[Q] Anybody tried 4 button Navigation Bar with Menu Key? - Sony Xperia Z Ultra

I came from Samsung and really miss the Menu Key at the bottom.
Z Ultra menu key is at the top in all programs and really a pain to get the finger there.
I found 2 Mods in Xperia Z forum and I think it may be work on my rooted Ultra as most of the things are same.
But, we don't have CWM Recovery and can't flash. Anyone able to try below?

I know Ultimate Dynamic Navbar, but it is not like real Navbar and cover-up the items(eg., Keyboard) under it.
Cheers!

You may try 'Auto Hide Soft Keys'. You will not need the cwm to install this app.

Thanks. But, I don't want to hide soft keys.
I just want Menu Soft Key in Navigation Bar(Soft Key Bar).

That one can make it happen, but as well as hide soft keys when you dont use them.
By the way, in my view, most menu still remains the same position on the top right of the screen, wherever appears the menu button.
So, hopes u know what i am saying...XD

Thanks. Auto Hide is quite same with Ultimate Dynamic Navbar and cover-up the keyboard.
But with UDN, the stock Navbar can hide and make Android think it has Hardware Menu Button. So, menu boxes show at bottom.
Just what I found out and still not found what I need.
Cheers!

I am using UDN, I think the App is Fantastic :good:

Have you tried installing the Xposed Framework + GravityBox?
Here's my setup (sorry for the screenshot; I'm a big Loki fan)

"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
The leftmost button adds a sort of favorite app launcher that houses 8 apps you can predefine using GravityBox. The rightmost button is Menu and launches the menu on other apps as well.
I found that the transparency doesn't work though; the color must be hardcoded in by Sony. It's a problem that I'm willing to overlook because I have the extra two buttons though.

Minimalistic Text and Tasker

I'm working on theming and customizing my Atrix. I've been using Minimalistic Text and Tasker for a few things. I've got it setup to show me specific notification types. Is there a way I can set it up to show me the notification bar if I tap it? Or even set it up to show current signal strength?
Thanks
I think that it's not possible to do that with minimalistic text, but you can try Zoom, a flexible widget made by the same guy that made Tasker.

Why not just use something like Elixir:
Elixir

I'm currently using LauncherPro Plus with the notification bar hidden. I wanted to be able to tap something on my home screen to bring it up, but I may try Elixir and see how it goes.
i know it's not the same launcher, but on Go Launcher EX you can set it to swipe-gestures on any of the dock buttons (ex. the apps button) hides/shows the notification bar

In settings you can set it so the home button hides/shows the notification bar when on the homescreen.

In launcher pro plus, if you long press on the app drawer button, and select swipe gesture action, then select Show/Hide status bar, it should do what your looking to do. Works awesome, doesn't get in the way of anything, and all you have to do is swipe up on the App drawer launcher icon. You can also set your messaging/phone icon to show missed sms/calls. Took me a while to find that feature, hope it helps.

[Q] Alphanumeric-style keyboard like on the PSP?

I was wondering if there was a way to use the playstation controls as a keyboard very similar to the way it is on a PSP when typing. Where the hardware buttons help to type. For example, The shoulder buttons move the cursor left and right, X confirms the key, [] backspaces, start is enter, select changes the style of onscreen keyboard. etc. etc.
I do not have an Xperia play yet, still have my htc fuze, but it would be nice if it had this feature because im very proficient with typing on my PSP. Thanks.
No...but it can be used to scroll through the home screens and the app drawer.

umm, i guess that's cool. As long as the buttons are usable for other things than games. I was kinda hoping other people had the same idea as me, and used those buttons for more. i was either hoping to find the PSP style on-screen keyboard, or the makeshift keyboard from gt4, which uses the analog to select a block on a 3x3 grid and the face buttons to select a letter. It's called the Danzel keyboard.
Sigh, i wish the PSP homebrew community was on the Xperia play. I guess it's time to learn to program.
How about the below idea

or
?
Tried to describe it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1187053
Maybe also making square PS key to backspace, triangle to shift (single press upper case next key, double press Caps Lock), X and Start buttons Enter, O and Select buttons spacebar. Unless Select button could be used to switch qwerty... row to numbers 1234... etc. Turning the touchpad into 2-mode keyboard, so main mode lettering could be printed in black on the touchscreen as above and secondary (numbers, symbols, etc) in grey next to them in grey and/or smaller size...
Menu button below PS directional ones to popup the built-in onscreen keyboard for numbers/symbols, etc input?

