I will think about helping, I really want to let the development live again but I my phone is very important.
You will hear from me
Great idea! I will try to do my best and help a little bit.
What i can do: testing, maybe some other developing things if i get a introduction
Internetspeed: 16k
Time i can spend in development: around 1 hour a day during the week on weekends more ( i just started to work and study so sometimes, i have more or less time)
Sent from my HTC Desire X using xda app-developers app
1. I know some c and c++. Debugging, well to be honest, never done it, but i would like to try.
2. 24 Mbps /1 Mbps
3. Few hours every day, only when i work or am studying for exams
Sent from my precious!! HTC DX
I'll test ICS Roms, as soon as we get s2w Kernel then i'll test JB roms aswell. I'll also have a crack at theming if someone points me in the right direction with it
Update OP with Sections for testers, developers, etc. so people can be contacted if they need summat testing or whatever
The thing is that i am not trying to build a new kernel, i am just learning how things work..from scratch. i know i wont be able to get it all, but the more the better
Sent from my precious!! HTC DX
First i think we should make a facebook group or an irc chat,it's much faster to discuss then to use a forum or a personal message.
1. Testing, debugging, graphics, and if anyone is willing to teach me building roms and porting. I have a good knowledge about linux distros and i don't have bad pc for compiling. I spend great amount of time on the pc so and irc.
2. I have 10/1.
3. All the time when i am not in school.
Well, this week I don't have time, but after that I'd love to help out with development. My internet is pretty good (20mB down/5mB up). I have a couple of hours per day.
Don't have the technical skill in terms of coding but as an IT student and PC technician I am experienced with Android and PCs.
1. Testing and anything else basic (I only know VB and ASP.net languages)
2. 1mb only
3. A lot of time outside of exams
Well, I don't have a time...
But I can set virtualbox with ubuntu on my desktop for some good dev,
Proc : AMD PHENOM II X4 965
Network:
Also, as mentioned before...
we got an irc channel on freenode/#protou
Noone here..

Good,
Guys we need developers on IRC channel, that way we can do something fast as group.
Logs of channel: http://tsun.pl/xda/protou/
Users on (for now):

1. Everything you can teach me
2. It should be 50MB/s (but I always end up with 15MB\s)
3. It varies, but enough to do something here and there
I'd like to help too, I know a little of Java, but about debugging my knowledge is too low.
I have about two free hours more or less per day.
I have 50MB of ADSL (about 50000 download/5000 upload) too.
Good idea guys, unity is the best approach to success!!
After the exams I'll be free.(After 30th)
Internet speed is 4-5 mb/s(down) 1-3 mb/s(up)

I'm in!
I can contribute with testing , debugging , logcatting etc . Plenty of experience from when I had a Galaxy Mini 2 which was in a development stage worse than the DX . (and now it's got a fully working CM10.1 XD) as well as some programming help - I know Android app development , I know a good load of C / C++ , C# , I can read and tweak Java code . I know the Android workflow pretty well , and I'm also an algorythmic whizz if that would ever be of help xD
Internet speed : about 6MB/s down & 2MB/s up .
Availability : I can go all out this week . Starting next week though I'm starting hi-school , but I can still dedicate about 6h / day to the development nonetheless .
Also , a littbe bit of OT (kinda) : I'm planning to get myself a new laptop soon and will dualboot Ubuntu w/ Windows on it , thus I also wanna start learning the linux kernel (only for Android development atm) . If anyone can point me to some baby steps to get me started on that , I would be grateful . I'm not a newb , I learn pretty fast considering I have about 4 years of programming experience . I just need to have a starting point and good documentation along the way

I saw some moron demanding that ppl work on getting Android to work on Raphael..... what a dumbass..... and I clicked a few links deep from the Wiki mentioned and found this thread:
http://www.htc-android.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=237
It was very easy installation, and I am now running Android, have some fun testing for the developers now....
Recommend U all try it!
would you mind posting some screenshots? and if i want to flash it back to WinMo, will there be any problem?

