I don' t know if people were aware of something like this on our way..
I finally found an image of something I heard as a rumour a while ago.

I believe this will be the perferct 2nd cover, for those days when u know u will be going heavy on the device.
According to the source http://techraman.com/sony-xperia-z-ultra-hands-on-review/ the thing is gonna cost 11,900 Indian Rupees, which after checking the exchange rate, is like $190.
Bit pricey, but I assume this to be the official retailer recommended price, and that actual prices to be a quite a bit lower?
WHO HAS FURTHER INFORMATION ABOUT THIS CASE WITH BATTERY?
Availability?
Manufacturer? (I am not sure if it is official Sony accessory, bu heard that Sony was working on it. By themselves? or with 3rd party?)
mAh of the battery unit?
Colours available?
Material of cover?
Looking for sources and leads.
Thanks in advance
very interesting
This will be good.. But sadly, I don't have any leads for you my friend..
I mentioned this before in another thread. According to a Sony Centre (Malaysia) staff, the battery cover will is an official sony accessory and will provide additional 3000 mAh. He also said it will be available later this month. Still, if the price mentioned below is true, probably not worth buying.

Right, at this price it really isn't worth the price. Need to stay tuned. It exist for the xperia Z so it will for xperia z ultra.
EDIT: http://www.mugen-power-batteries.co...for-sony-xperia-z-docomo-xperia-z-so-02e.html oitch maybe the price given below isn't too far from the truth.

Good, that makes sense the link I found was inconclusive.:good:
Pricy though... I expect third part ones to become available once the launch goes global. They have for the normal xperia z anyway.

Completely agree - definitely a jaw dropping price - I wonder if it is the one pictured at the start of this thread or if it is different again and this one here is a third party one?

The third party ones for the normal Xperia z are about $25 for the 2300Mah version or $40 for a 4000mAh version.
Its good to see some options coming out but I think I'll wait for the third party option, unless retail price of this turns out to be a lot lower.
I hope mugen or zerolemon makes their own battery for the ZU.. and hope it would be 5000+mah and make it waterproof too!!!

Nice to see the real thing, but the price..... 249.99 up... Don't know how can their marketing team allow such a ridiculous price mark for a case which may only get me 3 hours extra...
For that price, I can get a brand new Nexus 7 for extra10 hours uses....

The price is just RIDICULOUS! Not sure if it's worth having. While it will be good to have a boost in battery life, the additional footprint won't make it practical to have it with you all the time. I'm pretty sure the added dimension will match those of 7-inch tablets.
I'm experiencing better battery life with the latest firmware update. So I will wait and see. Hope the price will be reduced...

No not really, but waiting almost a month for something un-tested take the excitement out of it. I did find they are selling cheaper on the sellers site but the site is a little sketchy. Will post the link later.
One thing i did notice later is that the volume and power buttons aren't covered. Those buttons take the most abuse so having them covered would be nice. Still, I'm very tempted to buy a case.
My White Neo Hybrid is getting a little brown. I might pick up one of these. Just want a review or something first....

Ok, ordered this one: http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Galax..._1_4?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1334182757&sr=1-4
Estimated delivery May 8 - May 21 - I'll report back in a month...
EDIT: FYI the cost listed (if you buy it through Amazon) includes shipping - that's the total cost on my receipt, and S&H is $0.00
EDIT2: As of this morning, the order has shipped - expected delivery May 21st. So whatever the slowest shipping from the UK is, apparently...
If anyone's wondering, I looked at the website and compared the Amazon listing and their site.
This is the same as this.
It's selling for $14.50 on Amazon, and 9 pounds on their website--which is about $14.30 according to Google. The price from the site does not include shipping, another 2 pounds or $3. Amazon is definitely cheaper, since shipping is free.
These are nice looking. I think I will try one out. Thanks for sharing the link.
Arrived today - 9 days from order date - not bad. Pics attached, sorry for the quality - from a work BlackBerry.
Impressions - good fit, minimal bulk, but it gives better coverage than the Rearth Ringke slim I've been using, and feels like it would handle a drop better. The back plate just lies in the "tray", so I had to adjust it once on, but then seemed snug enough. All the ports and mics are open, buttons are easy to reach. Easy on, easy off - stiff enough I don't think it will stretch. Has a bit of a matte finish feel, so won't slide in and out of pocket as easily as the Ringke, but not sticky. Does hold the camera lens off the table, but the front rim is under the face so it does NOT offer any protection when face down.
My Ringke slim is cracking because I remove it multiple times a day to dock, so I think I will use this as a daily once that dies.
Any other questions?

