Sorry for improper posting..but there's no particular forum for HTC Desire U
As there's no forum,there are no methods to root it..and overclock it
I request the developers to come up with a method for rooting HTC Desire U..since both are similar type of devices..
I hope I get a reply soon..

The Desire X and U are not very similar, the only way I could find was this: http://androidrootboot.wordpress.com/2013/06/03/root-any-htc-android-phone-or-tablet/

Have you tired the standard unlock bootloader at htcdev and then flash SuperSu
Or the program at unlockroot.com

You won't be able to flash SuperSU manually since there doesn't seem to be any custom recovery for your device.
You have to start with unlocking bootloader at http://www.htcdev.com/bootloader
Next try using:
HTC Quick Root (use the Universal Exploit)
SuperOneClick
UnlockRoot
No guarantee of any of these working but it's worth a try. Make sure USB Debugging is enabled and you have the HTC drivers installed.

Nope, almost every android device needs to be unlocked before rooting or installing rom, and the process isn't that complicated

I've just unlocked my BootLoader from HTCDev...but what next?
The thing is still S-ON...what do I do now to root it? Could you please help me out?
There is no S-OFF for your phone but you can still root with S-ON.

I've tried the above methods like Universal Root...but the recent software update might have patched the method as a result it is showing me that the method has failed due to the firmware update!
and other methods are with S-Off...now I'm struck in between those...what to do now?
You don't need S-OFF with SuperOneClick (not sure about UnlockRoot)
You can also try SRS Root
As I said, there is no guarantee of success.

Hi Guys,
I just got my EVO 3d Today. Am really excited needless to say.
Ive managed to unlock the boot loader using the official HTC Bootloader unlock tool(Since my software version was 1.20). Now it says unlocked but still has "S ON". Been going crazy for hours now trying to root it. Even tried going into recovery but just get an error symbol.
Would appericiate if anyone can tell me how to go about it or point me in the right direction.

easiest way to fix it is to download the stock root 2.3.3 in the devolpement thread and it will give u root after u flash it mape sure u data/wipe and dalvik wipe its in advanced if u need anymore help just pm me
edit: if it still says s-on the go to development thread got to rom guides and use the revolutionary tool to get s-off and root its really easy to do

Thanks for the input. The problem is that i can't go into recovery. Every time i try i get a Red Triangle with an !.
I have ONLY used the HTC Dev unlock method and nothing else. Do i need to do/install something more in order to go into recovery?
Just use the revolutionary tool to get s-off and root it would be your best bet now i was helping a friend do it the other day and he. Messed but i have a fix if after u do it u get s-off but not root if u need me to help u will going through doing I can but u will have to wait a few hour I am about to go to. Yes i am on 2.3.4 and my evo3d is a gsm phone.
Totally lost here.
Umm... you need to flash a recovery through fast boot...the red triangle means you don't have one... also if you are unlocked push su through adb and you should have root. I never used HTC official unlock but have rooted several phones... after you unlock the bootloader you push su and flash a recovery

from my understanding, once you use the htc unlock method you can't get s-off for now, until theres an exploit found. I followed a vid on htcevohacks.com and got mine rooted using 2.3.4 but I stil have s-on... not sure if it even matters because i can still go into recovery and flash roms.

Unfortunately its for software number 2.08.651.2 and above. Im on 1.20.401.2. Even when i click on check for updates it says device is up to date.
So basically this method can't work for me .
Guys issue resolved. Even though my device was initially unlocked using HTC Official unlock method i just ran revolution, followed the steps and now I'm unlocked AND rooted by revolution. Just wanted to share that.

So, be patient until we get SV recovery images.

Come on, there is no Desire SV forum yet, plus, he needs a working clockworkmod recovery for his device first.
There is a tutorial on making a clockworkmod recovery on this forum (link : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1952935) OR go to
http://builder.clockworkmod.com/ and try to build one that way. The recovery image you need to use the site, you'll have to get from a ruu for your device (search for poster "football" in all forums and see if you can find the one you need)

i say better wait for the desire sv [dsv] forum to build up first. anyone who attempts to root or do whatever to their dsv should know the consequences of not having the resources to go back to stock or recover their dsv from problems that maybe faced.
a forum in general combines ideas, discussion from all over, which minimizes the ultimate chance of bricking your device way before you have even enjoyed it.

That was for Desire V, ProtoDug. not Desire SV.
(HTC has a very bad Naming Scheme, desire s,z,x,sv,l,p,q,hd,hd2,c)

I recently purchased HTC Amaze X715e and rooted my phone and unlocked the bootloader using 'ALL IN ONE V5.1'
after that I tried installing different custom roms but I see nothing is working for me. I don't know what is wrong with it.
anyhow I have restored my data back what I had.
Also, when I tried accessing google play I cannot find any apps tried search. except 4 app which are only available to download.
what would be the solution for this problem ??

I am from Bangalore, India. I don't have any carrier support. but this phone I bought from ebay india.

Yeah, The most important thing. After installing the custom rom for example nightmare ROM. It use to struck in the HTC Logo nothing went further.

my problem is i try to update the mobile 2.3.4 to 4.1.first i do bootloader unlock then i install recovery flash then i do super user zip then i install the 4.1 jib via sd card.after update finished only mobile shows htc .in this situation can i do wire method s off and super cid with the stuck logo .if yes please provide solution step by step please .
now the mobile cid is 044.can i downgrade to 2.3.4???if yes please reveal step by step procedure for me

To s off you have to be on stock rom or else you mite face weird problems just unlock your bootloader then flash a recovery and flash a stock gb rom and perform the s off then you'll be good to go

OK what you need to do is obtain S-Off from here
Then when you obtain S-Off SuperCID your device from here
Those 2 links provide you with step by step instructions on how to accomplish both. If you cannot follow those directions I CANNOT HELP YOU!!!!

I'm guessing your able to boot into bootloader. If you are then S-Off and SuperCID your device. Once you do you will be able to flash your ruu or rom of choice.

Flash a custom recovery.
Flash your custom Rom.
Follow instructions and TAKE BACKUP BEFORE DOING ANYTHING AT ALL .....

I sent a message to kmdm from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=42322906 and ask him if i can use the "revone" to my DX but not responced.
Any news about Revone S-OFF by team Revolutionary? It seems it's working on a lot of HTC devices. :fingers-crossed:

I could go there in IRC, but I can't test it on my phone with the risk of bricking it, so someone else is needed for testing...

I don't use my desire x and don't really care about it. Should I test revone s-off? Only if you guys really really need s-off. Dont just say you want it because some say so. I'm still risking a phone here.
If its a yes, please give me a link to the necessary files. As I have super slow internet atm. And I cannot load up several pages to find it. Used up all my data usage again >.>.

Hello again, can anybody help me how to permanently unroot HTC Desire X? I tried "HTC Quick Root" but it did not work and manually delete Superuser.apk, busybox and root folder but this second method worked just temporarily. Can anybody tell me how to do that??
I am running Skydragon v1.0 on hboot 1.25
You can't..... As when you unlocked your bootloader on bootloader out says unlocked and when you relock it. it will say relock instead lock
If you want to get update just flash stock ROM, stock Boot.img , and stock recovery..... Then your phone would be on stock and unrooted

I tried both RUU already but no success... Can it be because I have JB hboot???????????????? Please help how to permanently unroot my phone... I tried everything in usual way...
