Yes, do a search. You will need to root your phone first.

Yep you'll need root and there's an app that does it. There is a thread around here some where that I used that shows what to do as well.
Edit: Here you go this should help.

1. root
2. download app "Galaxy S root" from market
3. go to "unlock SGS" tab and follow the steps... worked for me

And if you decide to upgrade to say any of the Custom roms under the dev section, after unlocking the phone, the phone will still be unlocked. I just flashed UnNamed last night/early this morning and mine was still unlocked. I am not sure if my efs folder got trashed, however, it is still unlocked and I have my efs folder saved on my server, phone and thumb drive lol.

Can't finish root process for official ICS

New member giant noob here.
Galaxy Note - Official ics 4.04 installed using Kies. I had rooted the phone prior to ICS but now need to re-root.
I did a flash of a program ending in tar through odin. This appeared to be successful. Now am supposed to flash super user. I downloaded the ics superuser but I need someone to give me a detailed step by step proces on completing the root.
It looks like other people are doing it, but I obviously don't know enough. Sorry, but I just don't understand technical references. Need the step by step program.
Thanks if anyone is willing to help
All Odin flashes is .tar files..So that was vague...but I'm guessing that was cwm recovery.
Superuser should be a .zip
Put that on your phone's internal sdcard, or external if you have one, doesn't matter which you choose.
Now power off the phone.
Hold all three buttons (both volume and power)
When you feel a vibrate, let go of just the power button.
When the recovery menu pops up, scroll to install zip from sdcard
If it's on external choose the option at the top, of its internal the option at the bottom well say "install zip from INTERNAL sdcard"
Scroll through the folders/files and find the superuser zip, then select that and confirm the installation.

Also, I think you need to go into Developer options/USB debugging and make sure that is selected, then try rooting.
Usb debugging is for adb while booted into android...
Has nothing to do with root, recovery, download mode, Any of that...it just makes adb be able to see the phone.
And please don't quote op's...

[GUIDE] ROOT Z Ultra C6802_14.3.A.0.757 Locked Bootloader

Images https://app.box.com/s/cokfa7rymgm12tg4220x
Download https://mega.co.nz/#F!UkpmUQBR!DiMSu1gYBpQXGiNiu0oRDg
Step 1: in folder "Buoc 1"
Flash 14.1.B.1.532 by flashtool. Start phone, turn on USB debugging (skip lost imei and signal then continue)
Root
Recovery
Recommend Backup TA
Step 2: in folder "Buoc 2"
Copy 3 file in folder "Buoc 2" to phone.
Reboot phone into Team Win. ( Press Power wait green led then press and hold "volume -" until red led release "volume -"
Wipe -> advance wipe -> tick dalvik cache, cache, data -> wipe
Install 3 file Rom, Recovery, SuperSU -> Do not reboot but go back to the main menu, then go to reboot->power off
Step 3: in folder "Buoc 3"
Copy file in folder "Buoc 3" into fimware of flashtool
Run fashtool flash file C6802_14.3.A.0.757_TW kernelonly.ftf.
Reboot phone
Finish
Another way better
You do Step 1 then reboot TWR flash c6802_14.3.A.0.757__flashable.zip --> power off phone --> flashtool flash C6802_14.3.A.0.757_Stripped.ftf --> finish
This is already more or less written about 5 times in the ZU section, but good on you for taking the time.
Change the 532 ftf for the one by [NUT] then you can make the first section simpiler as there will be no IMEI issues. See my downgrade thread for the download.
In second section put a warning about that the phone won't be in a bootable state at that piont

If I am already on rooted .290 can I just flash straight to 757?
Or do I need to go through the whole .532 downgrade drama again?
@blueether if you don't mind, could you write me up a very quick process to get from rooted .290 to rooted .757 on the C6806?
I'd really appreciate it.

i uninstall a program(google+)apparently unistall that when close titanim and open again see google+ and other program too...
in dxtoolbox apparently close program but programs are open
apparently disable startup programs but after restart open all program
in x-plore when delete a file from root/system apparently delete this but when close and open x-plore i see back delete file
in freedom say this error write permission on system partition are required in order to use freedom
Will this ftf file that has to be flashed using flash tool work for the 6806 flawlessly, because it is named for the 6802?
Don't want to lose lte or something.
Plus is this full root?

