Ultimate Recovery Tool, device not recognized - HTC EVO 3D

Hey everyone, thank you so much for your help with my last question.
I am attempting to downgrade hboot using Ultimate Recovery 3.0.
Successful brick (dim steady light, unable to boot into bootloader...or anything for that matter)
Open URT from CD
Type 3 for "downgrade HBOOT"
Wait till Im told to plug in device...
"waiting for device"... will stay on even when my device is plugged in.
Help!?
I was running HBOOT 1.58 attempting to downgrade for stock ROM's
Any ideas??
Thank you
Edit: I am starting to get USB errors the more that I try this... I will try to screenshot them and recite them verbatim

Update for anyone reading
I am still getting USB errors when I plug in
Stupid question I'm sure but is this all because I don't have a stock HTC USB cable?
The cable I have has plenty of power and should sync without issue.
Any thoughts?
Thank you

I now have the HTC stock cable
I obtained a stock HTC cable
I know that the linux boot CD is reading the USB drives because I get the same I/O errors when I unplug the USB from my computer while the program is running (I was trying to make sure it simply wasn't a port issue).
I still have no sense that the URT 3.0 is "seeing" my bricked Evo 3D when I am told to plug in my device.
Has anyone had this trouble before? I've tried this on multiple computers all with no luck.
Do I have an ultra brick on my hands? Somebody? Anybody?

Can't enable USB Mass-Storage

So I've tried a couple new roms... after the second one which I can't recall the name of it, I've run into my issue.
When I plug in the phone via USB-comptuer, I no longer get the prompt to "charge only, usb, tether, etc.." It just starts to charge right away, and I cannot access my micro SD card at all.
Is there some sort of fix for this I can do in terminal? I remember having a similar issue with my OG EVO, and I thought it was a fix in terminal or in adb.... But when connected to the computer adb doesn't even recognize the device.
Thanks ahead of time!!!
Settings, About phone, software info, more. That should tell you what ROM you're using. Check the ROM's thread and search if anyone else has the same problem and if there's a fix. Doubt that's the issue, maybe you just have to restart your phone. I had that problem sometimes when I plug and unplug my usb wire alot.
I have a feeling that it's not the ROM that I'm currently on though that caused the issue. It's one along the way, which I do not recall, that caused the issue.
After a million reboots, fixing permissions, flashing back to stock to try to enable S-ON and start all over or bring it in for repair..... I can't figure it out.
EDIT:: Don't know if it helps to know or anything, but I can't get FASTBOOT USB when trying to write secureflag. All I get is FASTBOOT AC.
Try a different usb cord and see if that helps
Locked & Loaded
" Shooter on Deck "
Believe it or not... That did it! lol
Thanks for the help!!! I can't believe the cable was the issue.
It's the cable that was from the car kit... hmmmm.......

[Q] USB connection no longer recognized

Have been on Gingerbread with HTC unlock.
Did 1 try of the Bear s-0ff, and it only booted to green Bear screen.
Did boot image install with PH98IMG in hboot, but it won't take
a recovery done with PH98IMG. Does not charge with any cable nor
does any computer see the phone. Fastboot does not go to fastboot-USB
on any other computer either. It will boot into the rom that was on it,
but not recovery.
Please suggest ideas to get USB to connect for charge or fastboot again.
Thanks.
Bump.
Similar problem here, although S-OFF, ICS leaked firmware, and Nils Business ICS 3.4 running fine. Phone charges from outlet, but cannot connect to PC, fastboot USB, charge mode or drive mode. Is it hardware?
If I try to connect and fail, then reboot, the connection dialogue comes up even if on the AC adapter, and if I then connect to PC, I get pulsing "USB Device Not Recognized" messages, but the "drives" don't connect (and the drivers *are* properly installed.)
For what it's worth, I *can* access the cards (internal and external) in Amon Ra 3.15; I *can* run a Nandroid and a restore. I can even run adb via wifi, I just can't connect to PC. However, after trying to do so, then rebooting, the handset things it's connected if I'm plugged into AC.
Really bizarre.
I'm having this issue at home on my windows 7 pc, but at work, on my windows XP machine, it has no problem recognizing the device. At home it just says "Unable to recognize device". I tried using widgetsoid, but that didn't work either.
Don't know about anyone else, but for me, at least, it appears to be a hardware problem. Rolled back to stock 2.01 RUU and still unable to connect, and unit thinks it's connected when it's not. Rolled back forward and will learn to deal with it or return for warranty claim.
Dumped down the innertubes from my Rezound.