It's definitely there, but thinner than others I've tried - about like the Casemate barely there. The Ringke slim is the best really thin one out there, I think, but you don't get the coverage...
I can live with this - you can tell you're using a case, but it's not bulky by any means.

I thought that that is the normal price for a good quality battery. Don't buy cheap batteries on ebay, they make them out of expired cells.
I think you can pre-order if it's out of stock:
" If ordered now, it will be shipped on August 31, 2012."
I've used augmented batteries from Chinese brands in all of my smartphones (Galaxy S, Xperia Play, HTC Sensation, Galaxy Nexus). No issues so far. I've bought a couple of 1800 mAh batteries from Aliexpress. Mugen just want to fetch top dollar for what is worth pennies. I don't begrudge them for that, but I vote with my wallet.
Here they are: http://www.aliexpress.com/product-f...-BA600-Batteries-lot-of-2pcs-wholesalers.html
If you have to use customer support, that means the battery doesn't work properly. While it's good to have it, it doesn't mean an awful lot in goods that can't be repaired. I agree with you if we're talking of durable goods and services: there you need people who can repair the thing or solve your problem. Nevertheless, fungible goods like batteries don't merit tech support.
Plus, they're in the US, which is basically as far away from where I live as China is. Shipping a faulty battery back and forth costs basically the same as buying one of the Chinese batteries.

what if the s4 battery fits in the s3 ?
would be great right ? and gonna give us some great battery life especially with 4.2.2
Why not just buy a third party battery specially made for the S3? Or, if you're a fan of having an extreme battery life, buy one of these:

Buy plenty of new or used car batteries, like this one:
and fit them all on the trolley and connect them in a parallel circuit, then connect some sort of transformer so you can connect your phone to it. Carry it with you at all times and your battery will never run dry for as long as you live.
Note. Do not connect them in a series circuit, it has to be a parallel circuit.

Unless Samsung has invented some new battery technology in the past 12 months, the S4 battery will be physically larger than the S3 battery since it has 24% greater capacity (2600 vs 2100 mAh).
Remember that guy who asked if it was possible to physically shorten the battery length? Slappy threw him a pic of a saw and he was like "well yeah that'd work" kinda.

Well, actually there are some official 1800mA batteries (might have been from galaxy s armani and another phone) that were found to perfectly fit i9000 (stock i9000 battery is 1500mA) - they were slightly heavier and a fraction of a millimeter thicker (which didn't affect the back cover fit). There was also an unofficial 1800mA polarcell battery that was measured to have the full capacity.
Since that is a 20% increase, I believe that a 24% increase is within the realm of possibility. Also remember that the dimensions of the of the S4 are pretty similar to the S3 so they wouldn't be able to squeeze that much more room for the battery. That said, if I were to take a bet I'd guess it will be just a touch bigger.
The only way we can know for sure is if someone measures it though lol. Does anyone have a pic of the back cover so we can see if theres any obvious difference at least?

Or something simple just to prevent the back from scratching like this: (I have a black colored ZU it should look better than the picture) http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Thin-Hard-Ba...ll_Phone_PDA_Cases&hash=item232dfd0503&_uhb=1
All I know is that with a phone as monstrous as this, thin and lightweight cases are the only possibility as the phone is already approaching the limit of pocket-ability on it's own. Share your thoughts and finds guys!
Sony store sell the z ultra original case with Rm129....around $42

They shipped it today so I hope for a delivery during next week.
I was thinking of getting this.

