what if the s4 battery fits in the s3 ?
would be great right ? and gonna give us some great battery life especially with 4.2.2
Why not just buy a third party battery specially made for the S3? Or, if you're a fan of having an extreme battery life, buy one of these:

Buy plenty of new or used car batteries, like this one:
and fit them all on the trolley and connect them in a parallel circuit, then connect some sort of transformer so you can connect your phone to it. Carry it with you at all times and your battery will never run dry for as long as you live.
Note. Do not connect them in a series circuit, it has to be a parallel circuit.

Unless Samsung has invented some new battery technology in the past 12 months, the S4 battery will be physically larger than the S3 battery since it has 24% greater capacity (2600 vs 2100 mAh).
Remember that guy who asked if it was possible to physically shorten the battery length? Slappy threw him a pic of a saw and he was like "well yeah that'd work" kinda.

Well, actually there are some official 1800mA batteries (might have been from galaxy s armani and another phone) that were found to perfectly fit i9000 (stock i9000 battery is 1500mA) - they were slightly heavier and a fraction of a millimeter thicker (which didn't affect the back cover fit). There was also an unofficial 1800mA polarcell battery that was measured to have the full capacity.
Since that is a 20% increase, I believe that a 24% increase is within the realm of possibility. Also remember that the dimensions of the of the S4 are pretty similar to the S3 so they wouldn't be able to squeeze that much more room for the battery. That said, if I were to take a bet I'd guess it will be just a touch bigger.
The only way we can know for sure is if someone measures it though lol. Does anyone have a pic of the back cover so we can see if theres any obvious difference at least?
EDIT: Judging from this picture it's wider http://cdn1.mos.techradar.com///art...ndsOn/Samsung_Galaxy_S4_review_14-900-100.JPG

it says under battery info 4105mv does that mean anything?
That is the battery voltage. The voltage lowers as the battery energy is used. It is just an indicator of how much juice you have left in the battery. At 4.105 volts, you must have a battery that is close to fully charged. The only way I know of to test actual capacity of the battery is by monitoring the charging time, or monitoring how long it takes to completely drain. The larger the battery, the longer it will take to do both (typically). If you want to know the exact capacity, you will need to drain the battery at a constant current and monitor the time it takes to discharge, thus giving you the mAh (current * hours) of the battery.
I wonder if it's the same battery I picked up. I didn't get mine from ebay though, so I think I paid nearly $30 in total.
I can't tell the difference between the two batteries. I just swap them once a day and go about my business.

I have this battery and a white battery cover to match and it last all day everyday no matter what i do with my phone. I stream 3g internet radio while driving and have hello im, peeps, and bloo running pretty much constantly.
As for the thickness.. it's really much better to use the keyboard with the new battery cover for me. It's definitely thicker in the pocket, but I'm always doing something on my phone like twitter, facebook, or aim so I battery life > looks. I actually like the way it looks with all white.

Hi guys, I just picked up a used G1 and have been researching eBay.co.uk's batteries. Ignoring the weakest one and finding the best price for each same type, I found these:
1200 mAH £3.80 "z388" (only $3.96 on ebay.com, so I ordered one, since it's only a £2.40)
-- larger--
2300 mAH £8.00 "z411" ugly bulged cover.
2300 mAH £8.95 ugly bulged cover and say 2200 on the battery.
2300 mAH £8.98 flat extended cover, battery says "2400mAH"
2850 mAH £10.99 flat cover.
I ignored the 1700 one. since the write-up says different. I don't want the bulge on the cover because it looks stupid, probably going to get the 2850 if it's a genuine figure. I think the eBay.com prices are about the same for the others (they all come from HK anyway). But a standard sized 1700 would be sweet if it were real.

I think I might buy that. Slimmer than the mugen, and it doubles as a portable charger or extender for 35 bucks.
I see one problem with it though, can't take the stylus out with the phone in it.

Actuall i think you can. If you look at the corner there appears to be a gap there. I bet thats an opening to access the s-pen. I dunno, if you look at picture 4 and 7, it shows the word "IN". 4 looks like where the stylus would be, but on picture 7 its the same spot on the phone just flipped and it shows the USB port for charging it.
Looks like a good alternative for $35. Total charge capacity would be 5500 mAh, assuming all 3000 mAh of the Brando battery can be transferred to the phone. That would be about the same as the Mugen 5400 mAh extended battery.

