[Q] Rooting + Internal memory problem - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello All,
A couple of weeks ago I got the message "Memmory almost full" after this it was difficult to update / install apps.
I read that this problem could be solved with Link2SD, but for this the phone need to be rooted. so that I did, at least I started but now im stucked.
Phone: Samsung Galaxy SII GT-I900G
Android version: 4.1.2 JB
Rooted Kernel version: I9100G_XXLSR_Kernel.tar
Actual memory information
Device memory: 1,8GB used / 157MB free
USB memory: 126MB used / 11GB free
Problem:
After flashed the new kernel I need to install "Superuser" app. But I cannot instal, my phone give the message "insufficient memory"
What I already tried:
-Delete all installed apps
-Clean cache date in boot mode (vol up+home+power)
-Cleaned my phone with clean master app
How can it be that my device memory is so full, even if there is not 1 app installed.
I run out of ideas, does someone have a solution?

[Q] S2 - Low Device/System Memory

HI Folks,
Here are my Phone Specs:
Model : GT91000G
Android Version: 2.3.6
Baseband Version:I9100GDDLK1
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7 [email protected]#2
Build Number: GINGERBREAD.XWLC2
Rooted : No
Last week, I got a message that my Device Memory(2GB) is low and ~30MB was left. I hardly had 10-15 application and biggest was Sygic. So i did a factory reset and bingo I had ~1.8 GB left.
Then I observed a strange thing:
When ever I connect to WIFi, my Device/system Storage goes up by atleast 4-5 MB so if in a day I am connecting 5 times.. ~20MB gone.
I have searched lots of thread and I am not able to find any answer.
Can anyone please guide me how to manage this issue. My phone is not rooted.
Any solution without rooting? I do move application using APP2SD.
As per forum moving to Official ICS .. this issue is solved but then there is RAM issue of only 687MB on G models.
Thanks

I have already done that..the problem start , when i start wifi.thats when System memory goes up by 4-5 MB every time.
I can free up system memory by doing factory reset.but then install everything and problem will still be there..I am looking for any other option...
Its a non rooted phone.
Is there any thing called temporary root without flashing anything such as insecure kernal etc..i.e. Rooting without flashing and then how to unroot if not flashed.
Thanks

[Q] insufficient memory error while downloading after factory reset

Hi!
I have just bought a Tablet named IRATHING2 running Android 4.0.3 from Indian company Wishtel Pvt. When I reset it to factory reset using BusyBox Installer, the Internal memory is not accessible it is showing 0.00B and Apps 32.75 MB but before the internal memory was 1 GB and Internal Storage was 2.73 GB. I have lost all the Installed and Downloaded Apps. Under Apps option it is showing No apps and under ON SD CARD tab it also same(No apps). Its is only showing the apps as a part of Android OS under ALL option. Even it is not recognized by Windows 7 when using USB Debugging.
Kindly help to restore my Tab to its original state as it show insufficient memory error while downloading apps from Play Store.
Thnx....................................

[Q] eStar MID 7124 wipes on every boot

Device: eSTAR MID 7124
CPU: Amlogic AML8726-MX Series, 1.5 GHz dual-core
RAM: 512 MB
GPU: MALI-400
Storage: 4 GB (1 GB system, 1 GB internal storage, 2 GB media)
Android version: 4.1.1
ROOT: Yes
Busybox version: v1.16.2androidfull
Stock ROM: Yes
Recovery: Android system recovery <3e>
I'm new to forum, but I'm not new to Android. But now I have this problem.
I rooted this device a while ago. And then I accidentally left it on for some time. Of course, it was discharged. And when I booted, it was clean like after doing a complete wipe. Every reboot wipes data (not media partition). I can't shut down it properly as it turns back on instantly. Also at "Manage apps" "Internal storage" shows 0 MB. Titanium Backup shows no internal storage. I can't install apps from market (it shown "Not enough internal storage"), market can't upgrade itself, etc. BUT I'm able to install apps using ADB.
One more thing. After connecting via USB to computer, it immediately shows "Mount storage" screen, which is unusual.
I tried wiping it manually, unroot/root, tried copying busybox from /system/xbin to /system/bin. No luck.
Tried to search for ROM's / custom recoveries. No luck (NOT EVEN STOCK).
I have another identical device with everything working perfectly. I'm able to access all folders on both devices (because it's rooted) except for /data on broken device. But trying to copy files from one device to another (blindly) broke the ROM. I took the device to repair service, but all they done was going back to the same state of "No internal storage".
What would you suggest me to do?
I have some ideas:
Copy only neccessary files from one device to another;
Find / build custom recovery and transfer ROM;
Give it to the repair service once more;
Throw it into the wall.

maybe is some kind of security policy running on each boot like selinux
After some time, I've looked into this again. It's probably bad flash memory (not surprising for it's price) Also, rooting might've overwritten what shouldn't be overwritten.
As it's a old and cheap device, it's kinda solved

[Q] Internal SD shows 8Gb in use - but nothing there?

Hi All
OK, I think this is something quite simple and its just my understanding thats awry...
Last night I factory reset m Samsung Galaxy S3 GT i9300 and installed a Cyanogenmod version of ROM 4.4.4 - very impressed so far. I am still trying to get various data recovered from different backups - but nearly there.
However my question is that when I browse to the internal storage in Windows (via USB) it shows 3.10Gb free of 11.3Gb... which implies that there is about 8.2Gb being used by something. However when I browse to ths individual folders and check properties it only shows 8.99Mb in use in 155 files. So there is 8Gb being used which I cant see in Windows. As I have wiped the phone and deleted all my apps to start again - this seems a bit high and I want to see if there is some space to reclaim somewhere.
Can anyone point me where to start with this? I am guessing that its something to do with M$ not seeing Linux, etc partitions - but any help appreciated.
Thanks
I should add that the way I installed the ROM was to boot into cwmod and do a facory reset/wipe all data - then installed the ROM from SD card followed by installing GAPPs!
I have just looked under Settings>Storage on the handset and it shows;
Total Space - 11.35Gb
Available - 3.20Gb
Apps - 533Mb
Pictures Videos - 148kb
Audio - 240kb
Downloads - 12.00kb
Cached Data - 8.63Mb
Misc - 20kb
So as you can see there is a whole chunk of usable space hidden
I am using an app called Automatic Call Recorder - which initially appeared under Apps saying it was using 5Gb of space... as the data for this is all on the external SD Card I clicked the "clear cache" option and it dropped to 15.69Mb afterwards.
I have just tried booting into CWMod and cleared cache files in case that helped - it didint
So I guess that for some reason this space is assigned to ACR and I cant get it back - any ideas?
OK - no help, so decided to format the internal SD Card using CWM and start again - once formatted it released 10Gb+ of space
So although I had to start again installing apps and restoring data it now shows 10.3Gb free with everything installed.
Hope this might help someone else!!!