Yup. Con was helping me out, too, behind the scenes. (Dude is amazing).
Please let me know what happens. I know how to roll back to stock and get the hboot to even say LOCKED without TAMPERED, even though it says S-OFF. I'm just looking for a time frame when I have time to restore everything from this unit to any replacement.....and s-off that unit, of course.
Have you checked that it's not the computer causing the problem. I have 2 Windows 7 laptops and 1 would not recognize my phone even though I installed the same HTC drivers on both. Eventually I got it resolved by reinstalling the entire HTC Sync package with the drivers from that, then removing the sync program.

Thanks, but I've tried with 3 different PC's, 3 different USB cables, 3 different SD cards, and 3 different RUU's. On all 3, the Rezound fails to connect, and then, on reboot, even if it's FIRST REBOOT AFTER RUU, it boots up thinking it's already connected to PC offering me "charge" or "drive mode." If I select drive mode, it dismounts internal and external sdcard, and won't remount them once I disconnect without reboot. If I select charge, then pull the cable, it reminds me to connect, but at least realizes it's *not* connected.
And fastboot usb not obtainable under hboots 2.11, 2.21, 2.25 and Juopunut's ICS hboot.
So, that's why I"m pretty sure it's a hardware issue at this point.

[USB-Problem] Can't recognize USB in any modes, even FASTBOOT.

My friend's got a Legend with a USB malfunction (which I'm supposed to repair ). I've gone through all the threads and posts, and I couldn't find anyone which had precisely my problem.
When the phone's switched on and connected to via a USB cable, it starts charging, and the pop-up to select Charging, Mount as disk drive, Sync etc comes up.
But on the computer, whether I try USB debugging, or Mount disk drive, or the others, it shows the error "USB Device not recognized". I've installed HTC Sync, and am able to connect other phones without any problem.
I tried connecting the USB in fastboot, but it doesn't detect it either (FASTBOOT doesn't change to FASTBOOT USB).
I just wanna confirm with experts if this' a problem with the hardware (Got a sample here :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18420923&postcount=11) before I go to the service center.
Thanks
U might be using the wrong data cable. There are 2 different types, there is the old type that only has 4 connectors in the mini USB plug (phone end), the new ones have 5 connectors.
Another possibility is that the cable is simply just damaged.
I had the exact same issue with an external HDD that worked, then stopped then worked again then stopped, tried a new cable and worked without issue.
Sent from my legend using XDA
I'm leaning less to the hardware side.
I have had this problem before (not entirely identical) and after fruitless attempts in fixing I decided to reflash my rom and USB worked again.
Sent from my Legend
Thanks for the reply guys Had to replace the USB port connector PCB.
Just for the info, I was not able to re-flash the ROM since the phone was S-ON and bootloader locked and couldn't get FASTBOOT USB to work.
USB Version...
Hey guys, long time reader thought I'd contribute my frustration to hopefully help someone in a similar situation.
I spent a few days wondering why I couldn't get any of this to work no matter what cable I tried. For some reason, my HTC One X didn't like dealing with fastboot through my computer's USB 3.0 slot. When I finally tried a 2.0 slot on the same machine, everything went through just fine...
Cheers!

