New to XDA, require help! :( - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I have a rooted Pantach Burst P9070 and I recently dropped it in water. I got all the water out and it worked fine for a few hours, then I rebooted the phone and it was stuck on the "Rethink Possible" screen. With this I factory reset the phone, erasing everything, but when I signed back into my google account on the phone, it synced with my rooted Samsung Galaxy Tab which I guess was the most recent sync. But because of this, it has the same settings of the tablet, such as the default rotation is in landscape and such. Is there anyway to re-sync my Google account to a previous device, and not the tablet, and have settings from the phone, or is it stuck on there? I'm really bad with technology, so please don't be a douche bag with a response...

I'll try not be a douchebag...
First thing you should consider is to open it up and make sure all components are not only dry but clean of any residue, but that can be skipped if you wish
Do a factory rest, this time when signing in don't tell it to sync, rather manually change your settings, this sort of issue shouldn't have happened and I never heard of this happening but there is always something new,
Best of luck

Phone freeze + auto factory reset

Last Saturday, my 2yr old child was playing with my screen lock lumia. Next thing I see, it display a factory reset. It's ok for me since I sync my data mostly online, not a real damage.
But after the factory reset, the main problem happen. It doesn't fully functioning, icon doesn't display right. Next thing I know, freeze and factory reset again. it happen 3-4 more time but mostly functioning ok after reset.
It seen ok after that. Except when I try installing back the app from marketplace, after about ten app, error msg displayed rejecting the app installation. Phone is giving feedback back can't even go into the dialer. Next few minutes, restart and stuck at nokia logo, on-off and it's back to factory default.
Happen few more time after installing app every time. The last try, use the phone half day, fully function. Error, restart, stuck at nokia, and factory default again after trying to install app.
Now, it's at Nokia Care (authorise service center).
It's horror for me since happily using it for 3 month. Could find anyone posting the same problem, maybe it is a hardware problem. But a bit of concern since it is just a 3 month old phone.

Hmmmm, 2yr old child + 3month old Lumia = Disaster, Maybe your child managed to get the device wet in some way? A lesson learnt the hard way unfortunately, At least its now in good hands and hope it's all sorted when you get it back
Sounds like a hardware problem. Did your child drop the phone, or did he eat some parts? (okay, just kidding on the last one).
Still not ok
Just got it back from Nokia Care yesterday, the problem is still there when installing back my apps. Will sent it back this afternoon.
I can use it as a phone, but a smartphone that cannot install app, useless.
Fyi, no water did got into my lumia & my child never put the phone into her mouth. I have a 3yr old 3gs (pass to my wife after buying lumia) and ipad which my child use more often, no problem at all.
It seems like the problem my HTC WM had but that happen after 2++ yrs of usage.
Getting frustrated because I know it is hard to explain the problem.
Thinking of selling this phone if the problem cannot be solve.
Just send it to Nokia Care.
Manage to get my Lumia to be error-ed, show it to the Nokia Care personnel. When she try to on-off the set, it 'factory reset'.
They said they will change the phone board.
Will update when I collect my Lumia 800.
Now, I'm happy...
I had the exactly same problem with my Lumia 800.
I set a new passcode and forgot the passcode later
After enter several wrong passcodes, it said it will do a factory reset, i clicked Ok.
Then I have the exactly same problem with yours.
So your kid is innocent
I'm going to give up this piece of ****! Too many troubles with phone since I own it.
Nice to hear this is not just my problem.
Although, it really a big problem when this occur.
Really need to be careful when factory resetting the lumia.
Hope you didn't give up the phone, it really is a nice phone.
Nokia should be aware of this problem.
Just sent it for warranty claim as I did.
Though I'm still waiting for them to repair the phone..
if any one want to have a good windowsphone you will buy an htc windows phone like titan , nokia phone not good windowsphone
Pick up my Lumia yesterday, so far running fine.
Manage to install back most of the apps without problem/error.
They change the main board of the phone.
Won't be setting my phone with pass lock after this.

