So I accidently F'ed my phone when I was trying to do the carrier unlock method. I installed the T-Mo radio and forgot to download the correct ROM. So I was like no biggie Ill just re-flash the correct radio. Long story short I decided to just go back to stock for the time being. Hooked up to Odin and flashed the pda-odin-att-stock.tar. Rebooted and and let it sit for a few minutes. Then booted into the stock recovery and factory reset the phone. Once it booted back up everything seems legit its just EXTREMELY SLOW. Like to the point of I cant do anything with it.
Where should I go from here. Ive been searching the forums but doesnt seem like anyone has had this exact issue. Should I try to root it again using the original pda.tar file and then load TWRP back on and try a new ROM. is there another one that includes the radio or is my radio fixed with the back to stock tar?
Any help would be appreciated. I need my phone back.
So I tried to basically root it again and installed TWRP and now its basically bricked. I can get into download mode but nothing else. And returning it to stock doesnt help now either. So ya Im stumped.
If it goes into download mode, maybe you need to re-flash TWRP or CWM?
Try This
Same thing happened to me a few days ago; if this isn't solved yet, what I did was:
Take out the battery
Keep it out for about 10 seconds
Plug it back in
now when you turn it on you should be able to get into TWRP
Flash ROM (Stock or whatever)
If you don't have a ROM when you search for it in TWRP, I think there's one last thing you could do, ADB sideload I think its called. Though I never needed to use it.

If you have download mode, no brick.
Odin back to stock with .tar file.
You don't have to he rooted to flash ROM. Go to Super Everything thread and read on how to flash, root or whatever.
Read read read and understand what you are doing first

ok, I need some help here..
was running rooted ics roms for weeks now, and was trying to go to the new cm 9 nightly today.
I was using twrp for recovery, and it would not flash that way, so I went back to cwm recovery.
Then, I tried to flash h0tw1r3's version of cm9 first, then I would flash the new cm 9 nightly; never got to that point..
After flashing that, i went into a boot loop, so i want back to cwm, and tried to wipe, and flash it again, but I got locked up in cwm, with no menus at all..
Well, I decided to just Odin back to factory, which didn't work; both rooted stock GB, and unrooted stock GB...I am not a veteran of odin, and, since I am on a mac, I ran it in a virtual machine, the same way I originally did it when I got the phone months ago. It goes through all the steps that make it look like it worked, but, once the phone reboots, I get the first and second "samsung" screens, but then the screen just stays black, and nothing happens..
I can get into download mode, and, flash via odin, and it says "success", and looks like it should work, but it doesn't...
Can anyone suggest something else to try, or, maybe the proper .tar file to try?
I think my phone is probably still on an ICS leak, and that might be the problem. but, obviously, I can't get it to boot, no matter what I flash through Odin..
Thanks so much to anyone who can help..I am hoping I don't have a brick, which I don't think I have, since I can get into download mode with no problems...
EDIT: Got it to work with a stoick tar from Dar8!!
Good job
thanks..

done...thanks for reminding me!
Last night, I tried flashing a new ROM and whenever I restarted or booted the phone, it sent me to recovery mode. I couldn't do anything about it. Today I flashed the Odin version of GeeWiz and when I try to flash a new ROM in recovery, it says "operation aborted" and when I try to restore my backup, it says "system.img not found. Skipping"
How can I fix this??? Please help very soon!
Please! Am I bricked?
I'm not sure what went wrong, you're not really supplying any details about what you did, but I would say make sure to follow droidstyle's guide exactly as he says to, and if you still have issues to come back here with exactly what went wrong.
ODIN CWMALL, then try that backup again.
See droidstyle's guide.
Worse case justODIN back to stock EH03 and start again.

Didn't work.
Then your backup really is corrupted. You're not trying to restore a backup made with a different version of CWM, are you? What ROM were you on and what ROM did you flash?

I was on cyanogen mod. But also If I try to flash roms through cwm, it doesn't work.
Me thinks you need to take the advice of what has been mentioned and follow droidstyle's to get yourself back to stock. That is...if you want to take a cchance on getting your phone to work again.

