Ive been with samsung for as long as ive been on android. My first smartphone was the s2....and yes i know, AMAZING PHONE, seeing as it was my first phone for android I cudnt fault, it was truly amazing! Then i bought the s3......dont get me wrong, at the beginning it was faster and smoother than my s2 and the screen was beautiful. But that perfect relationship was short lived, as i used my s3 more and more, it began to slow down and freeze constantly. At first I thought it was just something I installed, but it wasnt. To this day, it freezes 7-10 times a day, exiting an app takes ages(8 seconds roughly) and who can forget the random restarts? and it has made me lose all faith in samsung :/ the features their phones offer are unbelievable, but whats the point if i cant even use them properly. So the s4 isnt gonna come close to my wallet, or any other samsung phone for that matter. HTC isnt really someone I want to invest in ( good phones....sloooow as hell updates), even though robert downing Jr nearly convinced me Forget sony brands and lg can piss off (apart from their google phones)..... So now im left with google phones or........well apple (cue the boo's). I love Stock android, used it before and it is amazing!! But to buy a nexus 4 in my country (Ireland) it had to be shipped from the uk and it ended up being around €550 (720 dollars) and NO im not paying that!!
So at the end of the day i have two choices, wait for the nexus 5 and pray for it to be released in ireland for a reasonable price or............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................go for an iphone 5s (it was hard to finally type it)
So what do you guys think?
And I know I could have included motorola ..........but with that price.........they are dead to me (need i mention the phone im talking about)
I feel your pain. Right there myself also. Yesterday mine froze about 20 times. Spent some time with dummy file writer and lagfix and it is better now, but still on probation.
I am thinking about LG G2 (I'm in US), if the audio reviews check out.
I understand you, because I had some freezing issue while I was using XXELLA firmware, so after few weeks I upgraded to XXEMB1 and since that day I don't have any freezing issues, and I am using my phone for more than 5 months.
So I would suggest you to try to download XXEMB firmware because as I heard it's the most freezes safe firmware but if it's will happen anyway, it's means that it's hardware issue not software one.
I also had tis problem right from, regretted buying the phone since 1 year ago.. but i have kept sending my phone back under warranty it took me 4 (!) times until they finally decided to replace my phone with a new one without the failing mmc chip.. i would advice you to keep sending it back because i was thinking the same but on the other hand its a hell of alot of money you would waste.. now im a very happy owner and glad i kept resending it in for repair..

I searched signal loss, and dropped signal but could not find a thread that matched my problem. I have found some people with similar problems through google search but I haven't seen any fixes.
Here we go...
I got my first atrix BRAND NEW in July. It ran perfect! Updated to GB, factory reset it and everything was working great. Couple weeks later it started doing random restarts. It got to the point where it would lock up at the M logo for 10-20 min or sometimes even constantly so I would have to pull the battery. It got so bad that I had to take it in for warranty. I had this phone for over a month with NO signal problems what so ever.
I get the 1st remanufactured Atrix and it is dropping signal left and right. I called up ATT and jumped through their hoops, turned it off, let them mess with it, factory reset it and NOTHING. Still had the same problem, would go from 3 bars to 4 bars then it will drop signal and the red circle will show up. probably happens about 5 times per minute.
They tell me to take it back, so I oblige. I go up to the warranty center and they give me a new sim card and say that should fix it.... NOPE, Still doing the same exact thing so I take it back up there again. The give me another(#2) remanufactured phone. I finish the setup and guess what... Still have a worthless signal and it is dropping out a lot.
For reference, signals on the first two replacement atrix's are running anywhere from 84dbm up to 120dbm and hangs most of the time around 96dbm.
I am now on my FOURTH remanufactured Atrix(5th overall) and still having the same problem. ATT are being total douche nozzles as they will not release me from my contract. I have spent over 30 hours dealing with them on this problem thus far and I am getting extremely tired of it.
Just for reference, my Wife has an I4 and she is not experiencing any of these problems. I also travel a lot and I experience the same problem in Dallas(home), Midlothian(hour south of Dallas), Washington DC, Tennessee, Virginia and Maryland among other places. I am pretty sure this is a software glitch since it happens wherever I am.
I have a home office and work from home. I told ATT that if this was happening with my original BRAND NEW Atrix that I would have taken it back in a heartbeat. There is not a chance I would deal with losing data and dropping signal for over a month with a brand new phone.
So, my question I guess is this. If this is a software problem, would it be best to try and root and see if that fixes it? Or will that not change a problem like this. The remanufactured phones came with 2.3 installed while my first one had 2.2 and I had to upgrade it myself. Is there a way I can remove 2.3 from this phone and reinstall it to see if that fixes it? I am completely open to suggestions as I have run out of options.
I know exactly what you mean. I also had 3-4 *new* atrixs right from att. (Around late July) Every time instead of addressing the problems, they just gave me a new device. Eventually I decided to root and unlock my bootloader. BEST decision that I could have made. As soon as I installed a different ROM it was as if I had a new device. I was about to exchange it for a different device and now I'm really glad that I didn't. For the signal issues I would try flashing a new radio to see if that helps at all.

