Hi Guys,
I bought a verizon s4 2 months ago and everything was running smooth
Suddenly for the past three days, my screen has progressively deteriorated until just a few random coloured pixels remained
I thought of reporting it to verizon when i found a small crack adjacent to the volume + button
I have uploaded a couple of photos but im not able to share them as im a new user:
h-t-t-p://imgur.com/Yp0TIPN,MxdoNk0
h-t-t-p://imgur.com/Yp0TIPN,MxdoNk0#1
When I accepted my fate and started blaming myself, my friend then looked it up online and found that many people were having the same problem
It seems that the reason is hardware malfunction. I even tried master reset suggested by some people online but it didnt work.
Im pretty sure that if i'd send this in to samsung they would've said this was a hardware damage and charged me money for their mistake(from what i've read this did happen to many people)
I just want to report this issue and being a huge samsung fan im greatly disappointed.
If anybody else did have this problem please post under this thread. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Duly noted. I wonder if I can get squaretrade to send me a check instead when my phone decides to take a 600 ft drop.

Galaxy S4 problem
Hey Dude,
Sarcasm Received, but the phone was perfecly running at 3 p.m. but when I went to a meeting, came back and opened the phone again, it blacked out. There was no chance for the phone to have dropped 3 ft. let alone 600 ft. The pixelated colours started showing later. I apologise for not attaching the video of the other guy having the same problem, it is in my second post. Please take a look and let me know your opinion.

First of all, I will start by mentioning that this is my third Touch Pro from Sprint and I just want to confirm something before I take back to the store.
Is there anyone else who updated to the newest official firmware and have problems with your video playback from your albums. I had some videos stored from my old phone on a sd, and when I try to play it on this phone, it would cause a lot of jagging, freezes, audio playing while video is not. I then recorded a video with the camcorder and when I went to play back, it did the same thing. The settings I have it in is in
-CIF 352x288
-MPEG4
If its the phone, then I'm glad because I can go get myself the Touch Pro 2 at the store for free.
Things to note,
-had no problem like this on the 2nd phone
-upgraded the firmware as soon as I got home with this phone
-been like this for a while, just never cared to get an answer until now
Any feedback to a similar problem or non-exsisting problem would be greatly appreciated.
Look, if your ultimate goal is to get a free TP2, then just tell them that the phone gets unholy hot or some defect from the phone itself (battery lasting less than half a day with moderate use, etc). Believe me that the TP from Sprint has a bunch of those... If you start going by software, believe me that they will find a way to either fix it or convince you that it can be fixed with an update...
were you getting a free tp2 due to these issues?? Because im having the same issues as well including that my battery gets extremely hot and will not charge

I'm curious about this myself. I was gonna get a Hero in a couple of months when my contract is up, but if I get a TP2, I might hold out for a little while.
There is a list somewhere that after a certain date, if your phone is with in the manufacture warranty of 1 year, and you have insurance of both types with sprint, you can switch out the phone to a list of 10 other phones, the TP2 and the hero being among those.
Still a sure answer on this would be great. Thanks egz on some insight. And gxt, you mean you are having problems with video playback too?
So I think I'll be going to the sprint store tomorrow, I'll let you guys know how it goes, unless I don't go that is.

What insurance do you have to have? Where is this list?
My 2nd tp just crapped out on me and insurance just sent me a "new" one.

http://slumz.boxden.com/f244/sprint-now-replacing-touch-pro-touch-pro-2-a-1295800/
im going to give this a shot.
Hello everybody(insert simpsons joke here), it looks like i finally went to the sprint store. After what seems like a lifetime ago, i told them the problems I had, they said they would do a hard reset, and to come back in an hour. An hour and a half later and I will be getting mnyself a touch pro 2 soon. Now the only bad part is that i need to call this store to find out when they would have any touch pro 2's in their warehouses. So at least for now, I am assed out, oh and forgive me if this comes off as bad grammer, I am typing this from my touch pro 1, the screen is too small.
im currently having issues with my panel. checking out multiple threads i finally come to a conclusion... my screen is giving out. there is a certain area where if pressed, i hear the screen creek a bit and i feel it dip in. im assuming this is the cause of my touch screen not responding in certain areas, because its not grounded all the way around. my dilemma is this:
1) its not that bad, so i could just use it till it gets worse
2) get a replacement for my phone
my issue with 2 is that im gonna get a refurbished phone.... ive always had issues with refurbs. i used to work for verizon and once people got a refurb, it was over. they couldnt get a working phone at all after that. a little help or insight on other possible options would be very helpful. thanks in advance guys!

