Hello,
If i want to sell my device and be 100% sure to delete all files.
What is the best thing to do?
Cause when i just delete storage it still says xx GB is used.
How to clean the entire phones of all files?
Thanks!
Boot into Bootloader, and apply factory reset. when you reboot the phone, it is like a new one which has just come out of the box.

I changed from an iPhone 4 in May to the Samsung Note. On my iPhone I would immediately jailbreak and install MyWi. In my research to do the same on the note I ran across a rooting tutorial for my device and followed the instructions http://www.androidauthority.com/galaxy-note-att-i717-root-without-increasing-flash-counter-61325/ (I am not positive, but I feel confident this is the one I followed). I installed Superuser and Titanium Backup, did a backup of ATT connection manager, then removed it. Tethering worked like a charm. This has worked and I had no issues until Friday June 14th.
On Friday, everytime I opened an app on my phone I would get a Force Close. I restarted the phone and watched as it repeatedly happened after every cycle. Believing that installing Droid VNC Server was the issue, the last app I had installed, I removed it successfully and included others I didn’t use. Upon reboot, I noticed the notification of App Updates and a missed call. Checked the application list and noticed that all of the apps I had just removed were still there. I have a ton of pics and videos and thought that I should back them up immediately before I deleted them, prepared for the worst. I was able to do that. I deleted them all, nothing in the gallery. When the phone crapped out again and rebooted, all apps and all pictures back.
I formatted the USB Storage, seemed to delete nothing and also showed the same amount of used space as before.
Time for a restore. I know now that the recovery partition is gone and so a Wipe/reset is fruitless. No problem. I know how to flash the rom. I used this method with Odin. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1506330
Everything seemed to work successfully, but upon reboot I get the same app updates notification and the same missed call notification. The same frozen state my phone was in when the issue started on Friday. WTH!
I have everything backed up. How do I get back to stock? I could care less about the counter. I just want my phone to be usable again.

did you try wiping Catche and Dav?
Wipe Catch > Wife Davlik > Fix Permision, then reboot ..
see what happens ..
Not a noob, but here is where i am lost
I booted in to recovery, chose to Wipe/Erase . I see no option to Wipe Davlik except for in SuperUser and there it is a paid option, not sure where to find Fix Permission and then reboot?
I am assuming these are all options for CWM. I attempted to put CWM on an SD card last night and install from ZIP, but Recovery does not seem to see the SD card.
Are these options that are available for CWM, if so I will push through until I get it to work, but I have had no luck to this point.

I have attempted to Flash ROMs I don't desire just to move forward. They all flash and pass in Odin but on reboot I still have my default screen. Unfortunately, I want to go back to stock. I have done plenty of research and need something more to push on to the next thing. I am looking at phone and there is not an Advanced option in recovery. I have read there are options in CWM but I am looking at what I believe is the stock recovery options.

after you are rooted ,
you should have nothing to do with Odin.
and also, if you were stuck on your phone trying to boot up, chances are you keep downloading a bad ROM..
happen to me before..a ROM that was suposed to be 192MB,
would finish on 158MB
someone else may be able to help you get back to stock ROM..i havent had the chance to ever wanna go back to stock so i wouldnt know for sure.
sorry and good luck .

So, maybe I am a newb. I have followed the instructions to install CWM on my device and it even says it was successful. I am doing it from ODIN. See the file I downloaded here. Says it was successful but holding the volume up and then power button. NO CWM.
I am truly frustrated but I want my phone back. Can someone link me to the stupid people posts so I can get my phone working again?

You now have a custom recovery(according to Odin). The problem is, you're doing the wrong key combo as stated above. You can also go to the market and grab FJ's power tool. You can boot into recovery directly from the app. Good luck.

Still having issues. Here is the deal.
I have the phone in Download mode
https://www.dropbox.com/s/dnk6ekjqp9vddev/2012-06-19 19.40.01.jpg
I load the CWM Recovery in the PDA box. Start the flash, get a pass. All looks good to me.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/5q4hayf35mm26wr/odin-success.PNG
I immediately attempt to access CWM Recovery by holding the power, vol+ and vol- and still get the default recovery
https://www.dropbox.com/s/d176blydonlvrlu/2012-06-19 20.13.42.jpg
I am so confused as to what I am doing wrong.
Unfortunately those pics aren't loading for me. Try again with the pic of recovery and the file you're flashing. Thanks. If you still have stock recovery then maybe that's what you're flashing in error.
Try volume up + down and power button. When phone vibrates, release power button but keep holding volume buttons until you are in cwm.
I would use Odin to flash cwm touch recovery from pda, then load a rom via cwm. Using that method you don't even need to root because it's all done at bootloader level and root is built in to the custom rom you flash

My springboard has a password screen that just showed up one day. I haven't been able to use it since. I didn't put that on there unless one of my kids.
I guess I need to do a full factory reset or something to get redo it. Anybody know how to wipe data and start over?