This threat will indeed do the trick and your USB connection will be back

Hi,
I've been trying for about a month to fix this on my own. Searching and reading and testing. To no avail.
I rooted my EVO LTE per instructions here: youtube.com/watch?v=Y7-dAlaJL2I
All was going well until the backlight started having issues (turned out to be a coincidental hardware problem which I have since fixed). Thinking that it had something to do with my flash of Cyanogenmod 10.2, I attempted to restore my phone to the stock backup through TWRP. Something went wrong, I have no idea what, but the phone would no longer boot. I could get it to boot into bootloader, but that's it. If I try to just turn it on, it sits on the HTC screen for a very long time, and then the screen goes black, but the phone is on, and won't charge, or respond. I have to hold the power button for 20 seconds to get it to turn off and charge or reset into bootloader.
I couldn't do much with it at the time, because the backlight on the screen was going in and out and making it difficult to work with. Now that I've fixed the backlight issue, I find that I cannot get into fastboot USB. I have tested it with different cables, which all work to charge the phone, different usb ports, different computers. There is no change. The "FASTBOOT" header will not change to "FASTBOOT USB", although it will show "FASTBOOT AC" while plugged into the wall.
On a windows 8 machine I get no response whatsoever. On my windows 7 machine it is constantly connecting and disconnecting, often showing me the error message that "one of the USB devices plugged in has malfunctioned" or "USB device not recognized"
I have uninstalled and reinstalled HTC Sync, I have installed drivers from several threads here about similar issues. I have even reformatted my computer and started fresh. Nothing is working.
I can load TWRP recovery from the bootloader menu, but nothing in it works, it only says "failed" or "Cannot mount SD card" for any of the options that I am actually able to click on.
Can anyone offer me any advice as to how to get my phone back to working condition? I'm really kicking myself over getting into this situation, and am not the most educated with this sort of thing. I have tried posting in the designated newbies seeking help threads but got no responses.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Easiest way to get back to a working device is to RUU. Look around for the 4.13.651.4 RUU, which will re-partition your internal storage and flash the latest Sense 5 ROM onto your device.
You will need to relock your bootloader for the RUU to run successfully (fastboot oem lock) but only do that once you're prepared to run the utility.
I think @Magnum_Enforcer might have a guide floating around to help with the process.
You should also consider getting S-OFF once you're updated, using Rumrunner.
My guide (top link in my sig) only outlines how to run the RUU while connected to a computer. Since his phone won't connect to his PC, wouldn't he be able to run the RUU from his external SD card? I've never done it that way but I've read various other threads where it has been discussed. If he needs to relock his bootloader, that's also going to be an issue since he can't connect via Fastboot USB.
I would be glad to take a look at the phone and see what I can do with it. If you're interested, shoot me a PM.

Problem is that if the PC won't recognize the device, the bootloader can't be relocked for the RUU (or PJ75IMG.zip) to work.
This is one of those devices I'd really have to mess with in person to try and figure out the best route to a solution. Ubuntu might be a viable option for connecting to the device. A Live CD/USB would be the fastest way to confirm that.

HTC Sensation XL Fastboot USB Not Detected

Hi guys. I am new here. Any help will be appreciated.
So i have dead HTC Sensation XL. It has an unlocked bootloader but with an S-On. So i cannot install any custom OS in it. For S-off, i have read it that i need to update my hboot version. Current hboot version is 1.25.0005. Hboot is only upgraded through fastboot command line tool as i know. But the problem is that my pc is not detecting my dead android in fastboot mode. I tried 2 different pc's. First one is loaded with Windows 7 (x64) l. The other is laptop - Windows 8.1 (x86). I have also installed HTC Drivers,HTC Sync and minimal fastboot (8 mb). HTC Sync is not running in background because it conflicts with ADB. I also tried too different cables. One is of samsung, the other is of HTC Sensation XL. But no gain. My HTC is giving red light durjng charging means thr cables are right for it. It is stuck on HTC Logo. I also connected HTC Explorer with those cables and it has been detected in fastboog mode. My HTC Sensation XL is also not appearing in Device Manager under ADB Composite Device. Don't know what is the issue. I have utilized 7 hours on it but no gain. Please help me soon. Thanks alot to all XDA members and XDA Community for creating the forum. If my posting is not in the right section please move it and let me know. Waiting for reply. Help me please.