You don't flash your device with it. You essential launch it from file explorer and phone boots into it. A soft reset brings you back to WM.

thx for the quick reply, guess i'll giv it a shot...
You can also press and hold the end call button, and you can choose 'Power Off' but I still end up having to soft-reset, many things are not working, but i'm sure that will all get worked out at some point, wish i could do more for the project than just installing it lol
Mirror Needed.
Can you upload the files needed.
I tried downloading from the site that you posted but I am unable to do so.
Thanks,
This one worked for me, I hit a broken link also
http://connect-utb.com/index.php?op...6:android-for-htc-touch-pro-raph100&Itemid=68
Can mirror if it still doesn't work
Here is a more precise link to install instructions, and a download link:
http://connect-utb.com/index.php?op...id=68&id=16:android-for-htc-touch-pro-raph100
Seems there are multiple builds for Raph100 and Raph800, dont know the difference, here is the global link with download links:
The one at the top is the newest for Raph100, and the one I installed

Thank you.
Thanks for the download links. Downloading now...will give it a whirl

All the info you need. It covers working on Diamond and Raphael, thats the main page for the project.
Oh and the stuff posted on utb.com is outdated.
And there is a page in the xda wiki just search for Raphael Linux.

Can you point us all to a current build that's this easy to install?
very nice work. looking forward to future developments!
The RAPH100 is the GSM version, the RAPH800 is the CDMA version.
The link in my signature guides you to the thread where this is being developed. It's been a bit silent lately though.
I actually Gave this a Whirl and pretty Impressive... SMS was even Working. Camera doesn't Fuction and Ask for a Storage card to be inserted which is Weird cause ur reading the OS from the card lol.... Good find though...
I hope android will be fully ported on raphael soon
unfortunately for now it isn't for everyday use

This isn't ready for prime time yet. There is a lot of hardware support missing as I write this (e.g. no suspending or powering off, no Bluetooth, WiFi, or anything but plain GSM [GPRS, 3G, etc], no accelerometer, no sound [and no sound I/O in calls, so you can't hear or be heard], no cameras, et cetera).
The lion's share of the problems aren't with Android, they're with providing Linux device drivers for all of the machine's hardware. Android itself seems to work just fine with what devices the Linux kernel gives it!
But in the hopes that this may spark some more creative interest from kernel hackers (*) (as opposed to such comments as 'but why wasn't it ready twenty years ago?'), here are some rough (and fuzzy) screenshots from my Touch Pro:

}
The last two are from the Dev Tool's console application, showing the contents of /proc/cpuinfo (partial) and /proc/interrupts.
(*) I'd love to get involved myself, but my kernel hacking experience is in bigger, heavier devices with fewer radios. (but I'm looking around the kernel sources regardless).

Thanks. I'm not much of an IRC user, though this is A Good Cause. I've checked out the kernel source and had a look through some interesting bits. Went through the memory maps etc on the wiki and realised just what brave souls you guys are (some of this stuff is truly obtuse — but I know the rewards when you finally manage to get some bizarre device working). Having a look at the basics of ARM Assembly now (never had much reason to use it before). I generally have very little free time, but I obsess easily, and I'd really like to have something other than Windows on my Raphael.
(plus, logging into my phone via ssh amuses me — haven't been this amused since the Zaurus)
Hi!
android now have the times tested (Raph100), is a beautiful thing. Will not single network connection. Neither wireless nor USB 3G yet.
Why is this and how can I set up?

I am more thankful to Max Krivonos, and Keyan Mobli (Scepterr/kmobs), Max is probably gonna be the maintainer for the Amaze for CM9 and is currently the maintainer for the MT4GS, kmobs is the maintainer of the Sensation for CM9 and has it to a point where he's said "So I'm now using ICS as my daily driver"... There is hope, but if you're looking for CM7/9 or any REAL AOSP build, don't expect xboarder to deliver that, I don't think he compiles anything, he's a themer/kanger/(insert less offensive term here). There is hope, but I'm dying to see some actual AOSP builds, GB or ICS.

