What kernel does: cyanogenmod need? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

What kernel does: cyanogenmod need?
I'm currently using the:Siyah-s2-v5.0b2 kernel,
and, I'm using the SuperNexus 3.0 Rom.
Here are few problems I have been encountered:
1, The sound is very low, even at max level of volume.
2, The font, the screen changes t weird look after rotating while texting.
3, The photo issue, jepg thru USB transfer wont show,
So, I downloaded one of the cyanogenmod for i777, thru the cyanogenmod website,
Someone, after I flashed the rom, the home button, and AOSP key don't work, and it keeps saying AOSP not responding...
I'm wondering what kernel does cyanogenmod use.
Can you recommend any stable rooms with its working kernels..
Thanks

Use AJK 4.6 THE BOSS (based on Siyah) with Cyanogenmod. Make sure it is the AOSP version.

-Cyanogenmod doesn't NEED a kernel at all, it flashes with its own, but it runs smoother with the AJK kernel listed above.
-you lost the home button and a few others? Flashing the incorrect GApps can cause this. 4.2 GApps are different than 4.3 GApps
-a STABLE 4.3 rom? aren't they all in nightly/beta stages? good luck with stability this early in the 4.3 game.
CM 10.1.3 RC2
I777UCMD8
AJK 4.7 (until a newer one shows up)

[Q] Bootloop with perseus kernel [SOLVED]

Hi guys,
I am newbie, my S3 i9300 is using temasek 10.1 rom and his amazing lastest kernel. About batterylife saving, I am trying to find out the ASV version of my S3 to get right value for stweak app by flashing perseus kernel together with flashing unchecksetonboot.zip as manual but I faced the bootloop, my S3 could not started. I have tried the ways (only flash perseus kernel (36.3) or flash perseus kernel together with flashing unchecksetonboot.zip) but it was not booted. I do not know how to solve this.
I could not post my question in Temasek's thread because i am newbie. Is there someone else like me and any help for me, please!
I hope Temasek can see my question.
Thanks a lot!

TL;DR: before flashing aside from known issues in the second post.
This isn't an AOSP kernel. I won't work with CM and AOSP derivatives.
DOESN'T WORK ON SAMSUNG JELLYBEAN 4.2.1 ROMS.

I have read this but till do not know why, I do know that temasek's rom is an CM derivative. Perseus kernel is not AOSP kernel. So could you guys teach me what ROM (AOKP rom but not CM) I have to flash to be compatible with perseus kernel? i am confused
Sorry for my BAD.

All Samsung (or Sammy) derivatives that means all Rom with XX... in its name, MC3, etc. And 4.1.x only. See thread's titles it's written there.

You open my mind! I am too stupid to think that Sammy ROM derivatives is AOSP, My BAD.
Even I do not really understand about AOSP ROM because of this words " The name is often co-opted for custom ROMs that are very close to the original AOSP, from What's the difference between an AOSP ROM and a stock ROM?"
But as you teach me, I will chose a Sammy ROM derivatives without the AOSP note in ROM.
Iam downloading a [ROM][MC3][JKAY] Purelook HD v5.0 I SGS 4 + Xperia Z ROM. Hope it works.
I will try to improve my self step by step.
Thank you! :highfive:

There are 2 main kind of roms - based on samsung sources and based on aosp sources (cyanogenmod). They're not compatible with each other, that means kernels, mods, themes etc.
Most AOSP Roms have 4.2.2 Android while Sammy have 4.1.2.

[Q] Random Crashes with CyanogenMod 10.1.3 Stable

Hey All,
I've been having random crashes with CyanogenMod 10.1.3 stable release for a long while now. I'm going to do a factory reset soon, hoping this will solve the problems. Any other tips on what else should I do while I'm at it?
Thanks

Try SlimBean from fusionjack his latest buid of 4.3.1 is pretty stable if you want or try a kernel that is stable. I would suggest dorimanx but im not sure if sods still exist in latest test builds. (i think they are done for tho)

Seems like the there is Version 4.4 of Slim Rom out there. If anyone else can vouch for its stability, I will install it. Otherwise, I'll probably stick to CyanogenMod

I would suggest to install fusionjacks slimkat as it has more fixes but there is a music player bug BEWARE!
If you want stability and more buttery smoothness try neatrom. i was into aosp too but without sources from sammy i believe its pointless.

It's not CM10, it is CM11 Snapshot number 10. That means it's the newest stable version of CM.
You have to do a full wipe in the recovery and than install it.
This kernel because it gives you great battery life and also CM11 camera fix

Hello XDA DEVELOPERS
i have résurrection remix 5.1.1 installed on my i9100
I want to know if is there a Stable kernel which support SWAP and Stweaks
And thanx
Try using DorimanX 11.0 by me. It should work with the ROM, just make sure to make a backup before flashing.

ok thank you but is it a stable kernel??
It can be a hit and miss for some people. From what I know, it is working fine on the latest version, so it should be stable enough. However, to be safe, just keep on the current kernel as there is always a chance that something might go wrong. Some ROMs are being built with zRAM support (e.g latest CM12.1 builds), so this should be a safer/more stable alternative for most inexperienced/non-hardcore users. Or optionally you could wait until the developer gives an update with the related changes.

Help to choose from spesific roms

Hello. Does someone use cyanogenmod 9 for i9300? İs it stable?
So i use phone for
Calls,fm radio, facebook, fb messenger, whatsapp.
İ need stable device , that got more ram space because of fb apps.
Currently i am on archroid 1.8 or something. İt is good. But i am wondering if CM9 or CM 10.2 is better than that?

I personally used Back-to-n00t, with poweramp in the background it's about ~550 at boot, your device will start slow down if you don't reboot though, just like other device. (memory leak)
You need Odin/Mobile Odin to flash Official stock files

One of the biggest advantages on custom ROMs are the kernels. Choose a ROM and ask here or search on google ,which kernel works well with it.
Less ram on boot depends on how many apps start on boot. You can always prevent them from starting with tools like AppMaster
