[Q] Help rooting Huawei Prism II (4.1.1)? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Alright, so I have been trying to root my Huawei Prism II with Android 4.1.1 for a while now, but whatever rooting program I use, it will keep getting stuck on Step #7. I also tried rooting the phone manually, but ran into a problem:
Code:
1|[email protected]:/data/local/tmp $ ./psneuter
./psneuter
Failed to set prot mask (Inappropriate ioctl for device)
For some reason my device will show up before I begin the process of rooting, seen below:
Code:
70723C61AA05 device
But when I check to see if the device is still there while in [email protected], it won't show any devices.
I am wondering if this has anything to do with not having the OEM driver for this phone? I've been looking all over the internet for the offical driver, but have not been able to find one for this device, so I have been using the one that was automatically installed by Windows 7 which is the Android Composite ADB Interface. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

That's my problem too. I hope that everything can solve really soon and we can root our huawei prism 2 devices

I know already how to root the huawei prism II . Use Shuame a chinese version aplication for windows. Run the aplication, conect your device and in one click you will be root. This application install a Chinese superuser android app for root administration similar to SuperSU or Superuser.

If that doesn't work, try this.....http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2403230

I understand that this thread is a couple of months old but I found an app that worked for rooting our Prism II phones. I used Kingo Android Root on my Huawei Prism II U8686 and it rooted without any problems. I was able to use titanium backup and some other root apps that I had on my old rooted Samsung T759. You can google search for Kingo Android Root to find it. Really easy to use, self explanatory. Screenshot for proof below.

Kingo works perfectly fine, you just need to install drivers. Make sure your bootloader is unlocked as well.

[Q] Root Alcatel OneTouch Pop D5 (5038X)

I tried Kingoroot, Iroot, Vroot, Framaroot, Rootmaster and many other aplikacija.
None have worked.Kingoroot sees my phone as a TCL Device(5038x), but the real name is Alcatel OneTouch D5 (5038x). Does anyone know how to root this phone?
Do you have an impact if it's locked bootloader. and if so how it unlocks.
People are explaining how to root the most popular phones, but not the specific phones like i have.

Can you run adb shell? If so, run "adb shell" in a dos terminal do the following:
#cd /system/
# cp build.prop /sdcard/
# exit
Click to collapse
Then from the same dos terminal run "adb pull /sdcard/build.prop" ... (make sure your current location e.g. c:\users\blablah\yadayada)
Then use windows explorer to navigate to where the build.prop was saved to view its contents (you should be able to open it using notepad or wordpad) ... report back the values for the following:
ro.build.version.release
ro.product.board
ro.board.platform
If it's MSM8212, 4.4.2 and MSM8610 you're pretty much out of luck...
And yes Alcatel bootloader for Qualcom (e.g. MSM8212) devices has thus far not been 'hacked' if you know what I mean.
This is how I managed to root
Maybe someone will help.
1.Instalirao'm on the computer Android SDK tools.
2.Onda Android ADB, Fastboot and other tools.
3.Instal Java developer kit 8u25.
I installed on their computers VRoot v.1.7.9.
I joined the phone, waited to recognize him and started Root.
My phone is rebooted, and asked to install VRoot and on the phone, which I did.
I started VRoot and on the phone, and so alternately I managed to root the phone.
Then I installed and started supers.
cant root

I tried mobo genie method and it starts one click to root after launching it (saw it in task manager) but it didn't root it.
I've also tried downloading one click root from official site and was without results.
The tool that worked for me was Shaume (shuame.com/en/root/).
It's a chinese based website which is probably one of the reasons.
After rooting it installed King User (basically SuperSU) and Cleaner Master.
PS: It might say that it failed to root but it worked.
Using POP D5 5038X.

