I am scratching my head of this one. Ever since I upgraded to KitKat my wifi speed has dropped to almost no existent. It was always rock solid on jellybean. Every other wireless device in my house is capable of normal download and upload speeds except my phone.
I am using freezas stockish rom if that helps. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Maybe try reflashing?
I'm on the NABD leak and wifi is working fine.

Have you actually ran a speed test. I can connect and stay connected no problem. The speed is not good at all

Yes speeds are fine for me. It's the same as it was on JB or CM11.
I guess I will try and reflash and see what happens.

Just because I received the answer deep in another thread, I wanted to post the solution here as well. The problem seems to be under settings, location, mode... If you are set to powersave, change it to any other mode and your speed will immediately come back to normal. I hope this info helps!

I think the big remaining issue here is that it likes to switch back to Power Save on its own.

Update. I think the solution is to leave gps on all the time. Then it won't switch back to Power Saving. Kitkat changed some things with location. On my Nexus 5, my gps was always on by default. Luckily it doesn't seem like there's extra battery drain to go with it like we have in previous Android versions.

Turn your phone off, pull the battery and get a tooth pick or paper clip and stuck it in and see if there's any lint in there. I had a pretty big lint ball in there a while ago and it was blocking one of the connectors and wouldn't trigger the headphone port.
Might work good luck bro.

I doubt its an app, it could be the ROM if you flashed one right before it stopped working. I'm just suggesting a quick possibility that I've ran into. Hopefully its something that simple.

Try a different set of headphones too just for S&G before uninstalling apps, tearing apart the FW, ETC...
Reason why is that my SGS had a similar situation recently, and for me it was a matter of my earbuds being at fault. Tried a different pair, and things worked fine. Yet the original pair in question ended up working on my Atrix.
You may not have the same issue, but its still worth a shot to try out...

Guys i have a serious problem with my phone....I have rooted and unrooted gs3....now its official and not rooted. The problem which i have is that the results of antutu are really unstable and becomes warm with two tests...I have got 16000 points and now i get 11000-13000(in antutu)....To reach 15000 again i have to let the phone get cold and start again the test....But this behavior is a little bit stange so i rely on your answers guys!
Have a nice day!
Had same problem on my S3 too. Im afraid you cant do anything about it. The heating problem should be gone in less than a week. After that your S3 should be back to normal.

I hope my gs3 come back to normal, but i dont think so...Does your gs3 works fine now???Can you donwload Antutu and run tests and post your results...It would help me alot!

I got 15000+ on mine. When your GS3 gets really hot it gets a lower score. The second time i run antutu i only got 13000. I think this problem is connected to the sudden death thing.

Well, samsung said it has something to do with their software and they have fixed it already. But the issue is still their. Lets just hope the upcoming 4.2.2 update for our GS3 will fix the issue, the update should arrive this may or june.

So you people are running stress tests on a stock rom, including a stock kernel? In that case please expect the phone to get hot, then slow down drastically when it does.
The stock kernel has conservative thermal throttling built in, nothing to do with SDS. It's behaving exactly as it should and I wouldn't advise trying to 'make it better'. Search here in Q&A for 'I killed my phone by overclocking'.
Some Gs3 units tend to heat up without even using it. Can you answer that?

I've been having this problem for a while. Different roms and stock doesn't matter.
I'm currently using jelly beans build 21 build 18 did it so did 19 and stock did it as well.
Basically I stop receiving any and all notifications on my gn2 when I'm connected to 4g then when I either torn on wifi or hit a 3g area my phone goes absolutely crazy and I get however many were missing all at once.
It's very frustrating because I rarely use wifi at home being that I'm still unlimited and all.
My network connection works, I still get calls and text messages, just no notifications from apps
A Google and forum search turned up very little help.
Mine has begun the same behavior over the last few days, beans 21. I don't have a solution but wanted to let you know you're not alone opefully it'll resolve itself

any idea why it's doing this? it's extremely frustrating and happens almost daily... it makes little to no sense. I can't find any option that would seem to do this.
Have you checked in mobile network settings, and made sure it is set correctly?

It is system with how it manages processor speed according to processor temp! No,It cannot harm your phone!
If you activate it will get right clock speed according to CPU temp. If CPU gets too hot it will lower CPU,so that CPU can get cooler and run smoothly! If your CPU gets too hot it can start to LAG on your system. I don't know why people force off it on E98x LG G Pro...???!!!
Principle is the same on CPU in phone as in computer/laptop. You all know that If CPU gets too hot or not cooled down enough it will get LAGY and start to throttle the system!

It's a zip that improves your overall phones responsiveness. Here is the page I used on xda
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2188416
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
I remember the consensus being that this didn't really help that much. The perceived increase in responsiveness and/or smoothness was a result of this "mod" keeping the CPU ramped up...
Regardless, this "mod" has been implemented in some custom kernels, well at least the frandom parts.
Someone chime in if I'm wrong or you know better...