If you decide to keep your phone, you can either have a cell phone shop fix it for you. You are looking around $100 - $140.
If you decide to fix it yourself, a screen kit goes online for around $30 - $50. That and if you've ever worked on a pc(preferably laptops), then this will just be like working on a smaller version. There are how to guides online as well as youtube videos.
Also, I heard from another member who's having their phone replaced that Verizon/Asurion are out of stock on Thunderbolts and will issue a comperable model(probably a charge or revolution).

NO WAY would i EVER touch a REVO or a Charge... bleh!
when i used to have sprint, they said they did screen replacements. anyone know if verizon service centers do the same?
Hello everyone,
and thanks in advance for your help.
I would like to ask if you have ever seen a problem like that in the attachment.
I bought the Samsung Galaxy S3 just few days ago and within the first hours of utilization I found this white line on the display.
It is persistent with software and hard reset of the device.
The only way that I've found till now is to remove the battery for some time ( half an hour ), but after few hours the problem's still present.
It seems related to the "cool down" of the device.
I'm already thinking to give it back in assistance but I'd like to have some feedback if others had already the same problem.
Thanks!
this is abnormal, you should replace it asap.
The screen is fault. Go and replace it (the phone) .

Give it back.
DO NOT use words like warranty!!!!
State that the sold to you unit is not filling up the conditions of sale agreement.
Rationale:
If you'll go back to shop and claim the warranty, you'll stuck for several weeks and on return you'll have repaired/refurbished unit.
If you'll return it on the base of discrepancy with the selling agreement claim (faulty unit sold) - shop duty is to replace it or give you your money back (at least in EU).
I think my phone since yesterday has the same problem of the OP. I tried several apps from Play Store (claiming they could fix display issues) but without results.
My phone is old less than a month and it's all stock (XXELLA) except root...I'll post a pic if I try to capture it on my old phone camera.
Anyone else recently encountered this? Thanks in advance.

I think I'll go to make it check from a tech at a service centre (pic of the display: dl.dropbox. com/u/6492926/SNC00344.jpg)
But I was wondering...If the screen is AMOLED and a pixel (or more) die, should it be black (turned-off)? Here you can notice that the broken pixel line is white, also lighter than a white screen. As a note, the line is NOT visible when the background is full black but visible in the other cases, resulting more when the background color is very light.
I'm a bit disappointed :S
I don't think that a line can be caused by a pixel or more. There is more a cable or something inside the screen (or motherboard?). It's impossible to have a full line fault because of pixels.
If your phone is less than a month old go to the store you bought it or call Samsung. They should replace it. Don't let tech opening a new phone. They are not fixing the phone as better as Samsung itself. Mine had a chop inside the screen and they replaced it after two weeks I bought it (I've seen the chop in park, watching the screen under sunlight). The store replaced the device with no questions.

Just wondering if anyone is actually happy with their replacement phone. I've been dealing with minor issues where my side buttons stick sometimes and don't always work properly. Apparently this is common on Sammy.
I love my phone to death and can deal with it if it means getting a junk refurb. But I'm still under the manufacturers warranty, so I'm kind of torn on what to do.

I actually recently just got a replacement a week ago. Bottom left portion of the screen was cracked and I dealt with it for a couple months and was undecided about wanting to get a refurb but I decided to. The replacement came and it didn't say it was a refurb anywhere and has been working perfectly, able to overclock and everything. Have no issues with it whatsoever, maybe I'm just lucky but I'd say go for it. You get to keep your battery from your old one so that's a plus but my zero lemon is plenty. Haha it's your call
I got a warranty replacement due to my phone stopped charging. I don't have any issues with it. No defects in appearance, no weird problems, able to "jailbreak" first try. Also, as a few select people love to claim that there are issues with the headphone jack on every warranty replacement, not mine.
I will say that things do happen and there is a chance you might get a bad one. Then you just have them send you another. Just don't be like the weirdo that kept sending them in and was up to like 35 or something like that.

