Hello, i have a Korean galaxy note, it is on the latest firmware 4.1.2
I cannot seem to get root, i have tried the motochopper method.
I was wondering if i could use this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1899200&page=2
to downgrade to 4.0.4 to get root or is there any way i can do it
I have looked at tegrak but i cannot find my build which is JZO54K.E160LKLJMC1
If someone can help me with this it would be great, i am also sorry if this is in the wrong section
Thanks
I have found something ending in MC1 on the tegrak website, but i do not know if i should use it as it does not have J it only says MC1
Pretty much any Samsung is gonna be handled the same way, you're over complicating it.
Use Odin to flash custom recovery FOR THAT DEVICE... Use recovery to gain root. Latest twrp asked if you would like to root out you aren't before booting back into the os.
If that isn't an option an su.zip will be available to flash within recovery.

Hello, I am a complete noob with android software and these forum websites.
I bought a the standard Galaxy S2 GT-I9100 a few months ago, rooted it but since then I still have no root access. This is the first time I've signed up for any website to ask for help, because I cant find any solution to fixing it.
I followed a simple guide, which instructed to use odin, and the Siyah kernal. It said the root was successful and superuser + CWM was installed.
On the Superuser Binary Updater, its says the latest version is 3.1.1 but I only have 3.0.3.2. When I try update, it says "Gaining root access... fail!"
The 'Root Checker Basic' app tells me "This device does not have proper root access"
I was suggested to use OneClickRoot. I try it, and it tells me my device is already rooted.
I am using:
Android version 4.1.2
Baseband version I9100XXLS8
Kernal version 3.0.31 siyah-s2-v6.0b5
Please help me gain root access without wiping the data off my phone. I dont want to modify the way the system looks or works, all I want is root access. Sorry if this posted in the wrong place, this site is confusing for me
Flash Siyah again (through CWRecovery if the flash was successful enough to install it, if not through Odin again).

I've tried doing it again through Odin and still no change. Is it possible that I'm doing it wrong? After many searches I see there's multiple ways of rooting the device..
Can you please link me to correct instructions for using Odin? Just to be sure I'm doing it right
Siyah tar file in PDA section of Odin, click start. I don't know why people think this sort of thing is complicated when it's really very simple.
So I Tried to root my newly acquired I717, using this method
"How To: Root AT&T Galaxy Note i717 Jelly Bean 4.1.2 " on You Tube by mooneyb123
I tried on my macbook but I wouldn't recognize the note in Jodin. So I used my Fiances pc.
I had to install keis as the video did not mention that., But it did instal TWRP, which is awesome, But when I tried to instal the CWM-SuperuserSU-v0.94 file nothing happens, it appears to work fine and says successful but when I reboot and check for Root its not rooted.
I've tried this 4 times now.
I don't know what to do next
I want to root to get rid of the ATT bloatware, and possibly overclock. I might try a stable rom like padawan later but I mainly just want to root. Is their any way to do it with TWRP? or am I going to have to go another route?
Also can I odin CWM on or do I need to wipe the device to factory first. The main thing is I don't want to brick it as I am using the phone daily.
I tried what I thought would be the "easiest" looking way to root, but since it didn't work, I need some advice.
How do i get it back to stock recovery If its not rootable? I am running 4.1.2.
I did upgrade soon after I got the device but am wondering If I could have rooted it easier on the original version of android.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
is their any way I can do it with
I was trying to root my sisters S3 i9300, until the Auto Rooting App i used, didn't work and changed the kernel(without root access available ) and now whenever i try other rooting apps it doesn't work. I think its because of the kernel change it wont let me root. So someone told me to "Get back a stable system by flashing latest firmware by Odin. If it boots normally, use cf-auto-root (by Odin, too). ".
I got ODIN 3.10.6.
Problem:How to flash latest stock S3 i9300 firmware(link would be appreciated) by ODIN?
How to then use CF Auto Root, to root my device?
A video or clearly detailed written tut would be awesome
I know is quite noobish question but YOLO?

All the info you need is in the stickies here, here and here.
I'm glad to help but next time, please use the forum search.
[I just realized I'm in the wrong subforum, please move to Verizon i535 forum, thanks]
My initial intention was to backup the phone before attempting to install Cyanogenmod on it.
I ran towelroot and installed Rom Manager, and flashed the custom recovery.
Upon attempting to enter recovery, it's telling me that some non-Verizon system software is detected so I can't even get in there to backup my phone. I researched and apparently after 4.2 all the bootloaders are locked and cannot be rommed. That sucks, but anyway, this thing is already running 4.4.2 (just got in from Ebay purchase).
How can I get back the stock recovery? I've searched all over the forums but can't quite find what to do. Something with Odin and a stock image? Does that exist for 4.4.2?
TIA
You can get stock recoveries on the net but if you cant flash it you need to go to samsung-updates.com and download the latest rom for that device, flash it with odin then re root it. If there's a cf-autoroot for it you should use that, otherwise any other recommended method.
If your lastest rom on the website is earlier than 4.3 then dont worry about efs etc as custom roms dont change that
If it IS 4.3 or later do not flash anything lower than 4.3. This is because you dont know what the last stock version was.
Going back to stock via odin should solve any issues with all sammy devices. Common sense and reading a lot goes a long way.
Dont forget to reset to factory when flashing back to stock, most common cause of boot loop.
Sent from a stolen phone!
So I have an Australian (Telstra) S6 Edge 925I with stock firmware (OD1) android version 5.0.2 kernel build April 1st.
PingPong root didn't work (and obviously was ruled out also because of kernel build date)
CF Auto-root has just been sending phone into bootloop, have tried a few variants (925i, 925F, 920f, 920t)
Also tried a kernel flash (as if the phone was on 5.1.1) but just got phone stuck on boot screen.
Tried a TWRP flash, got TWRP to work but bootloop also.
-- I do have a stock firmware that I have flashed to get phone back to normal each time it has soft-bricked.
So it seems that rooting is turning out to be pretty impossible but I have seen so much success for others!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
[also this could be the wrong place to post so redirect or whatever if you have to]
THanks!
Try the Android unified toolkit. It will help you root the proper way for your variant.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...lkit-skipsoft-android-toolkit-galaxy-t3101195
Unfortunately, toolkit didn't work for me. When I was going through root process, I flashed TWRP; latest version caused some weird brightness/colour issue so I couldn't use it, flashed the recommended version, and touch screen wouldn't work. Flashed a version in between which worked, but couldn't boot into OS because of bootloop.
So unfortunately I'm still quite stuck. Toolkit seems like a great tool though, if only it would work. I'm certain I'm not doing anything wrong.
So I paid ("donated") for the pro version so I could get it done that way... Yep, device still went into bootloop... Not sure what's going here but now I have also wasted money.
in 5.1.1 you need to have a custom kernel flashed..look into my twrp thread..
CF Auto Root updated and works on my Phone. S6 Edge 925I
Still having trouble installing a recovery though