See the instructions (author has since updated) at
http://click.xda-developers.com/api...Touch Pop S3</b> 5050 | Every Android version
and the second page comments for recovery hints. TWRP requires some study and preparation before use so it's not good to be stuck when attempting recovery.
Note the comment on the 3rd page about the updated recovery image that lets you see what you are doing on the screen. For me I got it working, working in the dark (ie. not seeing anything on screen), so it's too early for a video tutorial.
Please Help me :/

Rooting using Kingo Root
Rooting nowadays is very simple.
But the easiest way to do it is the following:
1. Download Kingo Root for Windows, Mac or Linux;
2. Install Kingo Root;
3. Open the program;
4. Connect your phone to your pc through USB cable and wait for Kingo Root recognize it;
5. If your phone is rootable it will appear a button saying "ROOT", click there (If your device is not rootable then you are out of luck and you must try another method)
6. Don't remove your phone and don't click anywhere, wait until the rooting process is finished;
7. After this your phone should reboot, it means you are now rooted (If your phone did'nt rebooted, manually reboot it then);
8. Enjoy!
Note: Rooting will void the device's warranty, root at your own risk.
Download the phone's drivers if needed and disable Windows, Mac or Linux firewall if needed.
Hope it works for you!

T-Mobile Coolpad Rogue 3320A - Any one working on Recovery/Roms for this?

So I as successfully able to root the phone using the Windows version of Kingo Root and then installed Super Su and Busy Box but I can't get a recovery to work on it, yet.....would love a Recovery like TWRP or Phil's and CM13 port for this phone.
Finally got it rooted with KingRoot
Just noticed that the build.prop has the ro.build.id-LMY47V
That's the 5.1.1 for the 2013 Nexus 7

Hi I would to know how you rooted the Coolpad Rogue 3320A. I was looking at Kingo root and KingRoot and they dont give good instructions.
I tried the android versions of both KingRoot and Kingo Root without success. The Windows version of Kingo Root failed but the Windows version of KingRoot succeeded in rooting my Coolpad Rogue 3320A.
The Kingo Root Windows app gives instructions in English when you run it. Which are to connect the phone to the computer with a USB cable and enable "USB debugging" in the phone's "Settings" under "Developer options'. Then click the ROOT button when it appears. KingRoot is in Chinese, but I just followed the same procedure.
To get "Developer options" to show in the phone's settings , you need to give 7 or 8 taps to the "Build number" under "About phone" in the phone's "Settings".
Before I tried rooting I also ran COOLPAD-140926-SETUP.EXE in the CD Drive labeled "Coolpad_USB_Driver" that shows up in Windows Explorer when the phone is connected to the PC by USB cable. I also installed minimal ADB and Fastboot and Google USB drivers using 15 seconds ADB Installer v1.3 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=48915118 But I think that they may not have been necessary.
The version of Windows KingRoot I had success with was KingRootSetup_v3.1.0.1125_105002.exe downloaded from kingroot.net
There's a setting in the developer options to allow the bootloader to be unlocked. I've not tried to fastboot to work yet.
"Vanilla" ROM or at least vanilla dialer/phone apps?
I'm interested in some kind of vanilla dialer/phone/telecom app set (5.1.1 based) or a full ROM that's AOSP so that I can toss out T-Mo's "Wi-Fi Calling" and use the built-in Android SIP client with its normal configuration screens.
If anyone has accomplished the same with this device or any other T-Mo 5.1 based device, please let me know. I'd really like to be able to configure the system dialer to connect to my SIP PBX directly rather than use a half dozen hacks to give me half-working VoIP calling of my own.
(Note: If there's a T-Mo 4.4 based image out there, that would suffice, as I can at least make VoIP apps intercept dial requests, which T-Mo Wi-Fi Calling prevents on 5.1. This device shipped with 5.1, but it might be possible that a similar model's ROM image might work on this as well.)
/system image
anyone with a rooted 3320a that might be able to provide me with a stock(or rooted stock) image of /system? i managed to softbrick my device after rooting and i forgot to do a dd of the system partition before mucking around in it
thanks in advance

My Arise don't have a custom recovery either. This kind of disappoints me, as this phone is a good phone for the price.
However, I thought I'd share with you guys that Root Genius may also work to root the Rogue as it does root my Arise. (I don't own a Rogue, so I can't confirm this.) It's always better to have more than one way to root your phone safely right?