Hello,
I have an unlock E970 running custom rom on T-mobile right now, and I would like to return it back to original stock rom. I've been reading threads in in the last couple days, but still not finding a clear procedure to do this. From what I understand I have to do it in phone download mode instead of install by zip file. Please someone can spare some times to show me the steps and needed files to do this.
BTW: Will my phone still be carrier unlock after return to stock, it will lock backto at&t again?
Thank you,

Sim unlock persists after returning to stock. If you are not restoring so you can do warranty exchange there is a stock+root flashable zip you could use.

Adfurgerson is correct. Unless you need it to go in for warranty service or get inspected for modifations by your employer, his link will get you to where you want to be. If you are in one of the aforementioned scenarios, post back soon and I'll point you over to #lg-g2 on freenode, or if you know what that means and how to get there, just show up and I or someone else will get you squared away.

I've try this rom, but the installation does not go right:
If some one can shed some light of what I have done wrong:
1 First I boot into Teamwin Recovery
2.Select factory wipe
3 Select advange wipe, then I choose cache, davik cache, system, data wipe ( the only one I do not include is Internal Storage)
4 After it done wiping, I choose install then select the zip file
5 Here is the problem start: my screen show extracting....t then installing... for like a mimutes, then it said finished.
6.Now I choose Reboot then the screen showed that I have no OS at all
7.Now I have to go back and select intall zip again (this time without any wipping) then the phone this time take a little longer to install. And I does boot into new Rom just install.
8.Here is it get weird: If I connect my phone to my pc I can see the phone all most have double folders. (It has all the normal files folder plus a 0 FODERS when I open that 0 file folder it contain all the other folders that I have in the upper level
It seem like it extract most of the files and folds twice.
I have not experience this with other custom rom
Did I miss a step???
Please advise
Thank you!
Hi,
I tried rooting my phone for the first time today and it didn't go as planned.
I used this tutorial: /watch?v=gIeq8Jx28cs
In part 1 everything went great, but in this part: /watch?v=80lMHUgxwww there is a problem.
I can't go into the recovery mode. My phone did a factory reset after the "root" and now I don't have anything on the phone.
BTW it says that the phone is unlocked, but it isn't rooted. I need help ASAP. Thanks in advance.

Unlocked means your bootloader is unlocked, and you probably flashed your recovery wrong or forgot to flash it altogether. Try reflashing it.
(It probably did a factory reset because when you press recovery while running stock recovery, it automatically does a factory reset).

Can you be more specific about what I need to do? I'm pretty noobish at these things if you haven't noticed
And is there a way to get my apps back? I had like $40 worth of paid apps on there.

Hi all,
I recently got a new Axon 7 (A2017U) and wanted to root it just like my old G3. I tried following DrakenFX's instructions (Here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/development/wip-axon-7-root-bootloader-unlokced-t3441204), but I got lost. I ended up with a password being requested at the android startup screen. In a panic, I clicked Format Data when I got back into TWRP, that made it worse and I went into EDL to see if that might help. Eventually I got back into TWRP and that's where I am now, desperately trying to get my new phone working again. All the threads I read only add another layer of confusion. Would someone be willing to walk me through the steps of fixing my phone? I really don't want to RMA/have $400 to go down the drain. I'd own you a big one.

Hi,
so you have access to the TWRP. Thats good. Do you have access to a stock ROM from your manufacturer? In case yes, you could simply flash the stock.
For this, the rom has to be on a SD card or on the internal memory of the phone.
In TWRP go to "Install", than navigate to the file and swipe to install (it comes a zip file).

I'm looking for one. Some threads pointed to an OTA update that ZTE has on their site. However, when I try to install things on TWRP, I get an error about "dev/block/sde14" being read-only. (It sometimes says "sde13" too.)

I am far from being a pro. I once had the problem that I was caught in bootloop and could not install a new rom. But I was able to re-flash TWRP (via Minimal adb and fastboot) and than everything was fine.
Maybe someone else can comment on that. On your own risk...
