im really newbie on this new device..
i need to root it!
i need simple steps how i can run kernes, i got this infos for my phone
LT22I
ANDROID:4.2.1
KERNEL;3.0.8
6.2.A.0.400
any simple steps to root that phone pleasE?
easy and fast...
thanks for reading

For what I know you must unlock bootloader to root 6.2.A.0.400, but if you want to use custom kernels you have to do it anyway.
Be sure to backup DRM keys before you do.
For FW 6.2.A1.100 there are easy ways to root withoyt unlocking BL.
From all my experiments with custom kernels I can't say I have seen benefit using them aside from the fact they are easy to install and save the trouble of rooting and installing CWM recovery.
There are problems with 6.2.A.0.400 phone/dialer, so it would be better if you upgrade to 6.2.A.1.100 if you can.

exactly, you made it sound so simple
after unlocking the bootloader, flashing a prerooted system.img will also work if you don't want a custom kernel.
Finding this should not be that hard: [Xperia S][INFO][REF] All that u need to know before u begin
Oh.. and unlocking the bootloader will also have some disadvantages like warranty and DRM related things.
Still not easy
can you link it step by step plz...
what i have to do first
(little noob)
I have not rooted my phone (yet..) i don't want to unlock bootloader.
I think its best if you start reading from the beginning of the previous link, or if you want to get started right away then:
see this tutorial for Unlocking Bootloader:
[Tutorial] Xperia S Bootloader Unlocking & Relocking
and this for rooting:

Thx man i will try it...
to root i will have to unlock bootloader??
is that really needed?
Arter bootloader i need to unlock also??
Currently it is the only way to root, later on another way will probably come along, but for now you must unlock your bootloader to root your device.
There isn't really much of downside besides losing some functionality in some apps due to the loss of your DRM key. It does not 100% void your warranty, but if you plan on overclocking and it goes wrong, your warranty will probably be voided.

[U] Root/Unlock Xperia U Qs

Hi!
I have an Xperia U ICS flashed using flashtool. Unrooted and Locked. I do want to root/unlock, I just had a few questions first.
- Can I root my phone WITHOUT unlocking the bootloader?.. as I heard that unlocking ones bootloader is risky and can damage the phone.
I really have no idea as to how to root a phone as I'm totally new to droid ( 1st android phone ) ! So it would be really helpful if someone at least posted a link(s) for a tutorial. (The right tutorial for a newbie! ) If possible, I want to root my phone WITHOUT unlocking the bootloader.
- What is the difference between Root with Locked bootloader & Root with Unlocked bootloader?
And regarding ROMs, I also heard that custom ROMs are really much better than the stock ones, So If anyone could help me choosing the best ROM for my Xperia U would be helpful too. Also a tutorial link as to how to install a custom ROM. User reviews would be real helpful here, People who have custom Xperia U ROMs, HELP!
Help out guys
P.S I know there are tutorials out there, I just don't know which one to follow.
Just follow the instructions here to root your phone :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460
And then install cmw for your phone to install custom ROM'S
If the info helped you click the thanks button..

Bootloader unlocked means u can try different roms now bt u loose ur warranty and u also need to flash a custom kernel for custom rom
Rooting I guess has nothing to do wid bootloader being locked or unlocked

Yes you can root your phone without locking the bootloader, when you unlock the bootloader you void your warranty. A locked bootloader doesnt void your warranty, but doesnt allow you to be able to flash all custom roms, some need an unlocked bootloader to work. Cannot help you with guides because i use the Xperia P, good luck though.

And are there any ROMs I can apply to a locked bootloader? Help Xperia U users please!
root without unlock bootloader it still save to be use and doesn't void your warranty
you still can try some custom ROM but definitely never to custom kernel

Root Sola

I have a Xperia Sola, and I want to root it. However, I'm kinda scared to do it, since it's new and I don't want to ruin it.
I've checked out this site: unlockroot.com. Is this 100% safe?
Also, my kernel is 6.1.1.b.1.54, and I would have to downgrade to .10 to root. Will the program do that, or it will not work at all?

use this link to root your .54 firmware...........
there is no problem in rooting until you know what applications are gaining your root access and do you trust those apps.............
Rooting helps you to gain administrators rights as in windows......... so its comes in handy to bee rooted (IMO)...........
Thanks for the answer.
Is it that easy to do? Can it ruin the phone?

Thread has been reported and will b shifted by respected moderator
Moved to Q&A
you can root the .54 version via fastboot with theBrains Kernel or something... or you also can root the .54 version with this method which is flash .10 KERNEL, root it using binary method and flash .54 KERNEL.... that shall root the .54 version..... also, make sure you have the .54 version before you root using the .10 Kernel and the .54 KERNEL!!!!!
Is it safe? Could I brick my phone while flashing the kernel?

No..... until you use the kernel meant for your fone.......
As long as you root your phone using the LockerBootloader version, you would be able to unroot your phone anytime.
It's safe, as long as you use it carefully [For example, if you want to install something through CWM, backing up is a must in case something doesn't go well.]

If you are not comfortable with the previous methods, you can try rooting through the flashtool.
And the kernel 6.1.1.B.1.10 Global works on every Xperia Sola?

If you follow that thread i think you can be on .62 gb rooted, otherwise search for another
After rooting bootloader is NOT unlocked. Unlocking it allows you to install custom kernels in order to improve performance or get more ROMS like cyanogenmod jelly bean. It's a whole different story unlocking it
A kernel tells the device what to do, basically. ROMs are modified system files by users to mod their device. This is really base explained
Jelly bean is still experimental so all roms will have bugs. You need to unlock your bootloader for it
Well, the best would be back up with cwm but you cant, so if you wanna save all your data, search for some backup app

Firstly you don't need bootloader unlocked for custom roms(just root is needed) but u need it unlocked for installing custom roms.....and please don't ask about best/fast/good Rom since these type of thread are discouraged and u won't get your answer instead a hell lot of people mocking you for this....please be careful next time

You don't need to downgrade to root if you want to unlock the bootloader. Just unlock it and flash a prerooted kernel like rage kernel and you will be rooted and cwm or TWRP recovery are built in
Try some and you will find your personal best rom :good:

New to android,need some knowledge.

I'm new to android, earlier I had Nokia 5233.Everyone's talkin about custom Rom,kernel, flashing Roms, bootloader etc..I want to know that.
But I know that for accessing system files we should have root access,so I managed some how and succeeded in,rooting my phone(Xperia go Stock ICS 4.0.4) installed CWM also. Now I want to know what is bootloader, and how do we unlock it,and is there any threat in doing so?
What about installing Custom Roms? Do they require unlocking bootloader or we can install them without unlocking bootloader.
Pls tell me about this.
Many new android users want to know this.
Replying to this thread will help others too.
Read, read and read. And most of all use search... you will find everything.
May b u should wait till u get official ics..... Unlocking ur bootloader wont let u use pc companion....
Unless u knw how to flash a ftf