My first atrix was like that and it was a refurbished one. On my 2nd, it is completely fine. I think you should tell them to send you NEW atrix instead of a refurb.
that sounds like really terrible luck. i a agree, i think it would help a lot if you rooted your phone and installed some custom rom. although there may be truth with what Semseddin and might actually still be something awry with the refurbs

Unfortunately I have tried to get them to send me a new phone but they will not do it. I tried several times, even talked to the managers about it and nothing.
What is ridiculous is that when my first phone crashed I was only like 14 days past the return period where I could have received a NEW Atrix. I tried explaining this too them and they would not do anything to help me. I have been with Cingular/ATT for over 10 years and they obviously didn't care.
I think i will just try a new rom and see how that goes.
Hmm..well if you've absolutely made up ur mind on rooting ur phone and installing custom roms then i would recommend u to use the DarkSide ROM since it seems to have most of the fixes u need (including the signal loss..See ChangeLog for more)
Also, if u've already tried Randomverll's idea of flashing a new radio and still it didn't help, it may be a hardware problem..anyway try flashing a new rom and see
So, a few weeks back my Mozart started presenting problems... In it's defence, i've had that device for approx. 2 years and if you see the state it is in right now, you'd be surprised it survived this long!
Now I love Windows Phone and my next device would have been Windows Phone 8 but alas, I need a stable phone with me always and thus can't rely on the Mozart in its current state. So I sold off my iPad 2 and went ahead and bought a HTC One X and initially loved it but grew to dislike it... mainly due to random crashes (probably a device manufacturing defect) but most importantly due to the poor battery life.
So I sold off the One X and purchased a iPhone 4S however after a few days of usage, some microphone issues emerged. I got it replaced and soon enough, the issues surfaced on the new device. Checked online and a huge number of users are apparently facing issues with iPhone 4s as well... so then returned that and got a iPhone 4...
But alas! Websites on Safari were a pain at times, cellular data would kill itself during a call though it didn't happen always, and some other stuff as well... So now i've sold it off and am in the market for a new phone.
Today i returned my cousin's HTC One X and got a Galaxy S3... have been testing it out and am loving it so far... Especially the battery! Charged it up to 67%... have had Exchange Sync (Push) turned on, two Gmail accounts on 15 minutes sync, Facebook and twitter push, and made at-least over a dozen calls some of them going over 10-15 minutes... and a game here or there plus an hour at the gym with continuous music playback and referring to a workout app... and in 3 hours time, it's battery has gone from 67% to 49%!!!
If it were my One X, it would have pretty much died by now or come close to it. Even the iPhone 4 didn't produce such good battery results for me - but close nonetheless.
So now i'm considering to the store tomorrow and purchasing a S3 for myself! Wanted to see if anyone here could provide any feedback on usage based on a couple of weeks or days of usage of the device? Battery life? any crashes? Anything else?
UPDATE
Forgot to ask another important question... Now forgive my ignorance, but I am kind of new to Android - although I did use XDA numerous times to flash my brother's X10 + Arc and Sis-in-law's HTC Chacha... when i purchased this phone today for my cousin, it was a packed box. On opening and starting it up, it asked for a PIN code to activate. Which i Imagine meant that it was carrier locked?
The shop owner disappeared for 10 minutes and returned back with the phone unlocked and ready to use. He said he got it unlocked by using a proper code and all... and to be on the safe side, as soon as i got home, i did a hard reset and it didn't lock out on me. However, I do notice "ClockworkMod" installed on the S3 and also the state of the device in settings is set to Modified. What does this mean? Any cause for concern?
Regards!

The shop owner probably rooted your device in order to unlock the phone (rooting voids your warranty), do you see a superuser app in the app drawer?
If so, install Triangle Away from the playstore or Chainfires thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494114 and reset the flashcounter. Than go back to the shop and let him reflash the rom to restore warranty.

If its just warranty... then not worried about that. As i purchased this one for my cousin without the warranty - Rs. 5000 cheaper (approx. $50).
But thanks though, this is good to know... 'coz I was planning on purchasing mine with the warranty!
Battery life is a lot better than the one x..... the s3 should easily be able to get you through a day of heavy use and have juice to spare.