[GUIDE] Noob guide to access root on NC5 from NC5 OTA

Complete Noob Guide To Access Root on Android 4.4.2 (NC5)Helpful Guide by Reconde
This guide will thoroughly explain how to obtain root on Android 4.4.2 (NC5)
There is ONLY ONE FILE needed for the entire process, download it here: http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23501681358538076File provided by: @gigilie
Proceed after downloading and extracting the file above.
1. Navigate to /ODINv3.10 > Odin3 v3.10.0 and run it. In Odin, click on the AP slot and navigate to MK2_system_4downgrade_rooting_all_in_one and open it. Before going to the next step, you must put /safestrap flashable files-modules-quickupgrades-supersu onto your SD card, this is important. You will also need to download gogolies-wififix-VZW-retail-NC5-w-modules-SS.zip, and put it into the folder you just put onto your SD card.
2. Now, turn your Galaxy S4 completely off and boot it into Download Mode by turning it on and holding the volume up button at the same time. Once your phone is booted into Download Mode, plug it into your computer and press "Start" in Odin.
3. After the downgrade file has been flashed to your device, let it boot, set it up, and then go to Settings and enable Developer Options (this can be done by going to "About device" in settings, and clicking on "Build Number" several times until the phone says "Developer mode has been turned on"). Open developer options and enable USB debugging.
4. Back on your computer, navigate to the folder /apps-for-android-down-and-upgrades > /saferoot and run install.bat
5. After following instructions given by the command prompt, your phone should now be rooted. Now, transfer Safestrap-JFLTE-3.72-kk-B01 (found in /apps-for-android-down-and-upgrades) to your phone and install it. ***IF PLANNING ON INSTALLING A CUSTOM ROM IT MUST BE ON YOUR EXTERNAL SD CARD BEFORE THIS STEP. IF PLANNING ON KEEPING ROOTED STOCK ROM, VZW_NC5_PREROOTED-gogolie.zip(stock ROM- KNOX FREE) must be on SD card*** In safestrap, click install recovery, and when that is finished click Reboot to recovery.
6. In safestrap, go to Wipe > Advanced and wipe only dalvik and cache. After this, go to Install and install the custom, or stock, ROM of your choice (must be a 4.4.2 ROM) **IMPORTANT: ROM MUST BE INSTALLED ON STOCK SLOT** After installing the ROM you must flash jfltevzw-NC5-modules (found under /safestrap flashable files-modules-quickupgrades-supersu) and add to the queue gogolies-wififix-VZW-retail-NC5-w-modules-SS.zip AND UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.94. Now flash and wipe dalvik and cache again.
7. After installing your ROM correctly, reboot the phone into Download mode in safestrap by going to Reboot > Download. Now open Odin and insert NC5_4.42-ODIN_UPGRADE-FOR-4.3-NO-SYSTEM-NO-BOOTLOADERS-gogolie (found under /odin flashable files-modemhlos-bootimgs) into the AP slot and press start.
8. Reboot your phone into safestrap after Odin has finished. You must wipe dalvik and cache one last time and then flash jfltevzw-NC5-modules again and you are done! Your phone should now be rooted on NC5.
If you have any issues after completing the process, feel free to reply to this thread or send me a PM!
Special thanks to @gigilie for putting the files and other guide together. His thread can be found here.

Okay! First of all I would like to thank you for condensing this and making it bit more understandable. I'm usually really nervous about messing around with rooting (even though it's my second time), so simplified things like this really take the stress off.
the one question I had, is...
In step 7 you say to put "...open Odin and insert NC5_4.42-ODIN_UPGRADE-FOR-4.3-NO-SYSTEM-NO-BOOTLOADERS-gogolie."
Which slot in odin do I place it in? AP like before?

Wonderful! Thanks so much for the quick response and help with understanding all of this! I'll let you know how my root and custom ROM installation attempts go.
Update: I pulled it off and got my first custom ROM running as well! Might want to consider mentioning how to install the minor parts in step 6, after custom roms (like having to press the three dots and whatnot). that was the only place I had gotten tripped up. All in all, very effective tut. Thank you kindly.

Did you use this with installing hyperdrive? Since that ROM uses an aroma installer you have to click the three dots and click exit or it will automatically reboot. You don't have to do that with roms that don't use the aroma installer.

Oh! Yes I did. Sorry, I didn't know that hyperdrive installed differently than other roms. Good to know, though, and hopefully people who have similar problems can scroll down and find this, as it's probably not worth being in the OP, haha.
In @gigili orginal post, it says if you're on stock rooted 4.3 MK2 to start with step 3. I'm on stock, rooted 4.3 MK2 (I never take OTA update until I know I can root), so on your method do I start from the beginning, start from step 2, or from the middle of step 1 "Before going to the next step, you must put /safestrap flashable files-modules-quickupgrades-supersu onto your SD card, this is important. You will want to do the part in the middle of step 1, and then you can skip to step 3 and go from there.
I followed the original instructions to the end (which said to skip the rom flashing steps for stock ROM). I grabbed I545VRUFNC5-Stock-Root-Odex.zip and can't seem to get the flash to work. Is there a certain step I should go back to?
Does this procedure trip the Samsung Knox flag?
After step 7 got this error on reboot:
E:Error in /cache/recovery/sec_csc.zip (Status 7)
I'm not sure what I did wrong. Any help would be appreciated.