[Q] Custom Keyboards - Plz Help.

I think I've downloaded about a dozen keyboards, googled a million images, but I can't find what I want.
Why do they all have stupid keys and menus in additional rows that I can't remove nor do I need taking up my screen space.
I think Go Keyboard was about the worst.
This one isn't too bad because the keypad size is adjustable but I still don't need their stupid menu keys.

I just want a fully functional keyboard that looks clean.
Predominantly white.
And I do want the ability to add the arrow key row.
Scalable keys / keypad is also a plus.
I don't want big keys.
I don't want big spaces between keys.
I don't want 3d or bevelled keys.
I don't want additional keys or menus.
Can someone plz help.

Are there feature unlocks in the trial upgrade?
There's no next word prediction?
And you have to type the full word and space just to get prediction for the current word?

Opaque on screen buttons.

So with the drawer locked (little button) it's not see through but with it unlocked but on screen you can see through. Why can't I see through on locked mode like on Google phone.

EDIT: SORRY, re-reading for like the sixth time I see I did misunderstand your question. You are only asking about ONE on screen button that is opaque vs translucent -- and the conditions WHY -- not about the entire navigation bar (which LG calls Home Touch buttons) being translucent or even visible. Anyway, hope my answer below this helps someone else!
To answer YOUR question... maybe LG feels that one button being opaque is an easy visual indicator it is locked. Then, unlocked it's translucent. Whereas Google doesn't have such styling concerns.

If I'm understanding the question correctly, and I admit I may not...
It had to do with whether you are in full screen mode or not. Sometimes called immersive mode. When NOT in that mode, you will always have the navigation buttons at the bottom. LG calls them "Home Touch buttons".
When in that mode, navigation buttons are translucent or even missing (invisible). When missing you can swipe up from the bottom to make them appear. They will then appear and be translucent. You might want immersive mode for videos or such.
There's a Settings menu to decide which apps you always want to be in immersive mode. Or you can manually do it by clicking on that very left small arrow button on the by navigation bar (unless you've rearranged the icons). I think you referred to it as "locking the drawer" which confused me.
I really only want video to be immersive. With this V30 tall screen, I don't mind visible navigation buttons at the bottom.
I found this issue because my corporte email app, called Nine, didn't have arrows at the bottom for me to go back easily. I could swipe up and force the navigation bar to appear, but other apps were not that way. Sort of irritating. So,I found the Settings menu with all my apps listed, where Nine had this "feature" enabled. I disabled it for that app.
This may not be exactly what you're asking about, and if so then I apologize.

Hints, Tips and Tricks

Haven't come across a good Hints/Tips/Tricks thread for this phone, so figured I'd start something up. Feel free to add anything!
Tired of white notifications when using Dark Mode?
Install "Power Shade" from the Playstore to open up customization options for your notification window, and better yet, set the background colour of notification windows to anything you like!
It also ads the option for a little bar that lets you "swipe down for notifications" rather than using LG's option for a button in the tray.
Link ---> https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.treydev.pns&hl=en_US
Unfortunately Power Shade removes the option in the notification to change your audio source (BT, phone speakers, etc.)
I simple fix is an app called "Smart Audio Switch" that allows a permanent notification that brings back functionality.
Link ---> https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.codococo.smartaudiorouter&hl=en_US
Want to use "Wide Mode" and use both screens for any app?
Most of you already know about this, but the app called "G8X Wide Mode" allows you to use any app across both screens.
Link ---> https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.refy.android.g8x.widemode&hl=en_US
Want to use the LG Game Pad for games that only play in portrait?
One of the only games I play on my phone is called "Vista Golf" which is just a little mini putt game, but with gorgeous yet simple graphics, and an endless number of randomly generated courses.
I was excited to play the game with the game pad, however the game pad really only works in landscape, and Vista Golf plays in portrait.
I use an app called "Control Screen Orientation" which you can use to force apps into landscape.
Link ---> https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ahapps.controlthescreenorientation&hl=en_US
This enabled me to use the LG Game Pad with the game, and setup a custom controller and works great.
Hate the old "Lollipop" Rolodex style task switcher?
For the life of me I have no idea why LG implemented the old rolodex style task switcher, seems so out dated.
Fortunately there is a simple fix.
If you go to Settings>Display>Home Touch Buttons and change from "Buttons Only" to "Gesture and Buttons", it completely changes the style of the task switcher.
You still get a back and a home button, and a simple swipe up from anywhere on the nav button pane will bring up a proper task switching menu.
You can go from this:
