How do you make the Photon sync contacts with exchange on demand? I can do this with email.. but contacts do not update until some zen like interval. I end up rebooting the phone which syncs on boot up.
Thanks
Jeff
Mine sync straight away.

I set my sync to one hour intervals, not push. I find push drains the battery excessively.
I can force sync the email - just not contacts.

Is gmail push mail? I know my hotmail account which is setup on the email app is.
But when I send a mail to both accounts, the hotmail one always arrives before and the gmail one waits until auto sync.
Im no expert on this, so any clarification would be appreciated.
Yes It has push mail. Just mark auto sync from accounts and sync. But there is a problem when using it in wi-fi connection. You can fix it like this way:

How do I force a sync for contacts (Exchange)
Yes, I know how to do email sync, but I can find no way of doing this with contacts. It seems like they sync at some predetermined interval.
I add a contact in exchange on my PC, then if I want to see it immediately (like I'm driving to a client and setting the GPS) I have to reboot the friggen phone to make it available..
My EVO did this easily.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

You can always force sync through the “Accounts and sync” settings page.
Click Settings
Click Accounts and sync
Click on your corporate/exchange account
Click Sync now
Or you can use something like the free app "Synker", a sync widget, to create a widget that allows you to force sync specific accounts regardless of the current auto-sync setting.
You can also use the power control widget, Widgetsoid, etc… to “toggle” the global Android auto-sync setting off/on, which effectively will cause a force sync.
I never even realized that I can setup my Gmail address as an Exchange account so that it can be pushed to my native email client, until I tried setting it up that way last night.
My question is, is this a more battery efficient way of setting up mail? I used to setup my Gmail as an IMAP account that is set to check every 15 minutes- so which is a better method?
Thanks in advance...
Pretty sure the Gmail app uses push anyway.

Yup the thing is I have two other Gmail addresses that I setup on the native email client, and set it up now as Exchange so it can be push via IMAP checking mail every 15 minutes...
I have battery drain issues and was hoping someone can confirm if Push is better for battery?
Push is better for battery life than I map checking every 15 minutes. The phone only does anything with push when an email is pushed to it. It doesn't so any checking itself. I have six accounts set up on my Gmail app

Does any body has any idea how to auto receive email on corporate account without enabling sync. .. I was able to receive emails in Stock ICS. Now I'm on official stock JB but do not receive the emails when the sync is off... is there any workaround or any app to solve my problem... I would love to use the inbuilt email as it would consume Less memory than installing an app which would run in background

Im amazed it worked in ICS with sync off. If you want your email client to sync with your email server, you need sync on. Why are you turning sync off anyway?

If I turn sync off Gmail won't auto sync evertime and whenever I need I will sync ... but corporate mails are important and I feel they should come in automatically whenever sync is off... if I turn sync on it pulls battery continuously

Sync = sync. If you want to sync things, you need sync on. If your email client us using too much battery, change how it syncs (push etc)

Hi,
I have set up a Microsoft Exchange account in the standard E-Mail app on my Galaxy S4 4.3 (Google Edition Jamal v2 final). Sync is on and E-Mails, Calendar and Contacts are checked for syncing.
As long as I am not traveling I have set up the "Inbox check frequency" to "never". This normally prevents the E-Mail app from synching my E-Mails.
But at random times it suddenly just starts to sync my E-Mails. It is like 1 or 2 times per day. I can not find out what exactly leads the app to sync my E-Mails although I have set the frequency to never, but it happens mainly during usage.
I experienced the same bug with my Galaxy Nexus, which I had before.
Note: When I open the E-Mail app manually it syncs the E-Mails just as it should.
Does anyone have experienced the same bug?
Felix