Good day everybody i was going to grab an lg v10 yesterday but once i read about the boot loop issue i stepped back and now i cant really decide if this is a serious major issue that affected a large sum of devices or just few unlucky ones .. here i have no warranty so ill be burned if i got hit by one of those defected units .. also there aint any info about if there was a specific batch thats was defected or a production date thats related to the issue .. so is this a serious issue to be considered like in the g4 or it was just few defected units ? How serious is it ? Is it a pandemic ? I really wish its not as its been weeks im comparing and i finally settled fully on the v10 as it seems the complete package ..
There have been a couple of threads lately with this question. So I can only repeat what I wrote there.
I have a V10 (H960A) for a couple of months now and never had any bootloops. I'm very happy with this phone. It's fast and reliable, only the battery could have larger capacity.
Same here. I m using H901 (oct 2015 manufacturing) and so far it is working fine without any issue.
When you search on google the amounts of people complaining about this issue is seriously scary .. also there aint any pattern .. people from all over the world and from different regions are reporting .. the one common thing is that it does not show up early most people reported it after few months of usage ...
This thread alone is terryfing ..
https://m.reddit.com/r/lgv10/comments/4yao1s/v10_bootloop_please_report_in_this_sticky_thread/
Its a pandemic i think so .. this is definitely not a bad luck .. this is a clear manufacturing defect ...
Mine bootlooped...I've only had my replacement for a couple weeks. I think the problem is pretty widespread.

Thanks for opening my eyes ... I think now im gonna head towards the 6p although i really wanted the v10 because of the dac but its just too much risk ..
Lg didnt even care to achnowleadge such defect which only causes more disrespect from my side at least ... Samsung screwed up but they payed for it bravely ... Lg is no longer a trusted manufacturer for me ...
I've had mine 10 months and no boot loop issue. People with negative results tend to out represent the ones with no problems.
For example, not many people would come here to say how great their phone is but many would come here with compliants and issues because that is generally what this forum deals with.
I think the issue is overblown myself.
Further I use battery drainers which makes the phone pretty hot and I haven't run into an issue.

No, I love the V10 but this is a real issue. I think your phone is just a little older than mine was but not much. It hasn't happened yet but it still may...

I'm sure most have read many of the horrible bootloop stories about the v10 by now but I want to still try & save anyone out there from possibly getting this horrible phone! My bf & I both got the LGv10 & we have both had the dreaded bootloop. So anyone that has a v10 better have all of their information backed up!!! It comes out of no where without any type of warning at all & after it goes into bootloop there is no return. I have read multiple threads on freezing & baking the motherboard of the phone to revive it long enough to backup data so i will be testing these methods over the weekend & i am going to cry myself a river if i can't revive it long enough to backup my pictures :crying:
Before the bootloop issue, i enjoyed everything about the phone except for the 2 hour battery life which kind of killed all positive features of the phone as this was a huge struggle the entire year i owned the v10. The battery seemed fine for maybe 3 months into use, but then took a cliff dive & wouldn't hold a charge worth a crap from there on after. It also would get hot during phone calls & while on the charger. It was practically impossible to not use this phone while on the charger sometimes because it's life span was so short. Phone games rapidly drained battery & videos as well. The screen started freezing up semi-often where the screen had to be turned off for a minute & then back on to work again & sometimes it had to be powered off completely to undo this. I wish i could speak better of this phone but nope, i can't. I would understand if these issues had started happening after 2 years of owning the device but after a few months, there is no excuse coming from someone who babied their phone & never dropped it. I hope this helps some people
Hey folks,
I've been having few issues with my phone since i bought it brand new the day it released in Germany (I am not german however, haha) - sometimes it would be slow, it would overheat and apps would be crashing because of that.
In november last year, I decided to try and solve that headache (honestly not worthy of the premium price I paid for it when it was new) by unlocking the bootloader and flashing a different kernel (not sure which one now). All seemed well for a few days, but them the fingerprint scanner stopped working (hardware not found), camera would freeze the phone for about a minute before restarting the whole UI, the battery would drain at a stupidly high rate (1 hour screen on time would leave me with 50 % battery in the afternoon, and I am not even doing anything system heavy) and the bluetooth was as buggy as before (the notorious terrible range of it). :crying:
So i figured the kernel was at fault and decided to flash stock firmware from Sony. I tried 3 different stock firmwares and oh my god, It's still there. I think unlocking the bootloader has inflicted all this. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I could do to get rid of atleast the fingerprint and camera problems? I am almost certain I will replace the phone soon for something else, but for the sake of trying to fix what was wrong from the factory and for the fact I might want to sell the phone, I want to make it work. I don't think returning it to the store for a replacement would work, since I managed to crack the back glass at one point last year and they'll just refuse it for mechanical damage ...
Thanks for any suggestions. Phone's not rooted, I could not figure out a reasonable way on how to do it, I am not very skilled in this regard, even though I had rooted my 2 previous Nexus phones (speaking of which, I miss my Nexus 4, but no 4G and bad battery made me change to Sony).
Aaaaanyway, I updated to 7.0 Nougat from one of our nation's carriers and so far so good. Will keep you posted, especially if things go south again. :cyclops:
My V10 went into a bootloop back in November and I was fortunate enough to get it replaced days before the 1 warranty expired. Yesterday, my wife's V10 also suffered the same failure. Unfortunately, no insurance and Verizon still insists that they don't know anything about the hardware fault that's causing these phones to bootloop. I can cough up my failure to just bad luck, but both phones failing for the same thing has nothing to do with luck.
If anyone knows of a class action suit being filed against LG, I would be interested in signing up.
Last LG product I'll ever purchase.
lawsuit
I'd be surprised if there wasn't one. The same thing happened to my G4.
I'm pretty sure there is one...Google it
I've seen the articles of an active lawsuit against them, but there's no information on how to join. Usually, the attorneys will get companies to release the information of customers who may have been affected so that they can be contacted to join or opt out. Either way, I will send them an email and see if I get a response..
My phone just got the bootloop yesterday and I was able to get Verizon to agree to send a replacement for me even though I am well out of warranty. The person I spoke with on chat said she researched it and said it was a known issue so they could cover it. So my replacement phone comes tomorrow. Now I am just trying to get it to boot long enough for me to back up whatever I can.