If you can in a couple words, is the difficulty due to an equivilent of incompatible hardware, whatever the equivalent of a driver is, or the way the software operates in the system? It's obviously not like upgrading windows xp to windows 7
Just curious

By all means, if you want to use this to slam me, sure, this deserves credit, the reason I even said what I said was because nobody here has shown anything that was actually compiled with the exception of faux123, There are no real large improvements done by throwing an HTC Kernel, and a HTC base into a rom, this IS the kind of development I hadn't seen from you. Thus far (with this as the obvious excpetion) all the rom's that have been posted were effectively OEM based rom mashups. I am very impressed, and by all means, keep up the good work on a clean, from scratch rom. (I've seen pretty scary rom "developers" in the past, and I'm cautious at best with most of the developers for this device, and this thread has at least to some degree proved me wrong)
*edit, you should seriously consider contacting Max Krivonos, as he is the maintainer of the MT4G-Slide, and/or kmobs, obviously there are alot of framework differences with ICS, but they could probably be very useful in getting this working 100%.

Just saying it might be useful to use whatever help is available, by no means was I implying that it simply couldn't be done without them, it wasn't a challenge or anything, lol. I'm just saying it would be useful for some of the things (like the camera, etc).

Regardless of what other people think or say, you have been working on this phone since it came out, and doing a great job. Keep it going, and screw anyone who says you can't do it.
Watching your world from my own with my HTC Amaze
Hi people, let's try an istructive game.
Try to tell each other our experience with the Android world, how we arrived to the point we are and what we can do now. I try to explain better.
What do you have to write:
How much time ago did you arrive to Android?
What did you know then about information technology and programming?
How did you start to learn more? Was it difficult?
At which point are you now? Are you a simple user, a rooted user/superuser, a cooker, a porter, a themer, a modder or... a developer?
What's your position in the Android world for you now? Is it a hobby, a passion or a job?
What do you like most your knowledge about Android? Money, importance in your device section, freedom, or knowledge itself?
What do you still want to learn and know?
If you want, you can give us the links to your ROMs, applications and portings.
Everithing else I forget.
For example, I consider myself a rooted user and a bad porter, and until now I just ported and cooked a ROM. I'm here because an year ago I wanted a tablet. Then a lot of people used to buy an iPad, but casually (neither do I remember why, but I believe it was a good choice) I bought a Galaxy Tab, the old P1000 from Samsung. Then I casually (again) read in a computer magazine something about rooting and ROMs to better Android devices, and then, with a lot of fear, I started to learn something about it. I only knew (and know now) something about Visual Basic, HTML, CSS and PHP, but as developer I've always been terrible. Now I want to learn something about Java and start building my own applications.
I believe with this surveys less experienced people could be helped to know what they have to do to quicken their developing climbing!
For example, I would like to learn something from Chainfire...
I entered the android world on may 2012 with my brand new Sony live with walkman... World could have been no better .. Then someday I ran into rooting tutorials ... Consoling my heart and out of curiosity , I decided to give it a go .. ( I feared about bricking my device because I got it after a lot of innocent request from parents when I passed 10th grade ( March 2012 )
.. And guess what ? I received a Bootloop while flashing my first custom ROM ( CYANOGEN ) ... The fear had turned into a heinous monster which I dreaded the most ...
And now .. I believe I've plenty knowledge of the android but still there is much more to learn ... I can root / flash / ... debug most roms... Program.. ( java/c++ have been a cakewalk for me , no. Flattery)..Yes android has become my passion..... I'm currently working on cooking my own custom ROM... Hmm.... Geek at work ..