You said you're stuck on the HTC screen... Does this mean that you can't get into the bootloader mode via Volume Down and Power? Is it the white or black HTC screen? And for future reference, you can install another OS if you are S-On (providing you get fastboot connected).
Sir i can get into bootloader menu via volume down + power key but my OS is not booting. Yes you are right that i can install a custom OS but my fastboot usb mode is not detected. What should i do to make it work.!
Attached is the image of Sensation XL for reference. It is dead. Only able to boot into bootloader, fastboot and CMW recovery. One last thing, in CMW recovery, when i "Mount USB Storage" under "Advanced" section. My device neither appear in my PC nor in Device Manager.
Anyone ? I need help guys.

You gotta hit the power button to select Fastboot. Then it should change to red highlighted with the words Fastboot USB and then the PC should recognize and load the correct drivers for fastboot, if available..
I hit the power button to get into fastboot but no fastboot usb option.
And have you checked the Device Manager for driver errors? If it is not displaying at all on any PC, with any cable, on any port, then it's quite possible the phone's USB port is damaged. And yes, it can be damaged and still charge as the charge pins and pins for connection of this type are usually different or have multiple parts. I never have luck with these kinds of HTCs on Win 8.1, despite knowing about every trick in the book for loading drivers for phones. It only works in Win 7 for me. It is recommended to only use 2.0 ports, though I never have luck with either on 8+.
Thanks alot sir. You are right that my charging port is maybe damaged. Will figure it out tomorrow. It is not appearing in Device Manager as you described. Yeah Windows 8.1 is not made for us it does not detect device. I also used windows 8 but my pain still lasts. I am using 2.0 ports not 3.0 but i am now sure that my usb port is damaged. Will repair it soon & if the problem persists, i will contact you soon. Thanks alot for your amazing response. Expert!
Charging Pins & Connecting Pins Difference.?.
I want to ask one thing sir. I am confused. Don't know about hardware much. So, i want to ask that how are the pins different, like you said charging pins and other sort of pins. I mean, i can charge from the same port and it shows that charging port is somewhat OK. But when connecting to a pc, same pins are communicating with my pc, so thay should have worked on pc. But they didn't. I haven't explained fine but i hope that you will understand what i want to ask.

Some pins are strictly for charging while others handle data transfer. So that's how it can charge, yet not connect.
Thank You Very Much Sir. I will get them repaired soon.
Hey man. I have repaired my charging port because my Sensation XL wasn't charging. I got them repaired. Charging's fine but still not detected in my pc. Tried another pc but no result. I still think that i have to repair those connecting pins because it wont show in my Device Manager. What are they named? Are they are Connecting pins or some other name. Don't have an idea about hardware. What should i say to the repairer? please help.

If they replaced the charging port and it's still not working, I really don't know what to tell you...Sorry. I've never had or worked on a phone with a good working USB port with a good cable not at least try to load some kind of driver, even if it isn't the right one.
Ok i will try to do the best. Anyways, thanks for the support #esotericchaos
Solved the problem #esotericchaos. My connecting pins connection to the main board was missing. So the person to whom i gave it, put back the prints of connecting pins and then the reading in Ohm meter was great, fine enough. Now i will flash a rom soon. Thanks man. Thanks alot for the help.
I KNEW something was wrong with the USB port. I was feeling kind of bad that you might have spent money on a repair that wasn't needed! Glad all is well though! :victory:
Yeah but still dead. . Will fix it soon.

I must've misunderstood... What's wrong with it now?
The software is gone. Will flash a stock RUU to it after making it S-off.
