Hello everyone,
I have had an EKEN T02 tablet for one year now. For almost one month every time I switch it on there is a straight line running through my screen.
Sometimes it is green and thinner and sometimes it is grey and thick. As my screen keeps working it gradually fades away but it never disappears.
Have you ever experienced such a problem? Any ideas of what might be causing it? Do you think it would be worth trying to take it apart?
Any suggestion or thoughts on the matter would be more than welcome.
Thanks in advance!
P.S My screen looks like this:
Looks similar to what happens to laptop screens, which I believe the only solution is a new screen.

Hi everyone!, I'm having this really odd issue with my S2. I've only had it about a week now and this could have been happening all along though I didn't notice it.
Basically If the screen is off and I hit the power button is has this really slight flicker as the screen comes on. It's almost like a single line down the screen right before the wallpaper appears. It's also right-justified on the screen and always in the same spot.
Has anyone else had this issue? It can be reproduced by simply hitting the power button to shut the screen off then hitting it again to turn it on.
Thanks!
Edit: Also the screen doesn't always fade on. 3/5 times it will just "instant-on" where I'll hit the power button and it will instantly show the lock screen tile instead of "fading" into it. Does this happen to anyone else or does it ALWAYS fade in?
I'm probably just being paranoid but I'd rather replace the phone quickly to avoid actually sending it to manufacturer.
Thanks again!
You should take a video of it so we can see if it is normal. I don't see what you describe, and not sure the phone is supposed to "fade in" to the lock screen. Mine is always instant on.
I once flashed to Litening ROM and it had that flicker (lightning style) as a feature I guess, is it the same problem OP stated?
Regards.
Saw it once two days ago, vertically on the extreme left of the screen. Haven't seen it since, but it was very rapid - blink-and-you'll-miss-it job. Can't say it worries me. On Revolution FWIW.

sorry I can't take a video since this is the only device that I own that is capable of taking video.
anyway, yeah - it's really quick. And it's vertically down the screen. I kind of assumed that it was the backlight turning on but I'm pretty certain that happens on the sides right?
Right now it's 10:00 and this issue happens right where the "1" is on the clock at the top of the screen. So starting from that 1 all the way to the bottom.
Again it's REALLY fast - but it's noticeable, I'd have no problem showing it to someone in front of me. It just looks like a single line about the same width as the "1" as well. It almost seems like the one tiny line is showing before the rest of the screen, like if the screen were a "loading process" that line would be the first thing to appear before the rest gets backlit.
Not sure if it matters but it's the model I9100M from Virgin, just incase they are made differently somehow.
This phone has no backlight. The LED's are all individually lit.

Hmm, not the same problem as me - certainly nothing to do with the time here - it was in the afternoon when it happened with me, and my lockscreen clock's in 12 hour format. Clock's also at the bottom of my screen.
Been trying to reproduce it, and can't.

