the lengthy description if it bored you and my advance thanks to anyone who gives an answer and thanks to xda -for this forum.
Have a very close look at the screen under a not too bright light and see if you can notice any cracks. Sometimes you can barely see them.
If you can't see any, then if I were you I'd open it up and pray to God that it's just the screen connector that's come off slightly. It's a possibility.
Good luck..

So i have been wondering about something, when i press back button for an instance werry light and slow og just increase pressure over time, then it activates touch and goes back, then I can release pressure and press again and it goes back again without removing finger from screen. Does this mean there is like a 3d touch tingy? The screen is super response when I use it as normal so there is no fault here

As long as I understood you correctly, this has nothing to do with 3D-touch or similar technologies. Holding the back button is a shortcut in some ROMS, but it is not in our case. Going back twice is likely caused by you actually pressing the button twice even though it may not feel like it.