S3 Switches off??!!

I am increasingly wanting to revert back to my S2 after 2 days of owning the S3, and getting nowhere with syncing and settings, wifi/packet data recognition (or lack of), being able to continuously use apps, motion settings not working for me and keyboard fail!!!
I have been trying to backup the S3 for the last couple of hours to Kies and it seems to be taking its time, however it is still switched on which is a good start I think.
Biggest issue is using the keyboard in the txt message app and in forums/social sites. The keyboard is extremely slow and unresponsive (new issue started today) and then when I hit send/post etc.. the phone screen goes blank and the phone becomes unresponsive. I have had to either remove the battery, replace and switch he phone on or long hold the power button - 7-10 seconds. I don't think this is normal. I am yet to root the phone but I'm too scared to in case I brick it. Yesterday it randomly switched off but today it is not only random but when I try to post anything.
Motion settings are enabled (major feature I chose it for) and they're not working either.

don't cry. just return the set. what you are facing is absolutely not a normal situation. You have got a faulty set. just return it instead of rooting or trying roms etc.

Really thinking I might have to, but it was painstaking to sync all data, apps, photos etc from the S2. I was hoping it was an issue with not having day/sleep mode settings? Or some other simple issue that I've over looked

Definitely a faulty device return ASAP

ignoring such simple settings don't result in such a mess. If the set is in warranty then let Samsung take care of it instead of you going through the trouble. If motion sensors are enabled but not working then it may be a hardware issue (faulty gyroscope).

First thing to do: factory reset!
Then do not restore anything from your S2 and see if you still have these issues
-if you still have these issues: faulty device to return
-if your issues are gone: something went wrong when you restore from S2
I would like to add that if you have everything enabled you will get lag and freezes, try disabling some of the features...face awake, some of the motions etc, usually it is just a matter of setting up your phone right, it only has a certain amount of ram and all those fancy novelties use it up
In the middle of a factory reset. Only took 4 hours to back up the device. I'll try to disable some features and post an update with how I go. I really appreciate the advice

I think something went wrong with Kies. I uninstalled then reinstalled the program, rebooted the phone and slowly backed up only photos and contacts and everything is running ok now. Thanks for all the help and advice!

I tried to speak to the 'tech' in the Telstra shop and even while I was there it switched off and they had no clue, only offering advice of removing the battery and restarting the phone :what:
Figured I was best speaking to real experts...

[Q] Sony Tablets are Starting to Fail on me!?!

So this is quite irritating at the moment. Me and my mom both have a Sony Tablet S (SGPT111US/S). Now both mine and my mothers are causing difficulties right now, and both have very different problems. So I'll start off with my moms tablet since it may just need to be waited out for the problem to go away.
Mom's Tablet:
This was just a couple days ago, My mom says her tablet froze at 10:03 (like it really matters what the time it froze at is) on the cradle. She had to press the reset button to turn it off, however the unit will not Turn on or even go to the Android Recovery Menu to preform a factory reset. As of right now it is connected by the plug rather than being on the cradle. I'm hoping that this issue can fix itself since others have had this experience before and got theirs working just by letting it sit a couple days on the charger, however if you have any ideas on getting it working sooner that would greatly be appreciated.
My Tablet:
I honestly don't know what has happened. Until a couple days ago I turned on my tablet and after it boot up problems emerged out of random the second the lock screen appears every single app crashes, not once but continuously. Even the home screen will crash and continuously reload itself, so getting to any app won't be possible and even at that when i do get to an app it's already crashed and i'm back at the home screen. To help make matters worse, the tablet won't remove Apps permanently, i can uninstall them (oddly enough while every app crashes without them even starting the settings doesn't crash.) however if i reboot the tablet everything returns like nothing ever left. I have even went to the Android Recovery Menu to try to factory reset the device, but the factory resets doesn't even reset even though the ARM says it did. So i'm stuck with this crashing loop and a Non-Factory Resetable tablet. I have tried to see if maybe rooting the tablet could help, but not even the Tablet will load itself completely when connected to my Computer so rooting is out of the question as well. Also the Bluetooth and Wifi won't turn off as well.
In the end,
Both Tablets have the current update (4.0.3 RA5) and both are Not Rooted. They are out of warranty so last thing i want to do is call Sony to repair my tablets for a fee. I would also like to note my tablet has been sent in once for repairs because it was stuck looping the boot screen, so my tablet has had trouble in the past, but since then until now i have never had any problems. I will admit, i do sometimes install cracked apps, the app i installed just a day before all this happened was Minecraft 0.7.2.......I have installed it on my EVO and Walkman Z and no problems have occurred and they still have the game.
Please any help for these tablets will be Greatly appreciated. Please Will you help Me?