No no, I wasn't saying that the clock had anything to do with it, I was just trying to describe where the line appears on screen. I was also talking about the clock that appears at the very top, not the one on the lock screen. If I just continually tap the power button on and off I can see the "line" appear every time exactly in that spot.
It's pretty noticeable, unless you have the phone away from you - so if you don't see it then it probably isn't happening.
Does anyone think I should return this and get another? I don't really want to run into issues later and have to send to manufacturer. Is this problem big enough that I could get it replaced without issue?
Thank's for the replies!
Sorry, misunderstood. Definitely not my problem, I have no clock in the status bar.
If it happens every time, I'd probably return it if I was you - could be the precursor of something more serious.
Hi again, Thanks for the replies. I realized today that the issue is really only noticeable if you're in a dark room. Even in a semi-lit room it's almost unnoticeable which is probably why I hadnt seen it thus far.
If anyone wouldn't mind flicking the lights off and taking a look I'd appreciate it. If not I'll just return it.
thanks again forum!
I experience it too (at least I think we are talking about the same thing)..it's like it's stuttering and lagging after being in standby. So the first time it renders the lockscreen, the first few frames seem to be rendered at a different pace. If you turn the screen on after a good break, it'll likely do it, but after a few times in a row it instantly shows the screen.
Perhaps it relates to how big the wallpaper for the lockscreen is. I'm not sure, but I've had some huge 2mb pictures set as wallpapers for the lockscreen, and afterwards I think I decided to select a smaller image. I don't know if it was just a placebo effect, but anyways..it still does it with my current picture. I don't really care. You could try a different lockscreen from android market and see if it helps, but I think every SII suffers from this.
I have this exact issue too and it really annoys me! I also bought the phone from Virgin if that is relevant. It's a white streak on the left of the screen for me and only happens every so often. So what's the prognosis? A software fault? Hopefully fixed in a subsequent firmware update? Or a hardware fault worth repairing?
Greetings XDA'ers, i have a Galaxy S II (international) and it's running stock ICS (XXWLPG) and the "problem" is that right before the lock screen comes up there is some screen flickering, black and white lines flickers vertically across the screen in about half a second before the lockscreen comes up. Its very hard to see this. But its easy to see it in dark rooms, like cinemas and such.
I have already returned the phone to where i bought it, the first time they changed the front LCD panel. and 2. time they didn't fix anything. And here in Norway the third time can get my money back for the phone if the same problem exists for 3 times. And if i do that then i can get the money back. And buy a S III ))
But anyway is this normal, they said they discovered the problem when i send it in the first time. and its still happening. so is this happening to you guys??
-Thanks for your helpfulness
Anyone???
I've not seen it, and you may need to wait longer than 2 hours to get a response from someone who has. This is a forum, not your personal instant messaging support client.
no it's not normal, pretty obvious
Any help much appreciated....I have an issue with my screen flickering, dimming very faint and going black when i touch my screen. sometimes my screen will go black for long periods of time and phone is practically useless. This is not an issue of just a slight flicker on light colored screens that I have read other people describe. The screen does not always do this but is definitely getting more frequent. The flickering/dimming happens when I touch screen and especially when I touch it with more pressure. It also seems to be more sensitive on the bottom half of the screen.
I consider myself as the "scientific type" and have been testing many different scenarios trying to find a rhyme or reason to this happening. The only thing I have found is that if I keep my phone out of my pocket the problem seem to not happen. Then I can put my phone in my pocket for as little as 5 minutes and my screen could be messed up for hours. Everything else about phone seems to work great.
At first I was thinking this was a software issue but now I am leaning towards hardware? I am rooted, unlocked with s-on and cannot send back for warranty. I was running mean Rom for many versions and have also gone back to stock rom and stock kernel and experience same problem. Many reboots and clean installs too. I have also taken phone apart and reconnected all ribbon cables hoping there was a bad connection.
My Evo lte is only 4 months old and has never been dropped nor has it ever been wet. There are no scratches on screen and has been in otter box since the phone was brand new. I am running out of ideas and am I dire need for advice.
Thanks,
Mike
Hello! Everyone.
am in desperate need of help. A white line across the screen of my DS5 suddenly appeared. Sometimes it's not there but more often than not it's there. Especially when I'm using a reading app or it is in the lock screen. Plus, when I reboot it, while rebooting, the white line is visible.
really don't know what's wrong with the screen. I read a lot of the problems the DS5 has and all the problems that learned seems not applicable in my case.
attached some of the pictures. hope you can see the white lines clearly. Hope to get some answers on what it is and what are the steps or options to do in order to fix the problem. It is not that a big issue on other people, however, I'm not comfortable about it and find it really annoying. It would be great if you guys can point me the right direction.
Thanks you so much!

So your suggesting that it is not a dead pixel? or the hardware (screen) can be fixed? Thanks!

I just did. The white line is still there.
There are two possible causes of this:
1. A fault in the ribbon cable.
2. A fault in the LCD itself.
A fault in the ribbon cable could be related to the connection to the motherboard or a break in one of the lines. LCD displays have tiny transistors at the edges of the screen which control the on/off state of the pixels. Sometimes they get stuck. If this is the cause of your problem, then it appears that yours is getting stuck in the "on" state, resulting in the white line.
Your options are few: purchase a used Streak with a good display and bad motherboard to swap parts with, purchase a working device and put yours up on ebay, or purchase a replacement LCD display and glass.
Hi all
Sorry for a newbie question.
I have a Sony Z Ultra which I really like, but recently the screen sometimes just starts rolling for no reason. I cannot read anything, and it often does not stop. I turn the screen off, then on, and it often doesn't show anything but then it does it is still rolling. I have to hard reset, and even then have to do that a few times before it starts up normally. It seems to be happening more frequently. Any ideas on what I can do?
Thanks so much
Craig

It is more like rolling upwards, like an old tv that is not tuned to the channel properly (I am showing my age here because I still remember that)
I cannot take a screenshot because everything on the screen rolls, so cannot access the screenshot function or anything else for that matter.
I have found that when it happens I bend the phone backwards a little and it stops. This makes me think that perhaps the case may be slightly bent from a drop or from having it in my pocket which is somehow causing the problem.
It is not doing it now; I hope it won't return

From what you describe it sounds like your flex cable is causing the issue.
If that's the case, I could be wrong you can take it apart or return it to Sony. I'd just buy a new one. Sounds like a flex cable issue to me
A final development in the story of my phone. The rolling came back, got worse, and then I had times where I would push the power button to light up the screen out of power-saving screen off mode, and nothing would happen. The back-light would light up, but just a blank, black screen...
I sent it to the repair center and the quote came back. It would need a whole new screen.
The cost was going to be pretty high, so I looked online and bought a whole new phone for only 60 cents more than the repair quote!
I just hope my new phone lasts longer than the old one
