Hey guys. Im having trouble rooting my wt19i Live Walkman Android.
Noob question, but i cant find any other place to ask - could someone point me to a useful thread, or a new method
I have attempted the DOOMLORD method, but the zip files always fail (from all 3 locations ive downloaded them from). The Eroot method doesn't pick up my device. And the Flashtool method cant work out the drivers.
Any ideas would be great!
THanks

Both of these were hopeful. it seems i have a problem with my zip tools. but im using 3 different tools (winzip, zip and IZArc)..... All have either 'CRC header" problems or 'CRC failed - File is Broken'.
Any ideas?
Im soo sorry for being the biggest n00b. but none of the other websites point out what this issue is! The FAQ's on these zip tools are not proving anything. FYI, the file it always has a problem with is the runme.bat
Use my pack, just disable antivirus
For what do you need zipping tools? To unpack?
Try downloading the files again and extract them using 7zip (maybe reinstall it) and try it again

No it's not. You should be able to root without unlocking the bootloader
Try installing PC Companion or SUS and Flashtool (drivers) again for the drivers and try all methods like mentioned in my guide, eroot or cydia impactor
Sent from my Nexus 4 running Android 4.3
Try installing pdanet
Try installing pdanet software on your pc and your phone as well,it will provide you with necessary ADB drivers for your phone :good: and then try to use flashtool. pdanet is basically a thethrng software for android install it to use flashtool.
1. Install .exe file on your windows pc and .apk on your phone.
2. Then Go in the drive where you have installed the flashtool, go to drivers and install x10 mini drivers.
Now flash the kernel Your phone is rooted  ,
You need to unlock your bootloader first do this.

Yes, thats the method I used. Kinda guessing I did something wrong? :/
Yeah
You don't need to downgrade, you just need it if you want to unlock your Bootloader. Try to upgrade the Kernel and then try again.
Yeah m8 u dont need to downgrade kernel now to root (zergrush exploit works on gingerbread now whereas a few months ago we had to use azuzu root method). First thing to try would be flash the kernel upgrade & see if it boots (hope it boots but i cant guarantee that). If it doesnt boot up then u need to go grab this:
http://www.multiupload.com/564T6TLUD8.
This is global generic firmware for x10i if you flash this with flashtool it will take u back to stock (u will lose apps & data unfortunately if u dont have backup) when u do this boot up, turn on USB debug & allow non-market apps and then click root button. U dont need to downgrade kernel anymore thats why it failed pal. If u need any more help/ cant get it working pls feel free to pm me & ill explain it in bit more detail (sorry had few beers tonight)
Thanks guys, gonna try that and see what happens. I appreaciate the help!
EDIT- No luck with the kernal upgrade. Grabbing that multiupload and hoping I'll have more luck with that.
No probs pal anytime.
Before I destroy the phone again. Just got it working with upgrade thing.
What guides are the ones still working? The X10 forum is kinda confusing me.

Hey mate I didn't know this for a while but unless u unlock your bootloader u can't brick your device you can always get back to normal using seus or pc companion. If they fail use flashtool to flash what I posted earlier and that will make ur phone like when u first bought it from shop. (also buddy click root button and you should be rooted no problem now u got correct fw)

It's rooted and everything now, jus waiting for rom to download.
So... Got everything ready but can't get xRecovery to work. Can't find any guides either. I do need to install busybox and then xRecovery, right?
Tried installing bot 0.3 and CWM 5.x.x.x with flashtools now.
0.3 doesn't work at all and CWM doesn't let me flash new ROMs. Never been so frustrated in all my life.
Install the latest flashtool, for root and xrecovery. That it.

How can it be hard, you set 2,3options and connect phone to pc, toolkit does all the job..

For start chill your horses.
I have eyes and I can read, so no need to copy/paste what has been written in this thread.
Second, I know why doomlord's root toolkit failed for OP. doomlords toolkit CAN root .562(also known as 4..0.3) but CAN'T root .431(4.0.4) fw, which is what flashing .562 kernel is needed in order to root.
I know the procedure, I wrote the tutorial(which I linked in post#4), after which guys from talk.sonymobile wrote it on their forum, just FYI.

If you are on 4.0.3, doomlord CAN root your phone, if it can't, you are doing something wrong, in which case, we need to see log of that root process.
Flashtool is only used to flash 4.0.3 kernel, but that's for people on 4.0.4.

He failed with doomlord root toolkit because he had 4.0.4! He needed to flash kernel from 4.0.3, then use toolkit then flash back kernel from 4.0.4

