Dear xdadevelopers,
I've ported a Hero ROM to a HTC Magic.
Here's my problem:
Problem: There's a great battery drain when you're connected to the network (no data but just mobile network for calls/SMS)
Ported ROM: Sandwich Deluxe 4.0 .
Original ROM: Hero ROM
Kernel: carz-2.6.34.4 (fast and stable)
What probably causes the problem? The mobile network drains battery.
I'm not in a low signal-area. Everybody who uses the ROM has a drain.
I'm using a 2.x.x instead of a 3.0 kernel for an ICS ROM, can it be that this mismatch creates the drain?
The phone displays a singal strength of 0dBm 97 asu. (Not normal?)
What doesn't cause the problem? In airplane mode there is no drain at all. So it is unlikely that some apps causes the drain.
Wifi, GPS, sync, ... are all disabled.
What do you expect from xdamembers?
- Confirmation if the kernel is the issue of the drain. If not, I would like to know which files (in ROM) are responsible for network signal.
- Other solutions for solving the problem.
Thanks in advance

Solved by replacing firmware folder.
Can you please elaborate a bit more ,? how did you solve the pb? i am facing exactly the same.
I'm pushing this one back up (though it is old)
because I have the same exact problem
started when I flashed CM 10.1 on my HTC Incredible S
and now it won't disappear, even when I restored to stock ROM

The problem was related to the the firmware folder inside the ROM, I doubt it is the same source of your problem.

Thanks for the reply. my problem is same as yours.. the radio seems like turn off when im not using my phone.. in the battery stats, screen off = red signal bar and when the screen is on = green signal. battery drains overnight eventho wifi gps and eveything are turned off.. but i found it weird is whenever i plugged a charger to my phone, green bar all the way even when im not using. so maybe u know what the problem excatly is.. im having a hard time looking for the solution but nothing worked. thanks! =/

I see other ROM users don't have battery problems. You could try a full system wipe and reflashing your ROM.

Hello.
I flashed a few days ago the latest update on my girlfriends sola via PC Companion and now she comlains about extreme battery drain :/
She charged the phone yesterday before going too sleep to 100% and today morning there were only 18% battery.
Everything is on stock - no CWM, Custom Kernel whatever..
Do you guys know a fix for this? Thanks!

What apps is running in the background? Sounds like something is sucking up the data via wifi/3G.
Or Bluetooth/GPS....
Etc etc.
Try changing to extended battery mod kernels or change governer to powersave
Sent from my Xperia U using Tapatalk 2
The best you can do if you dont find what drains the battery is Hard Reset the phone, it will help for sure.
thanks guys at first.
installed better battery stats & Cpu Spy and will take a look on it when i see her again to see whats eating battery. she sent me a screenshot with "androis OS" has 80% battery usage with ~12hours CPU time.
what do you mean with hard reset - just make factory reset in android itself?
or in recovery with wipe system / cache / dalvik?

Wait wait - she is on stock but has CWM? Why does she need it?
Anyway, i had the same problem yesterday with another ROM - 89 % android system, only hard reset via phone menu did the job.

Yeah she is on stock without cwm or something.

i think is battery stats problem. try reset/wipe ur battery stats after update to ICS. u may use battery calibration in playstore to done so too. then u will see a significant improvement in battery life.

Here are sine tips for stock sola battery drain issue..
1) keep brightness to the lowest possible value
2)Switch off glove mode it eats battery like crazy
3)switch off bravia engine it too eats battery
4)switch off all network connections like wifi Bluetooth and run on 2g when sleeping....
Hope it helps
Cheers!!

Well i instaled Gin2JB with Night elf 10.1 exp and i have too high drain ... i almost get 50mins onscreen time
I dont know what to do anymore..i reflashed stock gb then installed gin2jb and same drain ...My phone gets into deep sleep but i still get 8 battery/H consumed...
try flashing other kernel.
battery drain is usually because of kernel.
Can you suggest me other kernels than nightelf ?

If you are not specific with rom try some kitkat rom with the kernel given it zip. I'm using carbon rom, work good for my usage. I get more than a day of battery.
Tried lupus , tried Carbon rom , all eat 50+ battery per hour in this progam https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.WazaBe.android.BatteryDrain
when i`m playing and i have 3G on
I even changed basebands , i`m on 77 now , been on 64 .. i see the results tomorrow , after this night..I barely get 30 mins ontime screen ... i have checked with better battery stats , when phone is in deep sleep still consume 5% per H
At how i use my phone i need to charge it once every 5-6H... that's so sad.

Did you try the Night ELF's 10.1 lite version (Its the version other than experimental version)
Try that...your problem may get solved because i also faced the same problem while i was on Gingerbread many a times.
Change your kernal after once you flash any of the stock rom with its kernal.
Your problem may get solved as mine got solved when i encountered the same problem as yours.
I use to use the codename rom with nightELF's kernal
Hope this helps

Ya my friend, give it a try.It worked for me so that might work for u too.
Also if u want to use a Gingerbread rom then Codename Is a good rom which u may try out if u like to
And install that kernal after you intsall the stock Gingerbread ftf of sony including the kernal.
Might solve any issues if your phone is having one.
Hope this helps
