Dear all,
I am one of the people that updated my phone to version .510 by changing the Build.prop. because my phone was bought from HK and it seemed like the update for HK version was taking forever.
However, a new FW came out yesterday for the HK version.
For everyone that changed their build.prop, I'm sure you have a lot of questions in your mind.
Well actually its quite simple to go back to the HK build.prop
1. Just root your phone again using vRoot.
2. Edit the build.prop files with HK values (1276-0361 and R5A)
and your back to your original build.prop
Plug your phone in and the update will appear.
Updating my phone now! good luck guys!

Dear all,
I like many other people that have the HK version of the c6802 rooted their phone and changed the build prop.
Now it seems like the update of the HK version is out.
I wish to return my build.prop to the HK version.
Will I encounter any problems?
Will the phone not get confused why its build.prop is HK but its version is Taiwan?
I also noticed that after I updated after changing the build.prop values, the values changed after updating.
So yeah what would be the best way to get back to HK build.prop

Basically your phone is not an HK, To or any other country phone. The region is determinate by the firmware installed inside. And from all versions I tried, the only difference is on the bloatware.
Your phone will not get confuse, because the phone itself do not care about where he is from. He only use the firmware he have on, the change on the build.prop only affect the update center.
Best way would be to flashtool with the HK firmware as it wipe all data, so make a factory reset.

Well I have hk version phone,I change build.prop to Taiwan and get latest firmware via pc center then on latest firmware I again change build.prop to Hk and all is set when new Hk firmware will be released I will get update via ota or pc center....

I rooted at 475 and changed my HK build.prop to Vietnam. Received 510 from Sony PC Companion - which I assume unroots the phone. What's the easiest way to get back to a HK build.prop so I can get 526? I assume I don't have root now and therefore can't edit the file....

Look on the same forum where you made your thread. You can dl it on the forum then flash it using flashtool or if you are rooted can modify your build.prop to HK or TW CDA then update from pcc. Via pcc you don't loose your date, via flashtool you loose your data.

Here is more easy Tool for decrypting.
Regards
Bin4ry
Usage:
SEUSDECRYPT.BAT FILE_XXXXXXXX -> That gives you a FILE_XXXXXX.tgz -> Unzip -> Then Untar the File which comes out
If you SEUSDECRYPT the small 64kb File you get directly the loader.sin no need to unzip and untar
All I have is the firmware files right now. I can't get seus or pc companion to work long enough to create the files to decrypt.
Will the decrypter allow me to skip that step?

It looks like the latest X10i for anything close to a generic Australia FW would be the UK Generic X10i Firmware (R2BA020).
Though we're all up to R2BA026 now.
Will I be able to update UK Generic X10i Firmware (R2BA020) afterwards?
Thanks heaps.

Make sure you're connected to your wifi as the update will be 150mb or so.
Alternatively, you can download Sony Ericsson update Service SEUS and update it that way.
If there is no update available on your carrier then you should probably try debranding - although I'm not sure if it voids the warranty of the phone in your country.
Got a stupid question here What is debranding?

Debranding is basically giving you a generic device rather than for example being on Orange, in which they have put apps on that they want, ( in my case it was traffic tv).
If you have a branded phone then you do not get updates as fast as a generic one

On the old phone, the speaker stopped working meaning I would have to either put my phone on speaker or use a headset. Not really a big issue except that im military and alot of the time I can't wear a Bluetooth and its impractical to have it on speaker.
The new phone is
2.1-update 1-fw
2.1.65-bbq'd
2.6.29 kernal
2.1.A.0.492 build
One of the major things that I notice is the at&t bootscreen on the new one and the se bootscreen on the old

This link will get you to the 1.6 At&t file for your old phone. You will have to create a FTF and flash w/ flashtool. If you want to get to 2.1 afterwards on your old phone, just update with pc companion but you don't have to do that since you are returning it.
