So I just had a passing thought. If the International One X has a Tegra 3 chipset, albeit at a slower clock and a slower GPU, shouldn't the chipset drivers be similar? If that is so, and since the One X is a very popular device with many developers, has anyone tried porting the Int. One X ROMs over here?
I've done some work with Linux, but am new to Android development, so if this is a totally stupid idea, feel free to let me know and delete this thread. Thanks.
If I'm not mistaken this has been tried before but they aren't compatible off the bat for various reasons. Plus if I'm not mistaken again, the One X+ (at least for AT&T) has the "newer" Tegra 3 chip that supports LTE. The original One X's Tegra 3 does not, which is why the originals AT&T model used a Snapdragon chip.

Hi all,
I've just seen the desire C in carphone warehouse and I noticed it has similar hardware capabilities to our legend, but it runs ics and sense 4 smoothly. Is a port of this ROM possible? I know the physical hardware may differ, but if it can run on a 600MHz processor in the desire c, surely it can run on our legend too, right? Has anyone considered porting?
Thanks for any info!
Anyone?! Ok....

Unlikely. We couldn't do it for HTC's previous devices of similar hardware due to evolution of critical hardware components. Who knows WHAT exactly changed in this one here. If one were to have been made, it would yield a gross amount of time misallocated into a port that would be barely functional and/or even beneficial to the core user experience.
I don't know how the pricing is in the UK, but here in Canada, the Rogers Desire C is up to the point where if I really wanted that software on my device, I'd go ahead and buy it straight out.

Sounds like a fair assessment of why we'll never see sense 4 on our devices! Thanks!

just thought i would chip in porting the desire c rom to an armv6 board is impossible unless your good a reverse engineering the armv7 coded libs.
Oh wow! I never realized that the Desire C was ARMv7, same with the HTC Explorer. Heh.
In hindsight, that would have made previous evenings completely redundant!
So I saw this today on a new HTC model the M7. A few of the specs have leaked, but nothing substantial. Take a look at what we know so far:
LINK
"The HTC Droid DNA has been on the market for only two weeks (and we’re still waiting on the international launch for the HTC DLX), but HTC is already focused on its next flagship device. According to multiple sources, HTC is working with semiconductor and casing suppliers in an effort to secure enough components to manufacture 4 to 5 million units of the HTC M7 in Q1 of 2013.
Exact specifications of the mysterious HTC M7 are a bit vague, but with a little bit of research we’ve been able to pull together quite a bit of information about the phone. Form what we can gather, the HTC M7 will feature a 5-inch HD display, a uni-body aluminum shell, Qualcomm APQ8064 quad-core processor and a 13 megapixel camera."

Not the DNA on steroids, more like...the exact same specs as the DNA in an aluminum case. So it'll basically be the One X+++ and will go to the crappy carriers to bolster their failing markets, or go to Europe. New Year rumors for HTC devices usually means a GSM release. Wake me when HTC actually creates a unified device line instead of their scatter-shot releases like they promised last year.

IPhone 5 and Droid DNA hybrid. I think HTC has sunk to a new desperate low. Paying off Apple and releasing every product they have on every operating system and hoping one sticks.
Here is some advice HTC. Having something that remotely resembles a plan will do wonders rather than going full throttle without a plan.
I'm not entirely certain why people with the DNA are upset?
It was clear from the DNAs specs that HTC would have a better flagship next year (the DNAs camera is the same as the HOX).
As predicted, aside from physical changes, the only thing new is the Camera.
So, Verizon customers get a device 4 months before everyone else, sacrificing only a camera and aluminum unibody. Not a bad deal TBH.
HTC needs something exciting like bringing back the aluminum unibody. The Desire HD is a fantastically solid device, and the HTC M7, if real, is a perfect replacement.

More likely this...
At present, this [S4 Pro] is the same Krait CPU as what we've seen in MSM8960 in phones like the USA versions of the Galaxy S 3 and HTC One X. Later on, Krait v3 will emerge with higher IPC and shorter critical paths (and clocks up to 1.7 or 2 GHz) and a resulting 10-15% boost in performance. For now however we're looking at 1.5 GHz APQ8064 with a Krait v2 inside and Qualcomm's newest scalar GPU architecture with Adreno 320. We're going to talk more about Adreno 320 closer to devices shipping, when Qualcomm feels comfortable talking architecture.

Architecturally, S4 Pro is just S4 with two additional cores and a different GPU.

I still hate how they coined the quad core as the s4 pro bc originally the S4 Pro was the MSM8960 Pro SoC which was the 8960 with the higher better GPU..... Then ppl started calling the quad the pro...

Are you sure it wasn't the "Plus" and some people thought it was "Pro"? It is officially called "Plus" now at least.
I've seen stuff like this happen though. My HTC Touch had a "micro usb" port for charging which the manual and other references stated. Then that plug somehow became "Mini" and the "Micro" is now a different one. I remembered I wanted to buy another charger on Amazon a year or so after getting the phone and was very confused until I figured out that they changed the name.

