no I received a message. So I pushed the power on and there was no respond.
So I pressed again the power button (screen is off but backlighting was on), I unlocked the phone (I guided by sound) and pressed power+ vol up (phone vibrate 3 times) and restarted.
I didn't press that red button under the hood.
And there was no sod with 475 !
Now I'm downloading latest 510 (Asia Pacific Edition)
I will flash this time trough Flashtool. Let's see maybe some changes will be in that APE.

I recently switched from LG G2x to this new HTC Amaze 4G.
I got tired of the bland O/S and decided to make a drastic change over to the O/S that is full of crazy bloatware.
Ok whatever I can deal with it....
In the first day that I bought the phone (2 weeks ago) I decided to check for updates. Surely enough, there were updates for HTC (NOT ANDROID) .... So I decided to update...
I updated the phone and everything seemed fine, seemed as if nothing has changed. A few hours later I started seeing my phone go sluggish, normally when this happens on any Android device I choose to just shut the phone down and turn it back on.
I long press the power button and nothing happens.
WTF?
I short press and it shuts my screen off.
I panic and take my phone back to T-Mobile the next day.
They gave me a new one.
So up until today, I have not updated because of my fear of having to factory reset on my phone.
(Like they did on the first one at the store)
Surely enough, my power button is GONE AGAIN!
WTF HTC!?!?!?!?!
I did backup my phone before updating.......
BUT CAN SOMEONE TELL ME HOW TO GET AROUND THIS PROBLEM WITHOUT HAVING TO RESTORE MY PHONE?????
Has anyone else had this problem!???
I am so frikin pissed!
first of all, is your phone completely stock? second, did you try a basic phone restart/battery pull?
Htc amaze doesnt support the long press to power down your phone.

us people are talking about those people whose power button options do not come up. good to know yours come up though.
That happened to me on a few ROMs. I used Extended Controls Widget and made a restart button. You have to remove the battery instead. You can also install NRG's ROM. I never had that anymore.

You are absolutely wrong about that. Long press is suppose to make a menu come up and ask whether you want to restart, shut down, or go into airplane mode.... Are you telling me that your power button does not do long press???? If so, then you probably are going through the same thing as me.
hi everyone!!
I´ve trying all day long to recover my cell phone, but everything i´ve done is useless, my droid is a verizon but i dont know which one, i bougth it flashed, my droid was activated with IUSACELL that´s a company from Mexico, it was activated in CDMA, but my son took it to play angry birds XD and later my cell phone start to ask me for a sim card, so i reseted to factory default setting and using the droidRAZRutility 1.6 made step one that´s Restore droid RAZR to 6.12.181 and then start running, so at the end the cellphone do not start up, just stay a few in tha M dualcore logo and then the screen just go black, im afraid that this procedure its just for gsm verizon or CDMA (i really dont know´) and that´s why i got bricked the razr, i´ve tried to use rds lite, factory wipe, cache wipe and nothing, the only thing that give some hope is that i can enter to the bootmenu.
If anyone knows what i´ve to do please help me i´ll really apreciated!!
Press and hold
Power + vol down + vol up
Release just power button when you see screen blink (kerp holding vols.)
If your razr do not start automatically in fastboot menu. Yet holding that vol keys press once power
Back to ur tutorial from there

Are you saying you tried the hold/release 5 times to no avail, or pushed them?
I had the same issue last week. I would hold all three, get the flash, then the moto boot screen, and that was it. What worked for me was holding power/vol down until the flash, releasing, the promptly pushing both vol keys at the same time. This finally got me to ap fastboot and I was able to get to business.

Ap fastboot flash mode (s) (Recipe Failure)
Are you trying to get back to GB rather than ICS?
Without knowing your phone model, it's going to be tough to get the right firmware put in. You may want to start downloading various types and see how they work with RSD.

Hi, sorry!
The forever is about ~15s holding the keys. Power + both vol.
This will make your Razr turn off. Then keep pressing both vol keys and press once power. This will drive to boot menu. Pick recovery and finish installing your rom from there.
You've probably a verizon razr. If your phone doesn't have a verizon logo in front of it, then you should first figure out what's your razr model to get the correct rom for it.
cheers
Lol We need a disaster recovery sticky