[Q] Alcatel OneTouch Pop 7 LTE (9015W) root and custom recovery

I just purchased the Alcatel OneTouch Pop 7 LTE (9015W) from T-Mobile and I was wondering if there is a method for obtaining the boot.img and the recovery.img so that a custom recovery and root can be created. I looked at this guide (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1801690) and it mentioned that I needed root in order to get those two. Is there a temporary root method I could use so I can obtain those img files? It is running Android 6.0.1 if that is an issue or not. The stock recovery information is listed as:
Code:
TCL/9015W/Pixi4-7_4G_TMO
6.0.1/MMB29M/vBC3-0
user/release-keys
in the same boat
Like the original poster i have the same device and tried every (literally) way to try and root this device with no success at all.
If anyone has the key I would be in your debt.
I did come across recovery and stock rom and worried because they are one year old. BUT, I am ready to try anything.
Same here. I'm trying to use this tablet for my cars dash, i figured it'd be sick for all my car functions to be in a tablet with LTE. But most of the cool functions need the device to be rooted. Desperately trying to figure this out.
Same
I have the same one, been trying to find a rom whether its rooted or not, or custom, its stuck in a boot loop, i can get it power off and get into recovery, but factory reset is a no go. If i had an image i can flash it and pray i can salvage it.
Yes it'll be nice to be able to make this tablet useful, use internal micro SD as ram, remove google bloat ware and sightly over clock.
Got this device for free but if I can't root it then it might become a Christmas gift. LOL

Hi.. In the same boat as you.. There is a temporary root method for 6.0.1. Install the latest kingroot on your pc and on the 7 lte. First try to root it from your pc( it will not be able to root it) then use the kingroot on your tab. Voila you have your temporary root. You might have to try it more than once. I personally use it for adaway for changing the hosts file and the root goes away if I restart the tab.
Best of luck man hope you can get us that permanent root and custom recovery!
Possible temporary rooting method found!

I may have found a simple way to achieve at least temporary root. By accident really lol...
I was playing around with hidden menus and found an app available on the Play store called "Hidden Menus"
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.freespirit.hms&hl=en
For tablet users, this is a perfect way to access some of androids secret menus typically only accessible through a dialer. As tablets generally have the dialer excluded from their systems, this is an awesome workaround.
On the Pop 7 Tablet (9015W/9015B) there will be a selection near the top of the list labeled "com.jrdcom.user2root"
and its selection will show .User2RootReceiver. Click this and then press yes when asked if you are sure if you want to run it.
running this option will bring you to another screen that will have "com.jrdcom.user2root.JrdUser2Root" at the top and then underneath will have two buttons labeled "Root" and "User". These two buttons will change your default user for ADB.
If you press "Root" you will see a message flash at the bottom of the screen that says "Update to Root Success"
Thats it!
Plug your Alcatel Pop 7 Tablet (9015W/9015B) into your computer with your usb cable (Make sure to enable USB Debugging mode first! If you don't know how, just search Enable USB Debugging on xda. Enabling this feature is beyond the scope of my post for today.
Open command prompt and type "adb shell" (Without quotes of course)
you should see the prompt change to something like the following for example:
Code:
[email protected]_4G_Telus:/ #
All Done!
Just be aware that rebooting the device seems to force it to default back to user mode. If you see this:
Code:
[email protected]_4G_Telus:/ $
then you are in user mode.
Hope this helps!
The user2root tool doesn't seem available on my T-Mobile branded version of this device.
Amazing!!! Worked for me too
Alcatel Pop7 LTE 9015B from Virgin canada (Bell)
Not a permanent root, but at least I was able to get rid of facebook bloat (com.facebook.appmanager, com.facebook.system)
These packages were impossible to deactivate and were using background data
