Does any body has any idea how to auto receive email on corporate account without enabling sync. .. I was able to receive emails in Stock ICS. Now I'm on official stock JB but do not receive the emails when the sync is off... is there any workaround or any app to solve my problem... I would love to use the inbuilt email as it would consume Less memory than installing an app which would run in background

Im amazed it worked in ICS with sync off. If you want your email client to sync with your email server, you need sync on. Why are you turning sync off anyway?

If I turn sync off Gmail won't auto sync evertime and whenever I need I will sync ... but corporate mails are important and I feel they should come in automatically whenever sync is off... if I turn sync on it pulls battery continuously

Sync = sync. If you want to sync things, you need sync on. If your email client us using too much battery, change how it syncs (push etc)

Please as title states, which email app do you guys prefer, on the sg2, and why please. I want to be able to use gmail, so jus want to findout what you guys are using, to receive or send your gmail emails. I also want the option to schedule the sync, so your input very much required.
I use the stock Gmail app for my gmail. gmail isn't my primary account so not bothered by any failings, etc.
I use K9 for my main non-gmail personal account. Am very happy with it, can schedule timings and specify a quiet time, when I don't want to be distured by email notifications (i.e. when I'm asleep).

I use gmail and have set it (via the web app) to collect hotmail and another pop3 account, so it's perfect for me as I have all emails in 1 app, and I do like the gmail app!
K9 Mail Sync settings.

Apologies for the delayed reply.
I think it's as follows:
Menu --> More --> Settings --> Account Settings --> Fetching Mail:
"Folder Poll Frequency".
Also under the above and within --> Advanced:
"Refresh IDLE connection".
I "think" that's what you're after... to be honest mine has always just worked.
Hope it helps!
i like samsung's email app. Only thing i cant figure out is how to put it to push.
I tried the Samsung E-Mail app but it really pissed me off more and more. You can hardly make any settings, just specify how many mails to load (timeframe) and how often to update, that's about it. the funtionality and look are standard.
I switched to K9 mail again and instantly remembered why I always came back to that app. Not only does my Push work flawlessly for both accounts (one business, one private that collects) without any "premium" account hassle making use of that annoying social hub, but I can specify all sorts of settings like how much data to transfer by default per mail, to load images, and many many more.

to make push work you have to set your mail account as an imap account. to do so you need to make it a premium account which leads you to samsung collecting your mails via the social hub ... I'd recommend k9 mail. looks the same, and you can make almost any necessary setting.
The stock Gmail app does everything I could ask for
I switched to EnhancedEmail when I used to have a DHD as the stock email client didn't sync contacts and calendars probably.
Enhanced did all the syncing perfectly, however, it just did not allow Exchange accout contacts to be created or added (i dont really know if the stock email client had the same problem or not).
With the SGS2, i used EnhancedEmail first, but recently switched to the stock samsung email client - it seems to work flawlessly, albeit, with the limitations to customisations stated by others. I use Exchange (both my my company email and hotmail) on Push, and at that, it is good enough for my usage.

Plus the stock mail app draines more battery then k9 due to being more active or active in the wrong way I don't know, but there is a big difference, at least on my phone.
How do you make the Photon sync contacts with exchange on demand? I can do this with email.. but contacts do not update until some zen like interval. I end up rebooting the phone which syncs on boot up.
Thanks
Jeff
Mine sync straight away.

I set my sync to one hour intervals, not push. I find push drains the battery excessively.
I can force sync the email - just not contacts.
I'm having problems with the gmail account I have attached to the HTC Mail app. My regular gmail app ( connected to another account) Works perfectly fine. It has synced before but it seems intermitant and I know I have four messages in my inbox and It will not sync no matter what I try. Just wondering if theres a known issue with the HTC app.

I have had the same issues on stock GB and CleanROM ICS 4.3 - no matter what ROM I use, HTC/Sense mail stops syncing.
I've moved on to K9 mail. Works perfectly.

Why do you have the Gmail set up there? You can add a second Gmail account to the actual Gmail application. That might be more reliable for you.
I'm using an Exchange account with the HTC Mail app and haven't had any syncing issues at all.
You can try clearing the application data in Settings and setting it up again, if you prefer the HTC app.

I believe that setting up GMail in the HTC mail app is part of the set up process. I am not sure you can actually avoid it, although I have never tried. Also, the UI for the mail app is nicer in some respects than the GMail app.
Exchange does work well, but there are definitely issues with webmail and the mail app.
In the past, I tried clearing data for the for gmail on the mail app, and I think HTC mail won't allow it since gmail has to be a primary account.
Having gone through all this is what made me suggest the K-9 mail app. Just turn off notifications for the other gmail mail accounts.

You can definitely skip setting up GMail in the HTC app. Just skip the entire setup and then sign in to the Gmail app directly. But I know what you mean, the HTC app has some aesthetics I enjoy more than the GMail app.
And you should be able to clear the data on that HTC app. It's totally independent of the Gmail app. At least, I've never had an issue with clearing data from it and it didn't affect Gmail in anyway.
Hopefully the OP can chime in on the results.

Yes, it's a known bug. The Android Task killer, kills off the HTC Mail app after a while. It was listed as a fix in the changelog for the January OTA update. It seemed to get a lot better, but its still not perfect.
I also agree, you should just use GMail app for all your GMail accounts. It's push so no random checking.
Also, I believe the Task killer is overly aggressive in general. After my phone has been running for about a day or so, my Facebook widget stops updating. I have to reboot the phone, then it starts updating for a day or so then stops again. Same with my HTC Mail app that checks my personal mail account via POP.
Hi, I'm having an issue with gmail autosync. My contacts synced perfectly but my gmail needs to be forced to sync my mails to my two accounts. Autosync and background sync are bothers enabled and I have enabled gmail sync in settings. This was thesame with stock and rooted Rom.
Anyone else have thesame issue?
Thanks

Is there a way turn this off, can some one please help
How are you receiving SMS in your email?
Are you using an exchange account? If so, that's a new feature of exchange server 2010. You can go to your accounts in settings, select the corporate activsync one then uncheck the sms sync.
It's in the same place where you check or uncheck syncfor email, calendar, tasks, etc...