Got mine replaced twice, both replacements have been fine other than the glass seems to be really weak.
The refurbs I have got with past devices have been fine, like new.

Im on my 7th since april and finally happy lol. Any minor defect I don't play with, I paid way too much for this phone
worked for me
A couple of months ago I had mine replaced. The phone wasn't charging and when plugged in it seemed kinda loose. Whether it was my fault or not they sent me a refurbished one and I've had zero issues with it. This one even seems to have a better grip of the plug than my brand new one. If you can get it replaced, do it. I've always been someone who makes excuses for not calling verizon to fix the problem and I always end up paying for it. Literally
Thanks for all the replies everyone. I know worst case scenario is I have to sent it back again, but I certainly don't want to have to do it multiple times. Which is the reason I'm holding off in the first place. It's really only the power button that is giving me the most problems. But again thanks for the input at least I'll have a little piece of mind if I do decide to send it back.
I have gotten 5+ refurbs from Verizon and have Never had an issue. They all come looking 100% new and don't have any cracks/blemushes/scratches. I probably got lucky to get so many perfect ones but that is just my experience.
I recently had to warranty my phone because of a bad head phone jack. The first replacement I got couldn't keep track of time properly so I had to send it back. The next one worked perfectly.

Hi,
I am done dealing with LG support, I am going against them in court now. Need to know if anyone wants to join in. You won't have to do much, if LG has sold you a lemon too then let's get back at them.
Their Flipkart batch in India has had issues and they refuse to acknowledge it, hence I need the names and complaints ids of people who already faced issues like mine.
I have 3 people till now. Need as many as I can get.
My thread on reddit blew up. LG now wants to settle outside court. I have to say there are so many of us that faced issues. I have more than 50 DMs there.
Here for some reason, no one contacted me, weird.
What is the issue you are facing.
And what issue is common in batch sold by flipkart in india?
I too purchased it from flipkart but as such not faced any issue except battery drain (that too after latest update)
mobile data of my phone used to be very slow, now after updating to android 11, it isn't working at all.
i had random reboots, phone keeps rebooting on hotspot, tried finding your thread on reddit, couldnt find it

I deleted it, I was getting a lot of DM's there and I have been busy. Also, I got a full refund from LG, so it didn't seem fair to have a thread bashing them up.

Nice man kudos to u, its like the David and Goliath situation, so they contacted u as soon as you post started to get blow up? Did they make u sign any NDA?
Any ways what do u suggest for people who are struck with a defective phone?

Escalate to the CEO office, they are pretty fast with their responses and take things seriously IMO. The local people in their HO just don't care at all. Keep logs of every call and every message you send to them, make them aware of your intentions to sue in case they are not willing to fix the problem. Don't be unreasonable, I asked them for a replacement with a non-vietnam unit or a different comparable phone, and if they can't do either of those, then full refund. I had 8 months of logs, my phone was replaced once, and the replacement's screen was changed too, they had kept my phone for nearly 1.5-2 months. I even showed their service guy the problems I was facing and recorded him noticing the problem first hand. I made it clear to them that I was taking this to court, and told them what evidence I had against them to back up my claims. I am not sure if the reddit thread had anything to do with their response, because I sent a final message to their CEO office around the same time that thread was created, I got refund approval the next morning.

I'm late here ig, I have been facing a few issues since the beginning (over 2 years ). The proximity sensor does not work (according to self tests). The screen does not switch on automatically when there is an incoming call. The screen does not switch on or off when the phone is brought to the ear during a call. The power button almost always takes 2-3 tries for the screen to switch on. Interestingly, switching the screen off does not require so many presses. The screen also becomes weirdly unresponsive where I can do a swiping and other things, but that one particular page, for example instagram messages, will not react at all. I will have to go back to the insta homepage and again to messages to fix, while other times i'll have to restart the app. Something like this also happens in the UI's home screen, where i will not be able to click on apps to open them. In order to fix this, i will have to swipe to the other home screen and back. hen there are other annoyances of the fingerprint not reacting from the AOD and also takes a few tries to read. Also, whatsapp plays he audio in the earpiece for some weird reason.
Can I take action even now?