It's not a passthrough, so the placement doesnt matter much. The thickness will prevent it from being used it most/all docks. According to the site you must take this off the phone in order to charge it or the phone. I do tons of supplemental charging on and off through the day that this is absurd and out of the question for me. But if you find yourself only charging at night only then this is not likely to be a big issue for you, only you will need to have a second charger at your night stand to charge them both.
see i plug mine in a lot through the day as well... would be nice to see one with pass though charging as well.
Looks cool but I think it would add to much weight and bulk.
not for At&t i717 note?!?
I think the pic is of the unbranded note and it is different enough to not fit at&t model.
I purchased a miikey external 5200 mah(? Not sure of #, but close) and it is like having 3 extra batteries without turning off phone to change out.
cost was: orig. $89.95, i hit a nice sale and got it for $50.oo purchased at at&t store in central nj!
the only thing it is not good for is if you need power when connected to a pc.
my original battery either needs calibration after rooting or i have a defective battery. so, i use this till i can figure out what is going on. prolly needs calibration.

I thought that that is the normal price for a good quality battery. Don't buy cheap batteries on ebay, they make them out of expired cells.
I think you can pre-order if it's out of stock:
" If ordered now, it will be shipped on August 31, 2012."
I've used augmented batteries from Chinese brands in all of my smartphones (Galaxy S, Xperia Play, HTC Sensation, Galaxy Nexus). No issues so far. I've bought a couple of 1800 mAh batteries from Aliexpress. Mugen just want to fetch top dollar for what is worth pennies. I don't begrudge them for that, but I vote with my wallet.
Here they are: http://www.aliexpress.com/product-f...-BA600-Batteries-lot-of-2pcs-wholesalers.html
If you have to use customer support, that means the battery doesn't work properly. While it's good to have it, it doesn't mean an awful lot in goods that can't be repaired. I agree with you if we're talking of durable goods and services: there you need people who can repair the thing or solve your problem. Nevertheless, fungible goods like batteries don't merit tech support.
Plus, they're in the US, which is basically as far away from where I live as China is. Shipping a faulty battery back and forth costs basically the same as buying one of the Chinese batteries.

I've got that battery, bought it last week and it arrives yesterday. I've not used it yet though, but I'm not using my Xperia U until ICS is out, so I can't compare it to the normal battery anyway.
Will post a review about a week or two after ICS is out.
Based on what the Apple announcement said about the increased battery life of iPhone 5, I was disappointed to see that it's not outright better than my Rezound. My GF just got the iPhone 5 and she was watching some youtube videos on LTE for about 10 minutes and the battery drained to 85% from full charge. That's about the same discharge rate as my Rezound.
I thought it was supposed to have good "screen on" time because of how the new display is closer to the glass, or right on the glass or thinner (I forget what the exact spec is).
Not trying dump on the iPhone. I think it's a good phone, but I was really hoping to see great battery life. Perhaps that would push all manufacturers to improve on efficiency and/or capacity.
But who knows, maybe the battery still needs to be broken in after more cycles.
Must be something wrong. I would get an iPhone just for battery.

Nice. Is that 5 hrs mostly screen on time or mixed with screen off while playing music?
I'm suspicious of that "iPhone has been plugged in since the last full charge" message. I had older iPhones, and you could drain them almost dead and then charge them almost full and you'd get that message and your stats would not be reset. My original 2G iPhone was the only one I got anywhere close to those kind of numbers on, and I'm not convinced even it would have made that. Show me one that made that amount of time without being plugged in again and I'll be impressed.
That's not mine that was my friends. I plugged it into my computer to authenticate my itunes with his phone for like 5 min. They seriously last a long time...

The display being closer to the glass doesn't (or at least shouldn't as far as I know) have an effect on the power draw. They did that to minimize glare.

It does have an effect in battery life. They combined the digitizer and LCD into one piece, so that's just one less piece the battery has to power, meaning better (albeit very slight) battery performance.
The main reason the iPhone has life like that is because iOS is coded in C. Someone translated android into C and it tripled battery life http://blog.xamarin.com/2012/05/01/android-in-c-sharp/

I keep seeing that now because of you, and wish there were ROMs coded in C# for the Rezound lol.
Of course we'd lose all apps.

