Galaxy s2 overheats on cm10.1? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Whenever i flash a cm10.1 rom, the phone heats up a lot faster than stock rom near the camera(where the cpu is) ...anyone knows why this happens? Already tried tracking apps that might be using the cpu but there are nome. When playing games it gets considerably hotter on cm for some reason

The same with me,also heats up with cm10.2 and ICS...Five minutes online and it becames a bakery. The device is coolest with Jb & Resurrection Remix.

its probably because there are only drivers for stock rom which is version 4.1.2...=/

Poor performance on 4.0.4

I am on stock and updated to 4.0.4 recently and performance is horrible. Its laggy, tw has crashed several times, the phone has restarted several times, apps take longer to open the list could go on. I did a factory rest which helped initially but the problems have returned. Anyone else having issues?

My only advice is, don't run stock roms. Try out something custom
I just installed it the other day to test it and its the usual crap. The only game I play is backgammon and it was jerky as hell.
I soon reloaded rr3

CM 10 - RAM usage

Hello,
I would like to discuss and ask why the newest rom from cyanogenmod team, cm10, is using a lot of RAM om the galaxy s2.
By a lot, I mean buckets of RAM. If you look at your app management settings you will see that it uses up to 630+ of MegaBytes!! And the phone itself only has about 1 GB of it. Because of this heavy usage of the memory the phone gets laggy, the smoothness of the whole system is terrorized by this heavily usage of RAM memory.
The only option is to reset the phone and then the usage goes back to normal again.
Could someone explain why this is?

There memory leak in CM10. it's a known bug, that's why it's still in beta.
The only way you can fix this is:
1. by using a Ram manager
or
2. By using a patched services.jar for your ROM, made by Dorimanx
Hi,
I have the same RAM problems, i'll try the fixed services. Thanks

WiFi on AOKP is terrible please help :(

OK guys my problem is my WiFi is retardedly slow. I have been using omega ROM and everything was fine it seemed my WiFi was faster when I turned off power save mode. I have just installed resurection remix and I love it its amazing except the WiFi being slow as hell and obviously I can't do the power save mode thing. Is there anything I can do to make my WiFi work normally? Oh and I have never had a problem with it dropping out.

try different kernel
In honesty it only seems to be anything to do with xda, the xda app/tapatalk/xda on browser and sometimes YouTube lags a bit. I have tried clearing the data or everything and tried uninstalling/reinstalling the xda stuff but it just doesn't load quickly I have to have five or six attempts to get it too load.

it can be a bit slow sometimes, using a browser it may be due to adblocker, but also remember it a very active site with a lot of traffic sometimes
Remember only one thread, OP.
Sorry about the two threads like I say it takes ages to load the app and YouTube on AOKP and aosp but when I use the touchwiz based roms and I am able to turn off WiFi power save mode it works flawlessly, only problem is I'm not keen on touchwiz I really like this ROM and would love to keep using it but unless I can get this issue fixed I don't think I'm gonna be able to.

Ah never mind i have gone back to Omega's rom as it seems to be the best touch wiz rom. Hopefully i will be able to use aokp or aosp soon without WiFi issues. Thanks for everyone that tried to help though

You have to go back to ICS before going to any AOSP ROM.
Do I have to go to stock ICS or any custom one? And will that make my WiFi speed normal?

Any custom one will work as long as it is ICS and it should fix any probs you are having.

I will try it and let you know how I get on thanks.

Strange Lag After ROM Update

Hello!
I updated a ROM and my phone started lagging for no reason. I did a mega wipe and fresh installed the ROM and there is still lag. I even mega wiped and tried another ROM but I'm still getting lag. It usually happens when you open up apps or go into the settings. I'm not too sure what is happening. On stock kernel the lag is even worse and I haven't touched anything. It's a clean install. What could be the problem? Does anyone know? I can't see anything running in the background that might be causing it and I definitely installed the ROM in the right way.
R: Strange Lag After ROM Update
Woah...weird... it might be the kernel, try a good one(siyah) but most likely it is the rom's fault...
Which rom are you using?
Remember the s3 does lag once in a while(often for some) if you do not tweak it and take care of it...though custom roms usually fix 50% of this problem because they remove bloatware and unnecessary processes running in the background.
also the touchwiz launcher is a heavy one...might try a different one...

I was using Anono Rom v24 and I had to switch to another kernel to get it it to run smooth but the lag is there when you open apps. The same goes for Android Revolution. I've tried using Perseus and Boeffla but still laggy as hell.

Siyah kernel is good man, use that. As for lag reduction i suggest rootbox(light rom) or jellybam(good rom) or foxhound(good as well but heavy).
Then check on the cpu with cpu master app and try to play with tweaks until u get smooth android experience (thats what i did....dont forget to do nanadroid backups every once in a while...)

Thanks. I'll try your suggestions.

Install Better battery stats from Android Apps & games section. Enable watchdog in settings, then check out if any app is waking up during sleep!! On JB for me battery drain on sleep is quite low!
OK I'll try but if it doesn't work, I might change my ROM so which one do you recommend me for the s2?
