Hi all my name is Gaurav and i'm from India.First of all i want to thank all you guys at xda of the support and help you are providing to people(noobs)like me and making our experience of using the smartphones much more smarter and enjoyable.
I own a SAMSUNG GALAXY S3 GT I9300 with following details
1) ANDROID VERSION-4.1.2
2) BASEBAND VERSION-I9300DDEMG2
3) KERNEL VERSION-3.0.31-1292854 [email protected]*1
4) BUILD NUMBER-JZ054K.I9300XXEMG5
I've recently roote my phone via odin and have the latest CWM recovery installed
My questions are:-
1) while downloading roms should i go for roms which are based on my android version ie 4.1.2 or can i flash any roms based on any android version?
2) Which GAPPS are available for SGS3GT I9300? should i go for GAPPS for my android version 4.1.2 or any GAPPS?
3) I today tried to flash AVATAR rom "avatar-nightly_3.1-636-20130823-NIGHTLY-i9300" and gapps-jb-20121011-signed and followed the entire procedure of wiping dalvik cache and all but on rebooting got a message that AVATAR ROM HAS DETECTED A CRASH and SET WIZARD HAS FAILED.Please tell me what did i do wrong?
Thanks to so many tutorials by xda members i had already backed up my previous rom so i'm safe but i want to flash a new rom, kindly help
Anticipating a quick response..........zillion thanks in advance
Hi,
Try again wipe data... reset. Otherwise re-download ur avatar rom flash with cwm
Sent from my Lenovo P770 using xda app-developers app
We already answered in the other 2 threads. Just read general > sticky roll-up thread. Look for "understanding the basics before rooting"
Do you even know what gapps are? Please READ the thread and please stop reposting the same thread over and over

Ask in the roms thread but usual is user not following the instructions .
Which GAPPS are available for SGS3GT I9300? should i go for GAPPS for my android version
GApps are for specific roms not something you flash unless instructed to .
Again you are sadly lacking in basic understanding . To avoid bricking your phone read and understand the faqs and guides first .

First things first, root your phone, install custom recovery and BACKUP!
Only then should you dabble with other things.
No, you don't need to install anything before installing the 4.1.2 ROMs, but a wipe is recommended.
Happy flashing!

Regarding rXtreme Stock Rom, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2023916
after installing it, everything works fine other than the language. Korean words are blanked out automatically. Any help here?
Stock rom then you want to go to sammobile.con and download for your country .

You don't get my question. I want to continue using rXtreme Rom without wiping my data. I'm asking if there is a fix for the language.
Sorry post said Help Stock Rom .
Suggest ask the rom chef or read faqs and guides .
Either you are posting in the wrong forum or you are flashing the wrong rom .
This is I9300Q&A the link you posts is for a different phone I9305 .
Hi all, sorry for the noob question but i've searched lots of threads ( probably without the correct keywords) for the answer but to no avail.
So, I have CWM recovery installed and have installed a few roms without problems over the past few months. Today, I decided to try another rom but I've got problems. I installed Android revolution HD ROM and it seemed to install just fine but on reboot, it stayed on the Samsung logo screen for over an hour. No problem, I thought, I'll do a restore as I'd backed up my current rom but i can't boot into recovery, it just stays on the Samsung boot screen with the little red light on in the corner. I've tried pulling the battery but I don't know what to do now...can anyone help?
Follow the guide in general forum, stickies, on how to use odin and flash a stock rom for your country.

Just a notice: don't use the OXA (Open Europe) firmware, there's really no support for it on Samsungs side, and no OTA to 4.3 till now.

You didn't say which stock rom you wanted but this is my own backup of the latest generic 4.3 rom for UK and Europe I9300XXUGMK6_I9300OXAGMK6_BTU extract the MD5 file and flash via Odin if you want it.
Don't forget after flashing to boot into recover and wipe cache, dalvik cache and factory reset to clean the custom rom stuff from your phone

Ok guys here's the deal, last year I rooted my friend's s3 (international, india, i9300) because there was no available update to android, so I flashed purelook HD 8.0 (android version 4.1.2), now he is saying that his phone has become very slow so he wants to go back to stock
so I downloaded "INU-I9300XWUGML4-20140107141249.zip" but after downloading this I saw that it is for android 4.3 (new official update).
So my question is should I directly flash this in ODIN (android 4.3) or I should download older official update before flashing new update?
If it's a full, multi part stock rom then it wouldn't be a zip. Odin can't flash zips.
Suggest you read the basics in general forum, sticky threads, before you do anything else.

yeah I know odin doesn't flash zip's, I quoted the file name just for reference as there were two firmwares updates available for india, one INS another INU on doing some searches I came to know that they are locked and unlocked updates, kinda same, you can download any one.
is there any number I should match before downloading...we do not have contract phones in india, just retail so I was confused therefore I downloaded the unlocked one
back to the point, I know that I have to extract it first, there is a file inside it, named "I9300XWUGML4_I9300ODDGML4_I9300DDUGMK1_HOME.tar.md5"
so maybe now you can help me out, whether should I flash it or download an earlier version and flash it prior to flashing this one...
So my question is should I directly flash this in ODIN (android 4.3) or I should download older official update before flashing new update?
Its your choice but as said read and understand the basics first .

Well I know how to flash roms/firmwares via ODIN, I know I have to check my counter too if it is not zero than I will have to reset it
so is there anything else?
I'm just asking this because I don't know much about s3 but I had note and I remember it had some issues regarding upgrading to a ice-cream sandwich version, something related to 'safe kernel' many other things...
and even I tried searching for basics, I didn't find anything else other than this and if there is something I am still missing then please kindly link me to it or just answer the question, IS IT SAFE or not?

first of all - reset the counter, app triangle away
then - install stock recovery, already downloaded
finally - flash stock rom, already downloaded
I know about the modem, efs back up and everything, all I am asking is, is it safe to directly upgrade from a third party 4.1.2 rom to stock 4.3 rom, I hope you understand my question this time...
