I'm curious if I should flash a 2.04, 2.06 or ENG HBoot, I don't really know the difference.
Don't flash any of them. Considering you needed to ask this question I would suggest leaving it alone.
Thanks for the **** answer, that makes 3 straight topics asking for help where I get none. Forget asking for help from this place.

Can you post what you need or want to accomplish by flashing these hboot images? Asking whether you should flash them is too broad.I'd say flash 2.06 if you need to unlock. However if you are asking for stability, a lot of builds seem to still use 2.04.

Honestly it wasn't a **** answer. You don't need to flash a hboot. And if your asking about them and don't know what they do or what they are you definitely don't need to as it can mess your device up.

Hi,
Pretty sure hboot versions for the DNA are in the 1.3x.xxxx range and not the 2.0.x range. You should probably check your sources.

He's referring to the firmware update numbers and the hboot used there, not the hboot version number.

Ok I know its a slightly stupid question for some but reading through the threads I dont seem to see a definite answer.
Can someone tell me what we can do with unlocked and s-off that we can not do with unlocked and s-on?
Thanks.

pretty much the only thing you CAN'T do is flash radio firmwares.
No radios and it takes a few more steps to flash things like a kernel

I have tried various ways to get my supercid to work and it doesnt. I give up. I just give up.
I put the PG58IMG on the root of the sd card and the bootloader tells me there is no image found.... WTF!
I am about to throw this phone against the wall.... (no I will not give it away, I will kill it) if someone doesn't explain to me why this is happening!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have obtained S-Off earlier this morning.... that was the easiest part of my day....... Tell me how putting supercid on my phone is the hardest part of my day???
When I type in "fastboot getvar cid" it shows me my default cid....
I am going to kill this thing soon....
Why do you need superCID anyway? You're already on TMobile =)

Also, you are on a version of bootloader that falsely reports the cid as 0202 no matter what it actually is. More than likely you are supercid already.

I really don't want Tmobile knowing that I hacked my phone.... its none of their or HTC's business..... I just need their service ..... to make calls and texts..... I don't want them adding account notes saying "Oh she hacked her phone" .... so if I ever need advice.... they are going to treat me like a dumb piece of sh!t because I altered my phone..... or say "we cant help you because u altered your phone" ......
Ok since I seem to be missing something.... I would need you guys to explain to me (please) what exactly I need.... What do I need to do to make my SCID to work.... I want to be able to write 11111111 so I could flash whatever I want........ I am kinda lost.... and I do not like feeling like a noob....
I am currently running:
S-OFF, Energy Rom (GB), HBoot 1.90.2005.
History:
I had the ICS leak, but took it off. (Does that affect my HBoot?)
Apps at my disposal:
Root Explorer, Rom Manager, 4EXT Recovery, and Titanium Backup.
Well SCID won't let you flash ANYTHING it will only let you flash other Carriers RUUs that also carry the Amaze/Ruby. It won't let you flash a GS2 Rom on your Amaze if that's what you're thinking. Being a Tmobile Customer, we are the only carriers with the ICS for the Amaze so its pointless for now. And Android RevolutionHD does not require SCID for Tmobile users because its based off the Tmobile RUU.
Once other carriers, that also carry the Amaze/Ruby, have an awesome Rom then SCID maybe needed.

his base is Android 4.0.3 (Ice Cream Sandwich) - latest official HTC RUU 2.14.531.1 which is tmobile...i admittedly havent read thru his entire thread, but im not sure why you would need scid when his base is tmobile and youre on tmobile his prerequisite is likely said in general, but directed towards telus, wind users since there seem to be alot of people here on those networks (they in fact would need scid to flash this rom, since their cid is different)

In order to have a successful rooting / flashing experience.... you must read.... A LOT.... I hate reading.... But ever since I joined XDA I have done way too much reading... I paid 700 dollars for my phone.... There's no way I'd be stupid enough to not read and brick the hell out of my phone.... My PS3 was only 300 ..... my laptop was only 350.... and my monitor was about 360 and my ipod was about 250.... its the most expensive piece of equipment I own.....
I take care of all of my devices..... I cannot afford to brick my phone.... because once I do.... I'd have to go back to my stupid LG G2x.... and I can't have that!!!!!!!!!!
Plus I learn when I read....
It also says that I need to do a Super Wipe...... so now I gotta read a hell lot of threads and figure out what super wipe does.... and how to put it on my phone....