How's your mum's tablet doing right now? If the issue still persists after what you've tried, I'm thinking maybe just let it run out of battery, charge it back up and see what happens. Also, have you tried using the pccompanion software to redownload and reinstall a fresh firmware back onto your tab? It's a more 'thorough' reset method as opposed to a factory reset through the tab settings.

Galaxy Tab A Rebooting

A few days ago we purchased a couple of Samsung GalaxyTab A 9.7. For some reason that I haven't been able to work out two of them will reboot every now and then, there is no pattern to it, it could take a day or two and then it will reboot while reading a book. Or another example I decided to do a factory reset of the tablet to see if it was the kindle app or the SD card I put in it, so with nothing in it after doing a factory reset and while updating the preinstalled Galaxy Apps it once again restarted. Just wondering if this is an issue with the tablet or just the buggy android 5.0.2 it is running.
I've had one for a couple weeks now with the same restarting issue. I've hard reset and cleared cache at the recovery menu with no luck. Hoping it's a 5.0.2 bug, because I bought for use while instructing.
We have three, one of them isn't doing it. We took one into the shop, did a factory reset so they could send it back to samsung. The stupid assistant manager had a look at it and said oh the sleep is set to 3 seconds, he set it to 30 minutes then said it was fixed, he couldn't comprehend it was set at that because it had been factory reset to send up to samsung. Then we came home, let it rip to Samsung and they wanted both sent back. According to the samsung rep they haven't heard of this happening with this tablet.
Thought I would update this thread. The shop rang today and decided that they wouldn't wait on Samsung so replaced both tablets that were having this problem. Got home, charged the first replacement tablet, then set it up, as soon as it gets past the set up it reboots. then basically within a period of 10 minutes it reboots 5 times. Second replacement tablet so far seems alright. Samsung want the replacement tablet sent to them, so my advice dgr00s is get in touch with them and get a replacement.
So, i've been troubleshooting and whatnot. I used Samsung SmartSwitch and initialized the tablet. I used it all day at work without issue, today. Could be coincidence, but I will let you know if the reboots return.
Sorry for your bad luck. You could try the initialize with SmartSwitch to see if it resolves your issue.
according to samsung it was a fault with the tablets. all faulty tablets were returned and replaced all is good now, samsung have three faulty tablets to mess around with

Recovering Photos From Samsung Note 5 of passed friend

Hey everyone,
Coming here in hopes that the rooting community can offer some help and assistance. I had a close friend pass away last week and was provided his old Note 5 to see if any pictures could be recovered from the phone. This is his old phone from roughly 2 year ago. When I was given the phone the screen would not turn on and I think the phone was stuck in a boot loop as it would vibrate roughly every 10 seconds. I swapped the screen on the phone and was able to get it to boot. The phone now boots up but goes to the Google FRP saying the phone was reset and to access the phone we gotta used the previously synced account. Unfortunately we are not able to get into his Google account. We are unsure if the phone reset itself or if it was reset previously.
Its my understanding that when a phone resets it does not erase all the data but marks it for overwrite? Was wondering if anyone had any advice on how I should proceed and what would be my best bet to see if we can recover any photos that may still be on the phone.
Thank you,
Bump.