Android has already been ported to C#.

You could probably make a C# Android based ROM if you really wanted to go through all the trouble...

Cool. Very interesting. Hmm.... why did Google use Java/dalvik? Google employs some of the smartest people in the world. A mystery is afoot.

Because that was already available. Android is kind of a giant kang of Linux, so they swiped a lot of code for it. Also, keep in mind android was one heck of a messy OS before their recent improvements, so I must say that up until ICS, the android team was certainly not owned by some of the smartest people in the world
I just made the switch from my aging 4.0.1 ROM to AOSP CM9 and now my battery life is just absolutely terrible. First time I've ever seen an AOSP ROM drain a phones battery significantly faster than a Sense ROM....

whoops =0
My phone's battery life went to hell after switching to CM9. After 2 and a half hours of mild web/social network/etc surfing, the standard battery dropped from 100 to 33%. Besides the battery issue, it's been running marvelously.
I'm always a bit cheerios as to what firmware people are on when they say that have terrible battery life..
I got around 2 hours on the cm9 rom. On viperrez I get 5-6 hours on LTE tethering.

Yeah, it works great, just got it on Wednesday. Battery is factory LG, no difference in capacity.

No, it did not, it didn't really matter to me because I have WAY too many anyway, it takes micro usb.
where can you buy one of these that isn't a knockoff? Like the actual ones that shipped with the Korean model. I can't find one that looks legit on ebay.

Must not be looking very hard, http://www.ebay.com/itm/181468037325?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
Are these batteries oem or knock offs? And do they NFC in them?

And the battery has nothing to do with nfc.

Glad that I asked, your a great guy and have amazing patience with people. I did read your post and I have gotten batteries in the past that said they were OEM but weren't. And batteries in the past did determine whether NFC worked but maybe your new. Good talking though.

Lol, I'd love to hear your explanation for what nfc has to do with replacement batteries for this device.

obviously your a rookie so I'll explain you... feel free to do your own research.
Yes your phone has the nfc chip but in order for it to work it needs an antenna which is on your battery smart guy. I'm sorry for wasting space on this thread but the NFC question is a valid one and would determine if some people but them.

From my understanding the RFID antenna is in the battery that connects to the actual NFC chip which is on the circuit board of the phone. They are selling batteries that do not have NFC support. This was a issue with the Galaxy Nexus. Here is a link to batteries that don't have NFC support.

So your answer on the NFC is?????????? Maybe you should go down to circle k and see if google wallet is working

Well, this isn't the galaxy nexus, and the nfc isn't in the battery, no matter how much you want it to be. I've never owned the galaxy nexus, so I don't know anything about how it was setup, but I did have an HTC DNA. And it's nfc/Qi coils were stuck to the non removable battery and the battery cover was just a cover. That's not the case with the G3, whereas the nfc/Qi coils are attached to the battery cover. There are versions of the cover out there that either support nfc only, nfc & Qi, or nothing at all. So, I can easily understand the confusion around the subject.
Here's a picture of two different covers, one with an nfc/Qi circuit and one with nfc only. On the dual purpose one, the nfc is the perimeter square circuit with the inner rounded one being for Qi.

Very informative, every company does their own thing. I did own the Galaxy Nexus and Samsung usually does their NFC chips inside their batteries. Galaxy Nexus (pretty much an S2), S3, S4 and S5 all have NFC chips in their battery

Im not quite sure who pissed in everyone's cheerios but your snob attitudes to people on these forums is what gives XDA a bad rep. If someone uses mis-information then by all means correct them, but i you cant reply to someone without being pricks then dont reply at all.
As for the question if NFC/Qi is on the battery argument. It depends on the manufacturer. Lg's NFC/Qi is on the battery cover. For S3, S4, S5 and Galaxy Nexus they were built into the battery.

i bought one last night. work good?
Oy oy oy. 52 bones. Maybe if it was from best buy... But I can't wrap my head around that price from eBay especially the battery.
I do like the idea of that. Does it have indication of how full it is? Because I would prefer to only top off from 40 to 90 and just swap battery as needed.
Guess I could use timer. Or just say f it, two batteries would theoretically degrade half as much in a year due to shared usage....