I bought my first Android phone 4 months ago... Knew nothing about it... And i know no languages(java, etc)... About 15 days later while searching for some cool app to showoff i read somewhere "for rooted devices only" So i searched about root and then more and more... I got devil inside me awakened and searched for how to do all of it on my phone... and next day i rooted my phone but when restated after flashing cwm recovery i got a boot loop... I was so in danger... Posted for help on all fourms which were about android including xda... Then waited (not even 3hours lol) but no reply so started to mess around and luckily flashed stock rom... Then rooted again but no cwm... after few days i saw an email from xda about a reply on my post... i was so overconfident (in reality knew nothing what xda is) that posted a Warez on xda for which i got an infraction... Then around 2.5 months ago first rom for galaxy ace plus by teamcooper was out and fixed cwm... 2 months ago i saw a guide to make ROM... And now i am only one who cooks roms for galaxy ace plus and is active on this device... i made 3 different rom for galaxy ace plus and currently working on a ics theme and want to learn developing app and more... i don't think i am a developer, i am still a noob... Till i become a recognised cintributer... I Will apply for it when i get rid of infarction...
EDIT: can you tell me about some good guide to make an app... Not those which are too basic like making hello apps... I want to make an app with root permission i have few ideas of apps i want to make...
Officially, I arrived to the Android World in June 2011, but months ago I already knew about Android (several friends have Android devices).
In this moment, I have basic knowledge about C/C++, Java and Lua programming (need help? send me a PM ). For me learn more was relatively easy, since I already knew programming when I purchased my device. The thing was: Apply the knowledge to the Android world.
Actually I'm a rooted user and a development learner. I have few time ( the University...) so I consider myself as an "ocasional developer". Android for me (as other platforms) is more than a hobby, but less than a passion. I can say that I program apps... for me. I'm very glad to see my apps running in my device (and others... xD), but I don't expect earn money for it (very basic apps and widgets, but useful for me... nothing interesting).
I still have much to learn, right now I wish to learn OpenGL, to take full advantage of the hardware acceleration (Braid, Mario, Megaman, Space Invaders? Yeah ).
One of my works, a widget to easily and quickly change between several CPU governors or CPU Frequencies (need root, of course). Looks ugly, but it's very useful for me

What are you trying to do? Get root access is very simple (easy way: Runtime.getRuntime().exec ("su"). If you wish to run more shell commands as root, use RootTools instead)
I've entered android world at the beginning of this year with my Sony Xperia Play (bought it because of game functionalities). And then it started... I was amazed with all, that android can offer. I wanted to be a part of this, so I started to learn java. Right now, I'm at the stage of writing my first apps. This basically takes most of my free time after regular job. Hoping, that my hobby will be growing and maybe will become the way of living.
Howdy.
I'm back to Android development (as mentioned on Twitter).
Let this thread be here, while I work on something that is worth showing you.
Do I care for the fact that Samsung wants to release 4.1 by themselves? Nope.
I'm sick of running stock 2.3 firmware. It's virtually unusable.
Now enlighten me where I can get original digitizer for Ace 2. Let's say I have a defected unit.
Glass cracked just from putting it on the table (gently)... And then 5 days later again, after doing the same thing.
Might catch me here often: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/coding-rant
This is a part of Sakura AOSP Project.

While Android is opensource, not everything needs to be opensource. If a company doesn't want to publisch the board-support-package, they don't have to. At that point, you have to write this bsp yourself.... Which can only be done by reseverse engineering. A company like ST Ericsson develops a chipset. A team of more then 10 people is then involved to port Android to this chipset. They look for clients and to every client they dedicate a special team that helps the client (Samsung in this case, but also Sony) to adopt this port to their needs and their platform. The client then ports their layer (Touchwiz for Samsung) to the new platfrom. So you're looking at maybee 30 people involved to get Android up, running and bug-free on a one specific phone..... People who get payed to do this at work. People who will get paid extra time if needed. People who do this as a day job.
Now, let's get back to XDA. We're looking here at one to two active developers who do the porting in their spare time. They are not getting paid for it. They just do it for the trill, so let's stop asking them for timelines or updates. Let's keep it a fun thing for them to do. If not.... Wel... if it's not fun anymore for them to share their work.... they will simple stop sharing and they have all the rights in the world to stop sharing!
bangz0r, keep up the good work

I'd rather use Windows as my desktop OS at home rather than garbage such as Ubuntu. By far, Ubuntu is the worst Linux distribution after openSUSE and Mandriva.
Well, I have a dedicated server set-up remotely that's running Debian 6.
Like I said, I'd build on my Mac but MacPorts isn't cooperating.
http://f.o323.com/23U8 (huge image)
Did try to build with standard setup on Mac, didn't work well. Spit out dozens of issues.
That's sort of bad because building is really fast on i7. :/
EDIT:
If it's really worth any trouble and this thing really fires up as intended, then I will set a git repo up.
...If it's not, I'll dispose of this phone and get Xperia S.
Good luck mate, I hope it works.. Would be a great step for our phone
Yeah good luck! I hope it Will boot
And of course thanks for your work.