I really want the oem that sony includes in some of the Xperia ZU boxes but i cant find where to buy it from online.
I would like to find a case/wallet options. It would make my life a lot easier.

really liking this pouch - but the seller won't ship to Canada! WTH
plus i cant decide between black or red - my Ultra is black
Looks like large sized phones tends to have more flip cases than just shells. I'm not a fan of flips cases, prefer just shells/back-only casings.
The origin case from Sony (Malaysia) actually quite awesome.
I get it free during purchase the phone.

the original case from sony looks great.
slim, sleek looking has card holder.
and big plus is the protection for the corners of the phone.
the last point is often absent from other cases.

This is definitely one of my faves from there, I'm getting it in black.

How about any holsters? I'm thinking it might be easier to carry on my belt than it is in my pocket, and I prefer to use the phone without a case. So a thin horizontal holster might work.
It'll look very 90s, but I can live with that.
I'm using it with just two screen protectors on back and front. Same with my Xperia Z

Same here, using 2 protectors and being extra careful until decent cases arrive in my country.
Sony will start selling a battery back up case soon. This will solve the issue of poor battery performance. According to staff at Sony Center KLCC, the Smartwatch 2, SBH52 bluetooth headset and more covers will be available later this month.

So it's like Sony Vaio's sheet battery? Sweet.
For the case, I'm inclined to buy the baseus cover.. The only downside is that looks like the magnetic charging port is blocked.. The nillkin hardcase seems to leave the corners more vulnerable, not to mention the a-lot-to-break screen.. But on the plus side it is very simple and sexy.
I'm conflicted now Waiting to hear your reviews about the cases

Actually I'm quite fond of battery cases. Yeah it may "defeat the purpose" of the ultra slim design of smart phones these days but to me, it gives me more "weight" and "grip" to the overall devise which I like :good:
3rd Generation Sony Magnetic Charging Cable
-Stronger magnet
-aluminium design
-LED indicator
-more expensive

Of COURSE it just came out: This morning, I ordered the DK-30 magnetic dock!
Oh, well; I can use one at home and other at work.
Link to buy?

It is a SONY DCU28
http://www.ebay.com/itm/321377280056
I wanna buy one cause it looks so good..but I don't have a purpose for it, I'm just gonna stick it in a box and forget about it just like with my DK-30
A pretty nice looking cable to be fair, not sure how I could justify paying that though.

That's not a genuine Sony product is it? I tried googling it and all i find is Ebay links and chinese sites. It's kind of bad to use the Sony brand if it's a fake.

nope doesn't look like it. If i search the original part for the magnetic cable its the same as to the z ultra. The only difference is that the OEM cable I found was white ..
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Brand-New-O...Phone_PDA_Cables_Adapters&hash=item338c8c5991
I had my suspicions but to OP ...do you have the source of this release? I can not find any press release saying this is a legit product of SONY. And even so ...why does the magnetic cable have two visible screws securing the contact to the housing?? No one does this..
I was found it on Malaysia forum, don't know where the seller get the stock.

By doing a Google search for one of the photos shown above, I found more photos here.
yours uses a green LED; the OP's LED is red when charging, blue when fully charged. Are you sure yours has the OP's extra-strong magnet?

I am keen on obtaining this product.
Just wanted to make sure, is this genuine or 3rd party?

I bought this and it didn't work at all for me. Didn't say on the phone.
I have two coming, sometime in the next three weeks. Downside of ordering stuff from China. Hoping at least one of them work but I'm not too optimistic. I've wanted more money on less.

They still working out for you? My biggest beef (which isn't a deal breaker at all) with the xperia Z2 is having to open the water resistant flaps to charge the device! Couple of these around the house and one at work would be just superb.
What is the charging speed like? Similar to the microUSB and/or magnetic charging dock?

Anyone got the link to the charger with the strong magnets?
I had the basic magnetic charger for my z2 but it sucked, always fell out really easily.