Yeah, I'll take the plastic. It might scratch easier, but I like the feel of the DNA and the plastic protects the internals more from the shocks of impacts.
Maybe it's because my first phone was an HTC, but I always find myself rooting (oh, the puns) for them. I guess it's the whole underdog thing. But they need to ditch the carrier exclusive nonsense. There should be a flagship device pushed out across the bigger carriers, and that's that.
I have the thunderbolt, and my memory isn't short. I ask myself what will happen in 2 years with this phone? I'm still waiting for ICS on my bolt. What assurance do I have that the DNA or any subsequent phone wont end up in the same boat after the initial craze dies down?
Duely blundered from my thunderdolt.
I expected this device next year with a better camera and krait v3 process. I don't know why everyone is bashing HTC. The DNA was a Verizon and Japan exclusive just for the winter to compete with note 2. This device is going to compete with galaxy s4 the reason why they released the DNA and butterfly this year and exclusive is because if this was international then next year they would have had to release another phone with a better camera and processor to compete with galaxy s4.
The fact that they have done the national beta release and an official international release they have avoided the mistake they made with sensation-xe and one x+x+. Rather this time they have released the next year flagship exclusive to see what the flaws are so next year it will not be hit and miss like the one x. They have also got a new marketing VP so it looks Like they are taking things seriously. Some people on Xda need to stop bashing HTC as their flagship cycle has changed for the better the people who bought the DNA are stupid if they wanted this as they should have waited.

don't know.... the name's m7, to me that sounds like tablet area, if not, it's probably the eu version of the dna, like the codename for the one x is endeavor it's probably something like that, what was once being rumored as the htc zeta is today the dna 5inch qualcomm quad and all.
Thats upsetting, but this is the way of the smartphone world and always will be. I wonder if the camera will be much better?

So, I found out that I'm available for an upgrade on my AT&T HTC Inspire...the thing is...upgrade to what? I've been eyeballing 2 phones so far. I like the HTC family so I plan on staying in that area.
The Choices are:
HTC One X+ ($199) 64GB internal storage, 1GB Ram,
Chipset: NVIDIA Tegra 3 AP37,
CPU: Quad-core 1.7 GHz,
GPU: ULP GeForce 2
Browser: HTML5, Adobe Flash
Java: Yes, via Java MIDP emulator
~*~OR~*~
HTC One (available April 16th): 32($199)/64 GB($299) Internal storage, 2 GB RAM,
Chipset: Qualcomm APQ8064T Snapdragon 600
CPU: Quad-core 1.7 GHz Krait 300
GPU: Adreno 320
Browser: HTML5
Java: Yes, via Java MIDP emulator
I just don't know which one I would want. Any and all help is appreciated.

Honestly, if I had to choose it would not be HTC at all, but rather the nexus 5 (whoever makes it). But since the choices are hox+ or the one, there is no reason not to wait 2 weeks for the latest/greatest from HTC. HTC releases phones so fast development cannot keep up. The hox+ will soon be forgotten after the ONE is released.

I agree they will forget us but the devs here at XDA won't anytime soon.
Personally I would go with the One. It's bound to be a whole lot smoother and more durable. Plus the latest Sense already installed.
The downside is going to be the One's 4mp camera.
No contest, I will pick the One over the One X+. The One, except for the awkward name, is a totally new and advanced design while the One X+ is a remodel of the One X. Buying a HOX+ now when the One is available makes little sense, especially when the price difference is only about $50.

Disregard the S3 please, it's not even a worthy choice. I'd rather choose between the One and the N2. What matters most is what you will do the most to the phone and which one will benefit you on your daily needs. But if i'm to choose between those two, i'd really find it hard to pick one. It's just a matter of self preference. The N2 is still a nice phone, though if you're into intensive gaming, the One will beat it any day. But productivity-wise, the S-pen would be a helpful tool. It's up to you then. Both devices are great tbh.

I just back from the AT&T store...went ahead and got the Note II. I decided against the S3 because as soon as the S4 comes out, it'll be just like the HTC One X+.
I wanted to get the HTC One, but I have this thing about brand spanking new phones....there's always going to be some glitch or hiccup at first. Not to mention...the screen was jam-packed full of crap(like news and such...very Windowsy)...too busy for my tastes. Other factors for not purchasing the One: no SD slot and integrated battery (This, being the main factor). To me, it's a little iPhoney. I want to be able to get a new battery if need be and not have to send off my phone in case something goes wrong. 16GB is more than enough for what I need it to do, and I have a 64GB SD card, so I will good on memory.
I want to thank everyone for their input. It means a lot to me.:highfive:
I have had my One X+ for about 6 months now and im looking to finally root and flash a new cool rom. However there seems to be 2 versions of the same phone...
There is the one I have with the 5 cores (one for battery or something) and 3G (not 4G LTE) then there is a American (I think) one (with 2 cores and LTE support)
On the development page there is one called "One X+ Original Android Development" and another called "One X+ Android Development" regardless of what they are referring to (which one is mine?) there aren't many posts in either of the sections (one has 3 pages the other has 5)
Is there just a lack of interest about this phone or do ONE X roms work with it?
(I had a HTC Desire in the past and it had LOADS of support even 4 years later there were still roms coming out with the latest version of android.
Thanks.
Well for starters, all versions of the One X+ used the Tegra 3 AP37. You're thinking of the original One X, which was different for international vs. NA. You are correct in that the One X+ has 3G-only for international and LTE for NA-only, but that is their only major difference.
I'm not sure what you mean by lack of development. There is a dedicated section for the One X+ on this site with plenty of ROMs and what not floating around, and the phone has more than enough power to throw whatever you can dream up in the next few years. Check out the section called "Android Development". I recommend something like CyanogenMod 10.1 to get you started,
Am getting this phone today, which as I understand is basically a cheaper Padfone X for the rest of the world (very cheap in my country, Malaysia). However as the processor is Snapdragon 801 rather than 800, it probably needs its all subforum. Anyone knows how to request one?

Not that there ARE any X roms =) thanks for your reply!
I'm not brave (nor knowledgeable) enough to try out the twrp listed in the dev forum. However the price range the S is going for here means in sheer number of users its likely to be more than the X within a short amount of time. Not sure whether that translates into dev activity, but hard to find out without a subforum.
I think better add subthread.
