I have AN ANDROID GS3 I am looking for some help on build.prop settings. I have spent several hours on the web and here, I have found some setting but not all of them.
I am looking for a full reference or settings for the ro.ril entries, specifically ro.ril.qos.
I have found only three examples but I would like the rest. see below. the reason I am interested in finding these settings is that I am using VOIP and the infamous t-mobile $30 plan. I have also tuned my build.prop with other setting which I may list later after some further testing and additional ro.ri.qos settings.
Here is what is in my build prop, what is blank after the equals sign i believe to either give the default value or no (null) value.
qos (quality of service)
ro.ril.qos.maxpdps=2
ro.ril.qos.traffic.class=14
ro.ril.qos.max.ul=
ro.ril.qos.max.dl=
ro.ril.qos.guarantee.ul=
ro.ril.qos.guarantee.dl=
ro.ril.qos.delivery.order=
ro.ril.qos.max.sdu=
ro.ril.qos.delivery.err.sdu=
ro.ril.qos.transfer.delay=
ro.ril.qos.traffic.priority=3
Thanks very much in advance
I am sure that qos and other tuning setting will make this very stable and worth the effort.

try this one ro.smoothout.UI=1 lol!
j/k
but there are a lot you can add to build.prop
ro.HOME_APP.ADJ=1 and dedug.sf.hw=1,
just search a bit I would add more than one.
Thanks for that but I'm already running v6 which includes these build.prop edits. I'm running aokp ics by whitehawks and team kang on a g2x. Any other suggestions?

where the heck is this located on our phone ?
im trying to set the apps to 320 dpi while i run 213 dpi on the phone
hyb.prop:
hy.system_default_dpi=213
or is this just a line i need to to add to the build prop ?
thanks in advance
Have to have hyb.prop system dpi match build.prop dpi. I use Rom Toolbox to set the build.prop dpi (though you can edit build.prop, too)
In build.prop, set this
ro.sf.lcd_density=213
In hyb.prop, set this
hy.per_app_scaling=1
hy.system_default_dpi=213
hy.user_default_dpi=230
Make that last line match the default (but individual settings in subsequent lines override)
Hope this helps

Clarify: Make that last line read the dpi you want most of your apps to have

Hyb.prop is in /system just like build.prop

no wonder, hyb.prop is ONLY in dagr8's HYBRID rom, won't work anywhere else
thats funny
thats where i have been reading about it
thought i was going crazy trying to find it.
so sounds like app dpi is set if not using dagr8's
Where is the setting to rename the device ID on a network? I don't like that it comes up as a long name under router and tether info page.
I used to do it on my Inc but can't find it now.

Nope, that only changes the blutooth friendly name. I'm looking for network name change. It shows up as something like android-16945agr956
Would rather say Note II, or the like...

try Settings -> development -> device name.
That's where I thought I remember that setting being, but I don't see it on my device. Is it usually only under custom roms?

Add the following to system/build.prop and reboot the phone:
net.hostname=YOURNEWHOSTNAME
Your router should pick it up. I just tested this and it worked on my WRT400N router.
That's is! Thanks.
Sorry if I was calling it the wrong thing before and confusing people, it was host name I was looking to change. Added that line in the build prop file and rebooted phone and router and it now has a friendly name!

To edit build.prop file, had to download and use "Build Prop Editor" from Google Play (would post link but being a n00b I can't ) as other editing methods would not allow me to save my changes.
Props to alistairs1 for the workaround. :good:
Cheers

This is for the ATT LG G2 and requires you to be rooted. If you are not comfortable modifying system files, please do not go any further!
Disclaimer: I am not responsible for any damage you should do to your shiny new device. This works as is, however it requires you knowing how to obtain root, navigate your file system with a root browser, and properly set permissions. Being as this device has no form of recovery or backup, please be careful when modifying system files.
So, I love the G2 but was somewhat unsatisfied with the speaker output. I decided to figure out how to change the volume gain.
Volume gain for the speaker is found in the following directory: /system/etc/snd_soc_msm
The file that needs to be modified is called "snd_soc_msm_Taiko". Please copy this file to your storage before changing it in case you need a file to revert from.
Open this file with a text editor. I prefer "920 text editor" from the play store.
Find this code:
Code:
SectionDevice
Name "Speaker"
Comment "Speaker Rx device"
EnableSequence
'SLIM RX1 MUX':0:AIF1_PB
'SLIM_0_RX Channels':0:eek:ne
'RX7 MIX1 INP1':0:RX1
'RX7 Digital Volume':1:60
'SPK DRV Volume':1:90
'SPK DAC Switch':1:1
'RX7 HPF cut off':0:MIN_3DB_150Hz
EndSequence
"60" is the stock gain for the speaker.
'RX7 Digital Volume':1:60
Change "60" to a number of your liking, For me "65" was enough to make notifications much louder. Too high and distortion will kick in. I'm sure too high could cause damage. Small increments are best.Play around with this number till you find what you like.
Save the file with the default file name and copy back to the following directory: /system/etc/snd_soc_msm
Change permissions to RW-R-R
Reboot
That is all it takes
Is this only for external speaker or headphone as well? Am also unhappy with the loudness of the speaker. Headphone volume is good and am satisfied. but external speaker, its same as GS3.

Thanks for sharing this -- great stuff!! Any chance you could post the complete file, so we could see what all can be changed (headphone vol, etc.)? (I don't have G2 yet.)
thanks a lot, great to see this stuff so early. quality on external speaker is definitely not a bad thing, but I'm concerned about volume cause I can never hear my notifications

Hopefully verizon LG G2 users can try to search for the file and see if they can see part if the code in the text editor to confirm and report back.
I am still waiting for the Sprint variant to come out.

Am I missing something? When I try to save it, it tells me that it's read only. I am rooted and did give the text editor root permission.

Maybe try saving a copy, then editing it and paste on top of original. When I did this stuff on GS3, I edited the file on pc and then pasted it in.
Volume is terrible on my VZW version.

Save it in another location other than system, then copy, n move it to the correct directory, and change permissions. 68 was the perfect value for me...