So... I bought my Xperia Tablet Z (16GB Wifi version) about a month and a half ago. Everything was fine till the 4.2.2 update came out... which as many other tablet users might agree, doesn't work for very well for tablets. (Centered back/home button etc)
So since I had already installed Cyanogenmod onto my HTC Sensation (with amazing success - first time the phone had been fast since I'd bought it nearly 2 years ago) I thought it would be best to try the same with my tablet.
So I quickly found out 4.2.2 can't be rooted - so I flashed back to 4.1.2 (10.1.C.0.370 - Japanese version) This was successful, and then I used Doomlords rooting kit to easily root the tablet. The problem I faced later on was that Cyanogenmod 10.2 would not install successfully onto my device in recovery mode... so I attempted to 'try out' some different recovery kernels to see if I could resolve the issue. However, after flashing one kernel my device became pretty much unresponsive... Won't be detected in the computer, won't show any sign of life when trying to charge. However, using the Volume Up and Power button I can get the single blinking light followed by the 3 blinking lights which shows some sign of life.
The question I'm trying to ask really is... Is there any way I can fix my device? - Sorry for the paragraph but I wanted to try give as much detail as possible. Any ideas would be much appreciated!
EDIT: Plugged in the device to charge (although it was at full battery when it stopped working) - Red light now appears. Is it possible the battery drained completely?
If your getting the white blinking light followed by the three white blinking lights its working theres just a problem somewhere and you can recover your tab with a little perseverance, have you tried sonys own flashtool Emma?

But You can actually root 4.2.2 stock on XTZ. And the fix you should try is using FlashTool , it should help you.

Thanks for the advice guys, but the tablet doesn't even show up when I plug it into the computer... which means flashing it is a bit of a problem :/
EDIT: Used the master reset, then plugged straight into computer while holding down volume down (to boot into flashmode) and the device came up!!! Good to know I didn't waste £400
2nd EDIT: Flashtool just aborts when trying to flash the device. When running Emma, I get the option 'apply service'. This downloaded an 800mb file, then took ages to install it onto the device. At 100%, it just came up 'Execute failed'. I'm trying again with Emma since flashtool certainly doesn't want to work :/ Something else you should know - Emma thinks I have the SGP312 (32GB version).
3rd and hopefully final EDIT: Emma worked the second time round! Not exactly sure why it failed the first time, but hey ho
Glad you got it sorted in the end

It's happened alot over past two weeks and it's now done it 3 times in past 2 1/2 days. Screen stays black press any button does nothing and hold down power still does nothing. Only way is to hold volume up and power for 3 vibrations then power back on its really annoying and must be due to some problem....?

am going thru this currently ... and i cant do anything to the device at all! urs might work after the restart ... i've done the power button/volume up restart that didnt help ... did the emergency reset using the red button also didnt work ... the phone is running in the background as i can still receive whatsapp msgs but i cant view them as am receiving "inititalbootsetup" isnt responding either close or wait ... and again both of these options arent working ..
Go to settings and disable auto brightness. I'm not sure why it works, but after researching for a while on this same issue, this is the setting that worked for me. Try it and update us if it works.
Sent from my C6833 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Did you guys update to 257 without wiping? I didn't wipe, but there might be some bugs sticking around from 532. Do a factory reset (full wipe if you have recovery) and see if that solves it.
any updates on this issue .the device screen simply doesnt wake-up from sleep ,unless you hard reboot .
i'm on 290 stock ,and testing the auto brightness disable method.
update : issue persists with auto-brightness disabled .
Hmm, it has to be a software bug. I can't see how this could be a hardware issue. Have you tried everything? Wiping? Re-flashing? Flashing a different ROM?
I did still get it on stock rooted rom. Twice in a day

Old topic but this just happen to me. Screen went black and couldn't get it back still heard noises from speaker when got message but couldn't get screen on I tried red button and volume up but never worked. I had to remove sim which forced a reboot. Never installed anything recently on rooted. 532. I've had nothing but issues regarding this phone. Regretting getting it thought sony would make a better product then this.

I have it just once though two days ago. Force reboot it by the button i almost gone mad when it's still not working, but somehow after a minute, it's normal again. I don't know why. But in case of yours, try to upgrade to the latest ROM first. That might fix it for you. No point for rooting if you can't fix the problem so let it go.

I have an htc one x. The phone is stuck in bootloop. It stays on the htc logo screen and does nothing. I would like to know how to turn the phone off alltogether. I have tried volume up + power button, volume up and down + power button and that will turn the phone off but seconds later comes back on by itself. I assume i will haveto flash a new rom to it in order to get it to come back on. The phone is rooted but not sure what rom or kernel is or was on it as i have done a factory reset on it. This all started righ after downloading an app?!!?!? Idk. Any advise on how to actually shut down the phone and what the proper way of fixing this this issue.