I took all of the advice. I eventually ended up using a different recovery and my roms flashed fine. I feel really stupid
OK, two new problems. My phone keeps booting into recovery, and the battery messes up. When I boot with it plugged in, it's at like 14% and when I boot without it plugged in, it's at like 65%. Please help!
Maybe try to re-calibrate the battery? The simpliest method I've come across is found here, just scroll down a bit to the section labeled 'RECONDITION YOUR BATTERY'. As far as booting into recovery, I'm not too sure what might have happened there, might just need to start again from stock like you've probably already done a hundred times
Not sure what the CM updater uses, but I have tried to update with Philz, got stuck in an installation loop of the update itself.
Tried to use my jig and flash back to stock right now, got into download mode and was able to flash back to stock, but right now, I got into download with the jig, flashed stock ROM, and got a bootloop but am UNABLE to get into any recovery at all.
Pretty screwed up. Really need some suggestions here, guys.
Any ideas?!
I can get into download mode and flash via Odin (USB drivers installed via Windows 8)
Flashes successfully, installs stock recovery, reboots into bootloop.
No idea how to fix it.
Not a noob here. Nothing is working.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I had the same problem and I ended up finding a working CWM tar file that can be installed using ODIN and I was then able to boot into CWM fine.
This is the exact file name: recovery-cwmtouch-6.0.2.7-GTI9300
I don't remember where I downloaded it from, but if you Google the exact file name I am pretty sure you'll find it. Just flash it using Odin and you'll be good to go.

Well, now I'm even more f****ed than before, because I had a zero count, but after trying this, I got a custom count in download, and I still cannot get into recovery.
Nothing works.
Bye, bye warranty.
Edit:
The 6.0.2.7 version by MSKIP worked, but the updated one did not.
I got recovery, now I'll see if I can flash stock and recovery to get my counter back to zero.
Sorry to hear about the counter. I'd suggest rooting your device, installing Triangle Away, resetting your flash counter and then finally unrooting your device by installing stock ROM from SamMobile or such. That's the best route if you want your warranty to remain intact.

Hi all,
I am stuck in the very same problem as of today!
I don't know what to do!
One more weird symptom is that when I tried to charge the Note battery..it suddenly went to bootloop again!
The battery was 100% at the begining of that damn update process!
I don't know what to do..all suggestions are so welcomed.

Hi I tried to root my phone using this method ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1504218 ) and it left my phone stuck on the reboot. I then tried to flash the stock kernel via odin, and when that didn't work I flashed cwm via odin and then a rogers kernel through cwm and it is still stuck on the rogers logo.......?
could someone help me......?

I see your post count and realize you cannot post in the development section yet. that should not however stop you from reading. maybe you have but you may not have read the whole thread. i know that may seem like a daunting task, it is for me. so what I o is go to the most recent post or last page and start reading backwards. that way I get the most up to date information even on an older thread as you are referring to.
if you did that you would have seen a post from AGOATTAMER.
http://rootgalaxynote.com/galaxy-note-i717-roms/how-to-root-att-galaxy-note-sgh-i717-icsgingerbreadeasiest-method/
this is also the method I used. believe me, if I can pull it off, anybody can.
more tips..............
make sure you have all the files you need
rehearse the process
I know it sounds crazy, but these phones aint cheap and if you mess it up, can be pretty screwed.
so what is more valuable???? your phone or acting crazy and talking to yourself for a few minutes.
if you can still get download mode, your good, no brick
good luck
You flashed an older incompatible kernel with a newer ROM, but I guess you know that now. Flash the stock ROM found here using odin.
http://www.hotfile.com/dl/213010140/75bf7e2/I717RUXMD1_I717RRWCMD1_RWC.zip.html
Go into recovery after install and do a factory reset. Then start over. Many have used the link that captemo has mentioned. There are newer versions of recovery than the one listed on that site but it will get you rooted. Look at this thread also. Since you are installing the stock ROM via odin you will not have to deal with the script mentioned here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2485336
Just flash twrp with Odin, don't reboot into android, not directly into recovery after the flash finishes...
In recovery wipe data/factory reset.
When you go to boot it'll see you're not rooted and ask if you want to.
The easiest method to root.

