Every time I plug my XU into my computer, I get a prompt asking me if I want to install software on the PC, presumably PC Companion. I have already installed it directly from the web. Can anyone suggest how I can prevent this annoying prompt? (I don't know if it is relevant, but I have USB Debugging enabled.)
Thanks
Go to settings in mobile and then Xperia connectivity then usb connectivity now you uncheck the option install software.

Hi to everyone, I have a question that I recently did to myself by necessity:
I have GinTonic 2.4.6 and zombiepanic 1.6.3
When I connect my phone to the computer to transfer files, the Pc companion window appears saying that there's a sony ericsson phone detected. That's ok, but the steps I have to follow are:
Pull down the notification bar-> select usb mode-> select file transfer mode
But as I have a Custom Rom, this steps are not aplicable.
What should I do to solve this problem?
I wait for your reply
Its kinda obvious, pull down the bar and tap the relavant entry. Unles im mistaken there's a notification saying "Usb Connected".
Thankyou but...
Hi, thankyou for your reply, but I think I'm not explaing well;
My problem is that PC companion detects that there's an android phone connected to the pc, and it tells me (Pc companion) to pull down the notification bar to connect to pc companion. BUT as I have a Custom Rom, this option doesn't appears in my phone so, I can't connect to pc companion.
The only option that appears when I connect my phone to the PC is "File transfer" but directly with the pc, not with Pc companion. I want to use PC companion to sync my contacts and other stuff that I can't do with the file transfer only.
Thank you again
I have issues when using DOOM to root my phone.
First off, to correctly connect the phone to the computer you have to go to "WIRELESS >>> USB >>> CONNECT TO PC. Now, if you have already checked the box to enable USB DEBUGGING another box comes up and says that you have to DISABLE usb debugging in order to use the "connect to PC" function. how the hell do you get around that? even when you connect to PC you get MTP initilization in the notification bar. When you pull down and click on it, it simply shuts the bar....... you cannot select anything.
Any ideas anybody?
There is a separate forum for the ATT Note..

Go there for the 717 Root Method
Hi Folks, I rooted my GN a few days ago with no problem. Now that I want to flash a Recovery to Install a ROM the computer don't recognize the phone. I have tried a few methods that I saw online with no results.
Looking for some help! Thanks in advance!
On a Windows machine go to Start/Control Panel/Windows Update. With the phone plugged directly to the PC, not a hub and click "check for updates". You might have to do this a few times and reboot, I did.
Odds are you tried this, but just in case....
USB Driver Not Being Recognized For SYNC
Following are my observations and possible steps to
5. solution lies in the phone
a. key in the dialer *#7284#
b. it has 4 option there..
UART (MODEM/PDA)
USB (MODEM/PDA)
c. For USB. select the PDA. If it already selected to PDA, reselect it by select MODEM and then PDA again.. Only change the USB setting.. and then press back. try reconnect.
6. The Laptop will start recognizing the required drivers and install them
also Phone is not recognized by laptop when it is in USB debug mode, MyPhoneExplorer does not recognize when it is not in Debug mode

I rooted the stock GB yesterday then flashed DAGr8's ICS rom with a ton of mods afterwards and mine is functioning fine.
I did notice a Samsung driver available as an optional install in Windows Updates. Is that the one you tried to install?

I would recommend manually installing the Sony Pc Companion from here http://www.sonymobile.com/us/tools/pc-companion/ making sure to install the drivers it provides for your device. Make sure your phone is plugged into your computer, also make sure USB mass storage is disabled, and that under the settings application then the developer options section that USB debugging is enabled.

Do you have PC Companion or are you going to flash with flashtool?
PC Companion should have installed flashmode.
Flashtool have drivers in it's directory, install all 3, Xperi P, fastboot, and flash mode drivers.
first of all cheak the usb cable you are using

It should work with all kind of USB cable which is compatible with your USB port.
But you need to install adb interface Drivers if you are using windows/Linux or BSD / Macintosh to access to your files with PC or Mac book/iMac .
Or just simply you can use Sony companion suite which is available for almost all operating systems and it'll install needed drivers.
If you mean you can't use flashmod or fastboot mode you need to use flashtool drivers pack which is available in programs directory in a folder called "drivers" based on your operating system.
For example its x:\flashtool\drivers in windows os.
And "x" will be your windows drive.
You can also connect your phone to your computer and use one of hundreds missing driver founder programs in order to find compatible adb driver
