I've been having this problem for a while. Different roms and stock doesn't matter.
I'm currently using jelly beans build 21 build 18 did it so did 19 and stock did it as well.
Basically I stop receiving any and all notifications on my gn2 when I'm connected to 4g then when I either torn on wifi or hit a 3g area my phone goes absolutely crazy and I get however many were missing all at once.
It's very frustrating because I rarely use wifi at home being that I'm still unlimited and all.
My network connection works, I still get calls and text messages, just no notifications from apps
A Google and forum search turned up very little help.
Mine has begun the same behavior over the last few days, beans 21. I don't have a solution but wanted to let you know you're not alone opefully it'll resolve itself

any idea why it's doing this? it's extremely frustrating and happens almost daily... it makes little to no sense. I can't find any option that would seem to do this.
Have you checked in mobile network settings, and made sure it is set correctly?
Today, young ,men on acid realize that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, we are all one consciences sharing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are just imaginations of ourselves And now to the weather.....

Turn your phone off, pull the battery and get a tooth pick or paper clip and stuck it in and see if there's any lint in there. I had a pretty big lint ball in there a while ago and it was blocking one of the connectors and wouldn't trigger the headphone port.
Might work good luck bro.

I doubt its an app, it could be the ROM if you flashed one right before it stopped working. I'm just suggesting a quick possibility that I've ran into. Hopefully its something that simple.

Try a different set of headphones too just for S&G before uninstalling apps, tearing apart the FW, ETC...
Reason why is that my SGS had a similar situation recently, and for me it was a matter of my earbuds being at fault. Tried a different pair, and things worked fine. Yet the original pair in question ended up working on my Atrix.
You may not have the same issue, but its still worth a shot to try out...

Just yesterday my home button started making a clicking sound. It has been dead silent and now it clicks kinda like a mouse click (not as loud) whenever I press it. If I mash hard on it it will be silent for a few minutes, but then it start clicking again. The Wife's phone is quiet.... both bought same day. Anyone else experience this? It is annoying me as it makes the phone sound cheap, and makes me feel it is going to fail on me based on almost the same scenario with my iPhone 4 that did fail after making a random noise one day.

Same thing here. Had the phone about a month and this started. Phone is rooted, so taking it back to Verizon is out. I just ordered a white home button online. Supposedly this phone is super easy to take apart and replace parts. We'll see.

Mine isn't rooted and I have the insurance + warranty on it. I may call and see what they say. A few guys around me in my group here at work don't have this issue. I've had this phone since launch day, FWIW.

I would definitely bring it back then. I just don't want to go through the hassle of unrooting and possibly getting an ME7 phone that does not have a working recovery as of yet.

Rooting is not important to me. My phone is a work device and security reasons we can't have a rooted phone (B.S. if you ask me), so I play along nicely and do all my updates and keep it unmodified (except for developer access).

I just called and ordered a replacement. I am not worried about refurbs as a lot of the times they are better than new in my experience in being in the industry for a few years. I pressed the button down and stuck the corner of a business card in and ran it around the circumference of the button with a little bit of the card going up under the case a bit. This seems to have resolved the issues.... but just in case i have an overnight-ed replacement coming tomorrow.
Never mind. It's back. Glad I ordered a replacement now.

I did this as well. Really wedged the business card on all sides and got the card up under the button. Hasn't clicked for over two weeks now. Something from my pocket must have gotten under there.

Don't worry, there is a fix!! I had this same problem on my S4 and I have horrible OCD so this was not kosher. I found that the cause for the clicking is the button sticking, causing it to click when you press on it. All you need to do is get an electronics cleaning cloth, a business card, and some hand sanitizer. This will save you from having to send the phone in for repair or get a refurbished device.
Put some hand sanitizer on the cleaning cloth. Not too much, just enough to make it damp.
Put the cloth over the business card
Use the combination of the cloth and the card and using a little pressure, stick it between the button and the case and go all the way around the button.
If you didn't fix it the first time around, repeat until you are able to press the button without a click.
Note -- If you are mental, and use too much hand sanitizer you will damage your phone. You just need the cloth to be damp. I use hand sanitizer because it dries extremely fast. I am NOT responsible if you screw up your phone.
Happy cleaning
I have this as well! I thought it was because I went to the beach and got a tiny grain of sand beneath the button but I guess it happens to everyone!

I installed skype on my sgh-i527 but unfortunately it won open correctly. After input login info for skype all it does is to restart the program again again and again.. i never get to see my contacts... i have installed avast antivirus on my phone, could that be the reason? any one with the same problem?
Same problem here! I saw your post and signed up with a username just to reply... lol. But actually I'm EXCITED to see that we have ROOT NOW!! Just hope that will fix it or something...
I bought the Mega the day the Note 3 came out even though I knewing the Mega might not ever get Root. The Note 3's loud speaker is terrible for the price. I tested the Mega for 14 day to make for sure it was fast enough and could take all my old apps and its doing just fine! I was a little concerned about the 1.5 gs, 3 would be nice but I don't see the need now.

I think the big remaining issue here is that it likes to switch back to Power Save on its own.

Update. I think the solution is to leave gps on all the time. Then it won't switch back to Power Saving. Kitkat changed some things with location. On my Nexus 5, my gps was always on by default. Luckily it doesn't seem like there's extra battery drain to go with it like we have in previous Android versions.

I getting the ZTE Grand X Max + today in the mail to replace my samsung mega 6.3 phone that I cant stand cause I cant aswner phone calls. I decided to use crcket wireless cause I need to save money on my phone bill and 35 dollars a month is the best deal I found that gives me 2.5 gb of high speed data. but anyways. I not sure about the purchase. since there is no root for it so I cant have a custom experience with it.
WHAT ARE YOUR LIKES AND YOUR DISLIKES.
WHY I BOUGHT
SCREEN SIZE
PRICE
battery
why im unsure of purchase
low speaker volume
no root working as of yet.
Do you enjoy the phone as it is. or do you wish you went with a different phone
My wife has had hers for a month, I've had mine 2 weeks. The battery is awesome, mine goes through a 6 am to 10 pm day of use (a few videos, injustice/immortals gameplay, web browsing, phone, text) and still has an average of 20% by bedtime. The no root issue is a slight hindrance because the phone does not have apps to SD compatibility. The low speaker volume is only a big problem if your phone is your alarm, but for most daily tasks it is OK (I usually have Bluetooth connected anyway). Very few multitasking hiccups so far. Overall all though, for $200, I'm satisfied with the phone.

if that much is happening a custom rom may help, but it REALY sounds like Zte/Google needs to issue a bug fix for the rom

Even if ZTE did setup an update, Cricket wouldn't push them unless they were critical. Cricket wants people to replace their phones, they don't like customers that keep the same phone for years.
Its how they keep "operational costs" down.
