I have P769 running CM 10.1 previously using CWM and want to switch to TWRP. I don't have fastboot, while carloswii5 suggested that TWRP can be installed with Nandroid Manager. So I downloaded TWRP from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=45208253, and in nandroid manager, select "Recovery", "Flash Recovery", "Choose Recovery From SD-Card", select file "p769-twrp,img", and stuck in the attached screen.No confirm bottom to continue. Help please? Thanks.
Edit: I solved it. Turns out the system font was set to "large" and Nandroid Manager didn't cope, so the top dialog occupied all the space. Change font to normal shows the button half of the dialog.

Ok so I installed rom manager and downloaded the M9 rom and put it in the root of my sdcard. I select install rom and it reboots in recover . The options I have are
reboot system
reinstall packages
delete all user data
delete cache data
format internal sd
I tried selecting reinstall packages but it gets about 10% and says E:failed to verify whole file signature
Installation aborted.
Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

It looks like you are not rooted or you lost your update folder (the rooting folder)
You should see if the phone is rooted on the app menu a superuser icon if you do not see that then it is not rooted. When the phone is correctly rooted in recovery the menu will have "install zip from the sdcard" if that is not there thenit is not rooted. This could be caused from a bad flash you may need to reflash the root (use oneclick) and/or may need to odin back to stock and start from there.
Ok. i followed the guide at the top of this forum to root my device. Everything seemed to work peachy. No errors, no nothing. I then attempted to use CWR to install Cyanogenmod 7.1. I used the guide on the Cyanogenmod wiki ***Link removed because of posting rules***
Because I rooted from here and installed CWR, I started at the part near the bottom.
Download the latest version of CyanogenMod.
Optional: Download the Google Apps for the device.
Place the CyanogenMod update.zip file on the root of the SD card.
Optional: Place the Google Apps .zip on the root of the SD card also.
Boot into the ClockworkMod Recovery.
Once the device boots into the ClockworkMod Recovery, use the side volume buttons to move around, and either the power button or the trackball to select.
Optional: Select backup and restore to create a backup of current installation on the Samsung Galaxy S II (AT&T).
Select the option to Wipe data/factory reset.
Then select the option to Wipe cache partition.
Select Install zip from sdcard.
Select Choose zip from sdcard.
Select the CyanogenMod update.zip.
Optional: Install the Google Apps by performing steps 7 - 9 again and choosing the Google Apps update.zip.
Once the installation has finished, select +++++Go Back+++++ to get back to the main menu, and select the Reboot system now option. The Samsung Galaxy S II (AT&T) should now boot into CyanogenMod.

The problem i have though is that when my device boots, it goes to the Samsung Splash screen and sits there with a yellow exclamation point. Does nothing else.
i did boot back into CWR and run my backup, so my phone is back, but I'm still clueless as to what would cause this. Any help please.
you need to go into CWM...format system and cashe, factory reset/data wipe....then install CM7, try it like that it should work.....some people have said to flash the CM7zip twice!
I did just notice something. The Zip for Cyan is titled "Update-cm-7.1.0-Galaxys2ATT-signed.zip". Does that mean it's an update and not the full install?

Samsung galaxy note i717. I rooted my phone yesterday as I also updated from 4.0.4 to 4.1.2. I have learned a few things about roms, kernels, backing up, restoring, etc.
I have SUPER SU, titanium backup, and ROM manager.
I understand that all rooted phones must have a SU to grant apps access to the software.
As for titanium backup, I have deleted bloatware and backed up and verified all of my information. I also bought the pro version of titanium backup. But for the Rom manager, I'm not too sure how to use that yet. I guess Titanium is for backing up and restoring, and ROM manager is for downloading the new rom?
To get a new rom (someone please recommend one to me? Specifically for good battery life and a customizable UI)
So you have to download it from the computer, then move to your SD card. Afterwards, the computer part is done right? How do you get the phone in the mode to put in the new rom? And do you have to wipe the stock rom first?
Someone please please recommend me a rom and tell me step by step how to do it without bricking my phone... And to restore everything back.

ROM Manager installs the CWM recovery on your device, it's a little tool that we use for installing zips with ROMs, kernels and stuff like that.
You have to get the ROM on the internal or external SD, and then go to the recovery mode. You can do this by pressing a button combo when the device is booting or you can also get to it with ROM Manager. Select "apply update from sdcard", and after this select "install zip from sdcard" (or "install zip from external sdcard" if you have your flashable zip in the external sd). Browse for your zip and select it to apply it.
To restore everything back, you have to make a nandroid backup before installing a new ROM. After you entered the recovery, select "backup and restore" and then select "backup". Just wait a little and it's finished.
A custom ROM I highly recommend is CyanogenMod, and you can also try AOKP.

I want to make backup of original rom.
Can i do it with clockworkmod rom menager. I want to instal rom menager with odin and do a backup.
Will that work. I want to save original rom because of Product warranty.

If u are using twrp then,
-First ensure that u have installed any custom rom or stock
-then go to backup option in twrp, it will ask u what u wanna backup, either Cache ,EFS, System, etc.
-then swipe to backup
-after backup finished, you can restore it back from restore option
And u can also save it on your laptop or pc and then again paste it on your sdcard or device storage/TWRP/64UR748848/and ur backup

I've successfully rooted an LG G2 (D802) running 4.4.2, using IORoot v25.
It appears that I have the following apps working: SuperSU, ROM Manager, TWRP Manager. X-plore (all seem to be able to obtain root permissions).
I want to install a custom ROM so I need to back up the stock ROM (etc) but I am having no luck.
For example, Using ROM Manager, I have tried backup up the ROM in 4 ways:
1. Recovery Setup > [Install or Update] ClockwordModrecovery. Then hit "Reboot into Recovery". It reboots into recovery menu, but no back up options listed.
2. (With CWM Recovery still set), hit "Backup Current ROM" (says the backup directory will be /mnt/shell/emulated/clockworkmod/backup). Still it boots into the recovery menu without any backup options, and when I reboot, nothing appears in the /mnt/shell directory.
3. Use ROM Manager to select TWRP recovery. Hit option to go to recovery mode. Still no backup options are listed, so I reboot.
4. (With TWRP Recovery still set), I hit "Backup Current ROM" (underneath it says the backup directory will be /sdcard/TWRP/BACKUPS/0225b99d9a5159f0) STILL, no backup options, and no directory /sdcard/TWRP.
Any advice?