You faired far better than me. They told me they didn't know anything about the issue (however they knew about it back in November when my phone died a few days before it's one year anniversary) when I called about my wife's phone suffering the same fate.
I did call LG and they are definitely aware of the issue as they extended the warranty of the phone by an additional 6 months.
Verizon should still address this issue with its customers rather than brush it off as just another defective device out if warranty.
I think there is one right now.. Not sure how to find it.. I notice most of the people experiencing bootloop ignored fixing the overheating, which almost all of them do out the box.. Mine did and I stopped the overheating right away simply by enabling developer option and turning off all window animations.. Don't know what that is but since them my v10 stays cold to the touch for basic daily use.. Even when watching videos.. I haven't tried gaming but I plan to.. You might want to do it to the one you just fixed.. By default it's on " x1."

Thanks, I'll give that a shot. My wife isn't a very heavy user, so don't know how the phone overheated that much to cause the hardware issue.
Received notification that LG repaired the phone by replacing the main board. They determined the fault to be "phone not charging". What a crock of ****. That was not even a problem.
Meanwhile, I'm 2 days in still waiting for a response to my email from the firm that is already suing them.

I bought my V10 day 1 (10/30/'15) and it bootlooped like a week ago. Sent it in and just got the email saying it wasn't charging through the port. Right... 20 months in and they're still replacing boards "under warranty" though so I'm not mad lol

Nice to know it wasn't just me they used that excuse with, guess they don't want the real reason of shoddy hardware being a liability in court.
My V10 replacement from Nov 2016 now exhibits WiFi disconnection issues. Wife's V10 has no such problems. Hopefully I can get to November before the phone totally faults out again.
I was looking forward to the Pixel 2 but I heard it's going to be a LG manufactured phone. Ugh, that's sad news as I won't even consider it.
Agreed, I definitely won't be one of the early buyers for a pixel 2. Bought a Note 4 off ebay, gonna roll with that and my newly repaired V10 as a backup until one of these manufacturers makes a modern phone with all the features I want. V20 would've been it but I'm not about to have one of those bootloop on me as well.. See what the V30 brings I guess
Just a little update from getting my main board replaced. Got it back yesterday after missing FedEx the day before and the sim no longer worked, but they left my glass screen protector on which I wasn't expecting. It had been updated from 25A (I was holding out for mm root..) to 28A. Everything seems to work but it is no longer going to be my dd. If something happens to my note I'll activate it but it's on zerolemon-mp3 player duty for now. Still love the idea of the V10...
Thanks for the update. They had removed the screen protector on my phone when I got it back. But so far phone is running ok. It did shut down on its own from getting too hot a couple of days ago. I was taking pictures and leaving the photo camera on when it did it.