I see that you got your Queston answered in the supercid thread but this is also for those who posted in this thread.
Your problem is that you have ENG HBoot. You need JB Hboot (or is it JD?), which you can grab in the supercid thread. after you flash the hboot you can supercid. You can reflash ENG Hboot when finish.
I've experienced the same problem as you and this was my fix.

If you had the ICS leak already, might as well flash the latest leak (reported better connectivity than the first leak) and try to superCID with the SHP 1.93.0002 hboot. After you do superCID then go back to GB. It's an extra step but something you've already done before.
Regarding Super Wipe, you should be able to download the file from mike1986's tread under Downloads. All it does is wipe and formats data, system and cache in one swoop instead of you manually doing it yourself.
Hey,
My phone says S-Off but above that it says LOCKED. Does that mean I am out of luck because the bootloader is locked? Is this any type of advantage over an S-On phone considering HTC shut us out?
Thanks

Yeah, I got the phone from a local Verizon employee the day it came out. It came in a white box. Pretty cool that it is S-Off. The plastic faceplate has a crack through it though, I think the quality control might have been skipped on these employee versions. I never dropped it, the crack just appeared.
Anyway back to Roms. I hope it is true that I can just flash a rooted rom. Anybody know for sure?
Is there a way to pull a copy something off of the phone to help with the ongoing s-off efforts?

what is your hboot?
is it an ENG hboot or is it the stock hboot_1.02.0000?
if ENG you could pull that it could be of use if/when s-off comes for this phone.
BUT it's really not a big deal as I already have a friend who does have the ENG hboot for this phone so he will be giving me it, just wondering if you have it as well, and if they would be the same.

It might block you from using fastboot commands without a patched hboot. However, I would sacrifice those to keep ***LOCKED*** status.
VERY long story how I got here, won't get into it. I'm now on hboot 1.12 and need to re-unlock my bootloader. As stated in title, I'm s-off with a tampered/locked status. If someone can point me in the right direction, that would be awesome.

If you have s-off, you don't need to unlock. You can flash things through the bootloader. What are you trying to do? Recovery? Update firmware? Once you're s-off through Lazypanda or Dirty Racun you keep s-off.

No problem. I'm stuck on the computer for a couple days so I figured I'd finally help out on these forums.
I thought I would start a thread to help people that sent there DNA out to get JTAG s-off and now are trying to flash a custom Rom.
If anybody want to put there experience on here so people know the steps and the correct way to handle the bootloader.
I think it would be helpful. I am still waiting for mine to come back from mobiletechvideos so it would be helpful for me to.
Thanks to anyone who contributes.

The purpose of the forum is to get the right info I've seen conflicting points on whether or not you still need to unlock the bootloader after s-off.
My understanding was that once your s-off you don't need to unlock because it bypasses the bootloader security checks. I am probably wring but I was hoping to get a clarified answer with this forum what do think choochoo

The eng hboot has more functions available so there is a better chance of messing up the phone. Most people stick with the stock hboot since that's good enough for most.

You shouldn't have to all you really need to do is flash the ENG Hboot and flash a recovery and then flash a Rom most have root already and your good to go. If you wanna use the stock hboot and only want su permission then you do need to unlock hboot it to be able to flash a recovery and superuser or supersu.

Just got my phone back from the JTAG service and this was the exact procedure. Flashed the ENG boot and then flashed recovery. Bootloader still says 'LOCKED' but allowed me to flash.
I've JTAGG'd 18 DNA devices so far on the OTA update (I do this on the downlow due to specific "developer" who can't understand how to get all phones to take the RIFF JTAG flash software.
Flash ENG Hboot if you want the options available to it, though not mandatory. Install a root program (SuperSU is my recommendation), then flash a recovery.
Immediately backup your current setup, then go for any ROM you see fit. Profit.