if doomlord's root toolkit FOR ICS, failed for you, provide log of that process.
Now I tell you another thing, which you would know if you read all post in this thread, specially link I gave above, you have unlocked your bootloader, ffs, you can root without any mess with root toolkits, simply flash/hotboot kernel with CWM and flash superuser zip. And enjoy your phone.
Tutorial on talk.sonymobile doesn't have part for unlocked bootloaders, that's why I linked my tutorial which have both parts.
He failed with doomlord root toolkit because he had 4.0.4! He needed to flash kernel from 4.0.3, then use toolkit then flash back kernel from 4.0.4
if doomlord's root toolkit FOR ICS, failed for you, provide log of that process.
U are rite 4.0.3 is workable in doomslord but only on this doomslord toolkit for xperia "DooMLoRD_v1_Xperia-2011-ICS-ROOT-emu-busybox-su"
it has pushed the SU properly nd installed it ! later i have downloaded CWM 5, so i 1st took Astro File Manager from the Market, for exploring the SD then installed the CWM 5, so when i did the SU asked to get the permission nd then all the options in CWM are ticked well and Su got CWM in its list, so all good and rooted, now please refer me the app that can solve the brightness issue in Neo V :good:
Thanx & Regards
now that i have rooted & all ! how will i go to fw .431 means 4.0.4 ? and if i flash 4.04 will my phone still be rooted ?
If u know a process of how to root in 4.0.4 nd can install su in it plz tell ! nd plz clarify me that CWM is necessary to have it 1st installed on the device or SU ?
Lets suppose ill clear the picture ... if i want to flash 4.0.4 with Kernal .431 my phone is open to root, but as u know the doomlords kit failed ! is there any otherway to push SU as a zip like ur mentioning that flash it with hotboot wats that how the process is going to be ?
Plz help !
Hi guys,
I thought I rooted my phone succesfully, but after installing "Fasterfix" from market it said "can't get root".. but I think I know where the problem lies.
Let me explain the situation.
phone:
Sony Xperia U
ST25i
Kernel-version: 2.6.35.7+
Build-number: 6.0.B.3.184 (It was initially 6.0.B.1.... I used SEUS before rooting..)
I'm planning to root my phone so I can use couple of apps to the fullest, that need root acces.
I followed this guide to unlock bootloader: http://www.xperiaplanet.nl/unlockbl.html
I downloaded & installed the fastboot drivers AND the fastboot binaries from: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1526866
I followed this guide to root: http://www.techclap.com/9935/root-sony-xperia-u-lt25i-phone-tutorial/
I used the Stock Kernel for Xperia U from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1717270 (this is probably the reason why it is not rooted? I flashed my phone with a non rooted stock kernel?..)
The questions:
1. All the nessecary downloads, the drivers, binairies, kernels, etc etc..., are these made/Edited by users and non official devs, or are these from Sony officially? How can one be sure these things we install on our phone are safe without malicious code? In the end it's made by non-official Sony devs. Correct me if I'm wrong here, I don't want to kick someone in the shin..
2. Why aren't those downloads (drivers, binairies, kernels, etc etc.) not linked to the offical sony website?
3. To just have a rooted phone, without the extra bells & whistels most kernels and roms come with. Is it enough to flash with a stock kernel, like I did?
4. How can I undo everything I have done, and have my stock phone back?
5. When rooted, can I still have an official auto update to ICS?
Yes I have red most of the sticky threads, but still.. I need some help.
Thanks in advance,
Is there an app called superuser in the app drawer?

No, there is not
Then its not rooted. The kernel mustn't have flashed, did you def unlock the bootloader ok?
Look for the Xperia S guides as it's the same method, just use a U kernel instead

Okey thanks m8.
yes the bootloader is unlocked. It says so in the service info menu.
I'll try the flash later. First I want to know for sure if all my date is going to be safe.. I mean, is it safe to use email and other confidential things on a phone that is flashed with custom (non-official) apps and drivers that are made by non-offical people.. I find so very little about security on these topics.. It's like everybody is just flashing and installing third-party software like its nothing.. But you can never now.. What if a dev puts malicious code in a dowload (like the fastboot drivers, fastboot binaries, kernel, ...) that will send thrusty info to him/her..
Can somebody please clarifie this for me?
Just download su from the market and then any root checking app. Maybe you already have root and are just missing the superuser app.
I had to install a superuser app myself too but I rooted with another method.

That version can't be rooted using bin4ry's method via .bat file or flashtool. Either unlock the bootloader and flash a rooted kernel or flash back to an older firmware that can be rooted and OTA update.

donwgrade to previous version.. and root it .. after that flash it agian.. thats the only solution..
Assuming that you have installed following:
- Android ADB

- mobile is readily getting into flashmode and fashboot mode.
- usually i dont go into these hasles i install and flash CWM and then install custom ROM which are far better than stock rom.

You can root the XTZ, but it's a bit of work... IMO the easiest way is to install a custom rom, but there are other root methods for this device...

OK I am kind of lost with these numbers (109 etc)..I read the link and it looks like it isnt easy like the Samsung devices.
First do I need to unlock my bootloader? Is it possible to install custom rom without root?

1.) I suggest you simply flash 10.1.C.0.370 firmware and root it using the attached file below.
2.) install the latest dual recovery by NUT.
3.) then follow this:

two important things, you should be rooted and has a recovery installed before proceeding the update and retain the root .
@donedos After connecting the tablet with the companion software on my mac, I got the .109 upgrade
Now I am on .109 Firmware.
- How should I flash 10.1.C.0.370? Which tool to flash, source to find 10.1.C.0.370 (search would do?)?
Many thanks

Okay, I have flashed firmware .370 to my tablet (but used SGP312 instead of 311 which is the model of my tablet!), and I have that awful UI layout with the home key and back button of the bottom left and the drop down menu on bottom right! .109 update has popped up as well.
When/if I update to .109 (after root) will my model be SGP311?
I have rooted okay, but used doomlord xploit as the file you attached did not seem to work, and I have installed the recovery by NUT.
I now have the firmware for SGP311 (UK), but only a .ftf file (853,683kb). The directions above state you should have a zip file also

You might lose root with the OTA. The awful phone layout is a consequence of Google trying to unify the UI across Android devices. It's a bit better for devs, lot worse for users. But you eventually get used to it. With 4.4, even Settings app will have the giant phone UI.