only problem with the above file josh is that KNOX is all over it still. yucky...
gogolie's NC5 Rooted/ KNOX FREE:
http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23329332407590564 is my version with no KNOX was released a little earlier than that other ROM and I didnt publicly put it out there as much as I maybe should have. with all 4.4.2 ROM's you need to flash SuperSu 1.94.zip file after installing ROM or you will probably lose root or not have binaries installed... so be sure and always flash that file after installing a ROM in Safestrap!
also I gave Reconde the okay to start this thread, its endorsed by me and I thank him for giving props and not just copying my stuff Thanks buddy. Sorry about not being the best with words... figuring out how things work is more my specialty. Users feel free to ask any questions in the main thread I will answer or respond still as soon as I'm able you can also keep up with current development for the 4.4.2 as well as ROM's and testing ROM's there in that thread. Thanks guys!

try the files i listed just before this post. they will be your answer. and sometimes you will get that no os error depending on what ROM and system your using its totally normal for instance my mk2 AOSP roms say that everytime yet they boot absolutely fine its just an error from Safestrap sometimes not reading the system folder correctly but has no outcome on the booting of the ROM. Ignore that error as long as you think you properly installed it.

[How-To] Update to G900T_OB1-5.0 and KeepRoot w/Knox(0x0)

**You can begin the following process from any Build/ROM but you must already have Root Access**
**Required** FlashFire - Play BETA - PREVIEW
1. Join the G+ community using the same Google account as you're using for Play on your phone/tablet Here.
2. Sign up to receive the BETA versions from Play Here.
- Use the link provided after sign-up to download the app.
**Caution!** The process below is only for the G900T T-Mobile S5 Variant. Use on any other device may result in a hardbrick!
Download:
- G900T_OB1_Stock_Rooted_ROM
- G900T_OB1_Stock_DeOdexed_ROM
Set screen timeout to 10 mins before beginning!
1. Place the ROM onto your device (use either internal or ext-sdcard).
2. Open the FlashFire app and "Agree" to the Terms and Conditions.
3. Press "(+)" twice to bring up the "Actions" menu.
4. Select "Flash Zip or OTA" and locate and select the ROM. Leave "Auto-mount" unchecked under the "Options" menu and press the checkmark to continue.
5. From the main menu Uncheck all options under "EverRoot" and use default "Reboot" setting.
6. Last, press the lightning bolt then "Ok" to begin the flash .
The screen will turn black then display the contents of your system before beginning the flash. FlashFire will pause for about 1 minute while flashing the "system" partition. Once complete your device will reboot and pause on the T-Mobile splash screen for about 1 -2 minutes (10 - 15 mins for the DeOdexed version) before completely rebooting. Done!
Tip: for blazing fast speed turn off animations from Developer Options and reboot!
Known Issues:
- None!
Optional - Enable Native Tethering:
- G900T_OB1_TetherAddOn (Flash using FlashFire's "Flash Zip or OTA" option).
Notes:
1. This process will not affect your knox warranty flag.
2. The above process will update your Modem, Non-hlos, System, Kernel, Stock Recovery, and Bootloader to OB1. No need to wipe prior to flashing!
3. If you are currently unrooted and on a non-"Towelroot-able" firmware version you must first a)downgrade to G900TUVU1ANE5 using Odin(perform a factory data reset from recovery after flashing), b)root using Towelroot, then continue with the above process.
Anyone confirmed this for the G900T with pictures and all? If it works, I'll give it an update to the compilation thread.

I just tried this and KNOX has not been tripped. Once my phone has completed the update I'll upload some screenshots.
EDIT:
I apologize for not providing links but I'm below the 10 post threshold.
Mods, I'm just trying to contribute but understand if you need to edit this.
Hope this is enough, if you'd like more please let me know.

Nice! Thanks for confirming!
Is there any way of flashing through Odin to go back to KitKat? Just being cautious. If this works great than thanks for all the hard work. Been waiting for this.

I just went back to KitKat today from stock G900T OTA update. I googled "downgrade galaxy s5 lollipop to kitkat" and the 1st option was a tutorial from AndroidCentral titled "TUTORIAL: Downgrade Samsung Galaxy S5 from 5.0 to 4.4 KitKat."
I successfully downgraded to 4.4.2 after 2 reboots and running "wipe data/factory reset". From there I followed the steps in OP for rooted 5.0 Lollipop.

I'm gonna have to give this a try and see how it goes. I just have to get mobile Odin first. Thanks for letting me know.

People previously attempted this method by using the inject SuperSU option in MobileOdin. The problem is MobileOdin uses SuperSU v1.94 which is incompatible with 5.0.
Users are now instructed in the OP to untick the inject SuperSU option. Instead the ROM is pre-rooted with SuperSU v2.46.
Worked flawlessly, thanks muniz!

no, erases nothing, just like a normal OTA update,
I should say thank you to the OP, it worked for me,
only trouble I had was with Mobile Odin- had to switch to Dalvik for it to work

I actually intended to include in the instructions to check "wipe data and cache" and "wipe dalvik." But I have not seen anyone report any issues that may stem from not doing so.
Thanks muniz_ri!!!
Work great. I didn't have to wipe cache or dalvik cache.