Should thank to marcin1147 too. He's great help.
Watch my stream daily guys, I like to show thinks I'm working on and perhaps talk opinions.
EDIT:
Hell, if it doesn't boot - one good thing there is to Samsung is that their devices are unbrickable.

Haha true !
This is getting ugly. 10:14 AM and still building.
bagnz0r, you are back ! ? !
I thought that you left Android for good (according to your twitter some time ago) and moved to iPhore or Nookia or something like that.
I bought ACE 2 just because you did it. If JB for I8160 will be the same quality like ICS for Galaxy ACE, then we are saved.
bagnz0r, marcin1147 and Maclaw in the team ... oh ... it is gonna be zajebiście !

A Intel Atom 330 1.6 GHz (dual-core; ht) is pretty weak
Regarding broken digitalizer:
http://www.aliexpress.com/wholesale/wholesale-for-samsung-galaxy-ace-2-i8160-digitizer.html
This site is chinese, but they are trustworthy. They never charge you with shipping cost and they always know how to "fix" the problem with taxes, fees 'n stuff.
You can always buy digitalizer from here:
http://allegro.pl/dotyk-szybka-digitizer-sam-i8160-galaxy-ace-2-wym-i2748472924.html
If you will change it youself, can you make some photos from opened I8160. I would like to see what kind of Proximity sensor they've put in Ace2. I think there is light sensor inside, but i just want to be 100% sure. Also it will be helpfull for DYI purposes.

Testers Needed for closed testing until semi stable build is ready for a public release
Hello fellow XDA'ers
The links will not publicly be posted yet, as of right now this thread is here in general because this will be closed alpha/beta testing.
Prerequisites:
1. To be a tester you NEED to have a Verizon HTC One Max (Also known as t6vzw)
2. You need to PM (Private Message) me here at XDA and let me know you want to get down!
3. Not necessary but this would honestly be a massive help so I'm not just PM'ing everyone under the sun links and defeating the purpose of a closed testing crew, but PLEASE have some decent knowledge of Android, have the SDK set up and ADB and Fastboot functioning in case of force closes, boot loops etc, that way you can pull some log cats for me and also be able to save your own @$$ if something goes wrong and I'm unavailable...
4. Being able to contribute to the builds would be a BIG plus as well
5. This is a MUST as well, having time to communicate with me when I need ya or vice versa!
Info: Flyhalf and I have been tossing ideas and as you all have seen he got Kit Kat booting for us so we have decided to take the Google Play Edition route for the time being until kernel source is released and from that point I'll just let Fly handle the rest from there since he is the AOSP genius. These ports will be builds that I'm personally working on myself. Fly has a few going on as well and if he decides to posts his is completely up to him! Any questions comments or debugging in this thread will be solely for what I'm personally providing to the tester group and nothing else.
Responsibility Oath
I am NOT responsible for your device. When agreeing to be a tester for a non-stable alpha/beta testing build it is absolutely possible for an issue to arise which could possibly render a device unusable or require a boat load of time and expertise to recover a device back to working order. By you agreeing to test you are agreeing to these possibilities and are fully aware and acknowledge these possibilities and accept full responsibility for your own device. I have no issues helping the fellow community out with any problems but DO NOT guarantee anything except for my wisdom and time when I have the time to do so. With that being said, if you feel you fall under these guidelines then feel free to contact me when you are ready to get to work!
Reserved...............
Thanks for a couple of testers. Here is 1 photo back.

hey if you want someone to port to t6ul and test, i can do that for you if you want
I posted in another thread I can test this if needed (or the cm or sense 4.4). I have another phone to use (and a second Verizon One Max) if I need to hack this one up and leave it from day to day. Also Im a microsoft guy living day to day as a linux admin so have decent enough knowledge to be dangerous.
