Hi,
I have problem with my Streak 5 running DSC 2.2.
Whatever I set for wifi (using adv settings in wifi networking - setting turni off to "never") and via dsc config (setting Wifi timeout to "1 day" and Wifi PM to "Off/Off" my wifi card is deactivated after couple of minuted of sceeen off. It automaticaly up when screen is back to on.
Is there any other place where I can change that setting ?
I'm not sure but I think that with DSC 2.1 I haven't had that issue.
if you are downliading something then wifi wouldn't stop e en after switching screen off
i open whatsapp or facebook then let the phone sleep..... it serves the purpose

I'm listening music over the wifi (sharing samba resources) and unfortunately, when sceen is off and phone is on battery music stops to play after few minutes (like 5 mins) and the play again when I turn the screen on.

Yes, that's an idea. I will update to DSC 2.3 then. And what if you are not downloading anything but you are just waiting for email while screen is off ? Will the wifi keep the connection ?
no while the downloading is paused or wifi is not being used it disconnects sometimes but this disconnection is much reduced after dsc config

The WiFi disconnecting while the Streak is in deep sleep mode is a feature, not a bug. The purpose is to conserve battery life, and not letting the Streak enter deep sleep has been proven to severely affect battery life, as described in the thread for the CyanogenMod 7.2 ROM in Development. If you don't want the WiFi to disconnect, you need to prevent the Streak from entering deep sleep. Off the top of my head I don't believe either DSC ROM has a setting to disable deep sleep, but if you install Wake My Android Pro you can adjust the sleep mode that way. Just be aware that your battery life is going to suck.

Is anyone having issues with their wifi shutting off when the screen shuts off, regardless of the settings? I've tried all the settings in advanced wifi settings under wifi sleep policy, but my wifi always shuts off within a few minutes of the screen shutting off. This is problematic because I don't have a good Verizon signal at my house, so I sometimes don't get new emails until I turn the screen back on and wait for wifi to reconnect. I would like to have it stay in all the time when I set the policy to "never". I've seen some general google search results that indicate this could be an issue with 2.3.3, but I couldn't find anything specific regarding the X2. I am running 2.3.3 pre-rooted.

Also the same here with 2.3.3.
Check Battery Mode
This may or may not be related to your problem, but this behavior could be related to the battery mode you are using i.e. under Settings > Battery & data manager > Battery Mode
If you have it set to "Maximum battery saver", then the desired behavior is to turn off syncing after 15 minutes of inactivity. As far as I understand it, this may also turn off wifi etc. (This is also true from 10pm to 5am when using "Nighttime saver".)
Can you each comment on your current battery mode, and whether that might have something to do with the problem? Try for example to set it to "Performance mode" and see if the problem still occurs.
Ok i'd give it a shot i had mine at nighttime mode setting it to performance now see if that helps

Yeah... What he said... Battery mode... And yeah, a reply with whether that worked or not would be great to help others out when they come looking....
ok i went in the battery mode settings and it was set to performance mode, i switched it to the custom battery saver with no off-peak time interval. wifi still disconnects when idle.
DELETE....
Same thing here, battery is in performance mode. I usually change this right away when setting up the device and confirmed that it is still set to that.

Hi guys. I am on the official 2.3.4 sbf (rooted) and lately I have been having problems having wifi connected all the time. I have the wifi sleep policy set to never and also the battery saver does not have any settings to play with. I would like wifi to stay on all the time unless I use the widget button to turn it off. I also have not run any scripts. Please suggest any ideas.
You covered everything I could think of.
I don't have this issue.
Using nighttime saver, it's going to turn off at night regardless. Maybe that's your issue.

Guys, i've been bugged by this since the i9003 days.. While my sgsl was in froyo i can download while screen is off (using 3g) and after gb upgrade when i tuen off the screen download will stop.. After i bought sgs2 i thought it will change but the same thing happened.. I think it is a feature of Gb.. My question is, is there an app that lets you download over 3g even when the screen is off???

Do you have JuiceDefender installed? It shuts off data when screen is off by default. My S2 downloads over 3g or wifi just fine. I do use JuiceDefender though. I set it to allow a program to stay connected (opera, adownloader, etc). But that program needs to be in the foreground when screen turns off.
If you're having the issue with wifi, make sure the sleep policy is set to never.
Also, make sure your background data is enabled just in case if you changed it.

Your WiFi is set to turn off when screen is off you should be able to change this in WiFi settings as a side note it will cause more battery drain

You don't have Tasker installed, do you?
Probably there is some 'battery saving' app installed that has a profile to turn of 3g when screen is off.
I have a same trouble. My connection stops while the screen goes off. My wifi doen't go to sleep and I already checked option "Never" in wifi sleep policy setting. I can't listen music online or even download file has a large size while screen turn off. If I turn on it again, downloading will be continue. I think this cause is JuiceDefender, however, after uninstall it nothing change
I love my streak, but lately I've found it to be a much better experience to use my streak as a mobile hotspot for my wifi only tablet.
Problem is, if I'm not constantly using mobile data, it cuts out on me, and I have to "wake up" my phone by turning on the screen, and resending the data (usually, my page will hang, and I hit back on the tablet, turn the streaks screen on, and then touch the link or next button or whatever)
I'm usong the olleh 407 ROM, which I'm happy to swap out for another... and the 406 baseband.
Any ideas?

Go to settings wifi edit turn wifi sleep to always on
Sorry if posted before but searched on here on googled to no avail.
I'm running cm9 rc2 on my sg2, recently I've got a issue with my wifi. It seems to happen ever other day where at 02:06 the wifi turns on and stays on. Meaning if I've not plugged in to charge it drains the battery.
My phone always gets switched to airplane mode when I sleep and runs juice defender(which in its log states the time of 02:06 that wifi has been switched on by user), I'm also running tasker which checks to make sure other conditions are not running then will place into airplane mode and set cm9 profile to sleep.
Anyone had this issue? Or anyone got any idea a program that can log why wifi has come on by itself?
Thanks

I'm very sure an app or wrong profile settings is responsible for your problem,
This is the cause if the problem:
-the app needs internet around 2am,
-it discovers your phone is in flight mode
-it has a permission or settings to turn on Wi-Fi in the absence of mobile data.
-it then turns in your data.
Just try to track it down
-this app will sure cause a wakelock at that period,
-You can use better battery stats to track the app down
Good luck