I have a S4 i545 for Verizon. It was on 4.2.2 rooted and I upgraded using Fireflash with I545_OC1_Stock_DeOdexed_ROMwNK4_BL.zip. Everything seemed fine so I was using Titanium back up to remove the bloatware and then my battery died. When I charged it and booted up it got to the Verizon screen and hung there. I reset and tried several more times. I tried to use odin and flash a stock 4.2.2 ROM SCH-I545_VZW_1_20140330160240_yni63xq6zh and I also tried a 4.4.2 rom. Odin gave a an error and failed. I then tried going into the boot loader and flash the I545_OC1_Stock_DeOdexed_ROMwNK4_BL.zip also. Not sure if this was foolish or not but when I booted up I got to a black screen and there was a voice talking, maybe some sort of app that was running, but I couldn't do anything.
Right now when I turn on the phone it says firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in kies and try again. I tried connecting it to my computer and opening kies but it doesn't find it. If anyone can point me in the right direction on how to unbrick my S4 I would appreciate it. I know I screwed up.
as long as you can access ODIN you can unbrick. since your on 4.4.2 get the original rom and install. re root and install your rom of choice. from there if you have a previous backup in titanium you can restore

I was on 4.2.2. I tried downloading the original ROM for this but it didn't work in Odin.
Problem is I can't get into download mode now, or recovery mode even. It's just at that screen I mentioned above. So Odin isn't recognizing my phone.
thats outside my knowledge base. sorry. good luck

so if you hold down VOL- and power it doesn't go into download mode?
It won't be recognized in Odin until you get back to download mode. - in Odin then you'd want to flash the PIT file and the ROM you need.
The only other way to fix would be to get ahold of a copy of Verizon's Software Upgrade Assistant/Software Recovery Assistant, which looks like someone has uploaded here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2469615
The Software Recovery Assistant should fix it if nothing else does, I have used it before.
No when I turn it on it goes straight to the screen I mention with a yellow triangle and it does the same if I hold all the buttons down like you normally would to get in recovery.
I assume a battery pull didn't help. Since you have MDK, it MIGHT be worth it to get the JTAG dongle, which will boot the phone into download mode. It is about 3 bucks.
I tried installing in windows xp, windows 7 and windows 8 with no luck. I clicked the exe and it does nothing. I then tried installing on a MAC. It installed but when I went to run it the software opened for 1 second and then close with an error software closed unexpectedly. The I updated the software on the MAC and the software opened but the second I plugged in the phone it gave the same error. The MAC did find the phone though but windows did not.

Just plug the phone (on that screen) into your PC and see if it shows up in Odin.
If not, pull the battery, and hold the volume down and power buttons as you put the battery back in. Then choose Continue.
Did you read my post? I have done that. My phone is hard bricked. I can't get into recovery mode and therefore I can't get into download mode so therefore odin won't find my phone.

Which ROM did you flash, link?
Ahhh. The linked version of the Verizon Software Upgrade Assistant doesn't work. Sorry about that.
I just pulled the .iso from my S4 and posted it up, try this one: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347780563
Per npjohnson advice I was able to get the phone into download mode. I misread your post at first so sorry about that. Now I need to figure out how to fix this. I flashed Lollipop originally so does that mean I can't actually go back to 4.2.2 using a stock ROM? Can someone point me to a ROM I should try to flash since the so called stock ROM's I have tried are failing in Odin.
I tried flashing this one:
http://stockroms.net/file/GalaxyS4/SCH-i545/VRUAMDK_NoWipe.tar.zip
It came from here:
http://galaxys4root.com/galaxy-s4-stock-firmware/
As for the Verizon assistant that was just posted it does not install just like the other. I click it and the screen flashed and then it does nothing.

What lollipop did you flash originally? OTA?
I was rooted and then I flashed I545_OC1_Stock_DeOdexed_ROMwNK4_BL which I think is android 5.0.1. I used flashfire.
This was the thread I followed:

Probably should try the full factory image linked here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...pment/odin-i545vrugoc1-factory-image-t3160125
That will put you on 5.0.1 OC1 including bootloader. You'll then root with Kingroot, use Super-sume to replace Kingroot with SuperSu and then you can use the NON-MDK ROM with FlashFire. (odex, or deodex if you want to use xposed modules.
