Sershing for lollipop AOSP kernel - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello XDA DEVELOPERS
i have résurrection remix 5.1.1 installed on my i9100
I want to know if is there a Stable kernel which support SWAP and Stweaks
And thanx

Try using DorimanX 11.0 by me. It should work with the ROM, just make sure to make a backup before flashing.

ok thank you but is it a stable kernel??

It can be a hit and miss for some people. From what I know, it is working fine on the latest version, so it should be stable enough. However, to be safe, just keep on the current kernel as there is always a chance that something might go wrong. Some ROMs are being built with zRAM support (e.g latest CM12.1 builds), so this should be a safer/more stable alternative for most inexperienced/non-hardcore users. Or optionally you could wait until the developer gives an update with the related changes.

Porting a new linux kernel to a device is not simple. It brings a lot of stability issues if the kernel version is too new, and so most developers stick with a LTS release such as v3.4.104. Most s2 kernels are at kernel version 3.0.101 because it is found to be stable, and so they stick with the mentality that 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'.

I really love your kernel and you are the new kernel master of i9100 now for me. Then why don't you use v3.4.104? My friend's phone is s4 mini and he is using a v3.4.x.x kernel. I think it is stable to use

Honestly, I think I don't have enough developing experience to do such task chhapil is also thinking to update linux version, but is also unsure whether to upgrade to a newer version or downgrade to 3.4.104.

Thank you for your replies. I have 2 more questions.
1. What are the pros of upgrading 3.4.104 kernel
2. So our device is official cm12.1 now and sources are online. Will you release a lollipop kernel?

1. Some pros of updating Linux kernel could include increased speed and security (since 3.0.101 kernels are not updated anymore) .
2. I guess you didn't see my Sig? Noppy already linked my dorimanx lp kernel thread. Yes, it works perfectly with cm12.1, however doesn't work yet on other roms like paranoid android and slimlp.

The Background:JB is far gone as of now, but i still love what Samsung delivered with JB 4.1.2 on my beloved SII.
Also @pedestre has stopped any more builds to the APOLO kernel.

But now its missing some key features like TRIM,ISOREC and may be newer toolchains.
So these are my unofficial builds for the STOCKNEAT ROM.

Good work @chhapil, the only thing missing with apolo was trim, so a welcome development......
i flash today this kernel.works perfect. Thank you so much for your hard work !!!:good::laugh:
Great work..... Am on NeatRom and trim is indeed a welcome feature in Apolo .... Couldn't see IsoRec support in the feature list... Has it been implemented? ... Will be downloading and testing as well...
No IsoRec yet, the current ramdisk doesn't allow currant implementation of isorec. I don't have enough time plus as per Lanchon's suggestion I'll wait got better implementation of isorec

Hello, @chhapil
I am testing 4.1.2 JB to see if it is faster than LOS micro-g. WHich kernel should I use to get twrp 3 ISOREC ? which kernel do you like most ?
Dorimanx JB 4.1.2 Kernel = Dorimanx-V8.47v059-JB-SGII
OR
APOLO JB 4.1.2 Kernel=Apolo-4.22_Regular-CWM
Currently I am on JB 4.1.2. stock I9100XWLSE and twrp v2.8.7
---------- Post added at 01:57 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:35 PM ----------
apprently, only the dorimanX for JB is compatible iwth ISOREC Twrp.
I installed it in TWRP 2.8.7, then insstalled TWRP 3.1, wiped cache+DATA, but the phone is in bootloop at the screen with SAMSUNG and the blue disc
Well i installed I9100XXLSJ and wiped factory reset in philz_touch_6.48, then installed your kernel and it works.... Now installing twrp 3 ISOREC !

If coming from 5.1.1 Du v9.8 on TWRP 2.8.7.0
1. flash CWM 6.0.5.3_1 (right from TWRP) and reboot to new recovery
2. flash SlimKernel-i9100-20140623
3. flash Kernel_Dorimanx-V10.50v001
4. wipe data, cache, system
5. flash SlimSaber-i9100-4.4.4-20160214
6. flash open_gapps-arm-4.4-pico-20160624
Am I right or did I forgot about something?

1. You don't need to flash old CWM.
2. You should always use the latest kernel build. v006 is the one you want.
3. You don't need to flash SlimKernel
4. If you followed your steps, you will end up with in-built kernel from slimsaber and not dori kernel!
So it should look like this:
1. wipe data, cache, system
2. flash SlimSaber-i9100-4.4.4-20160214
3. flash open_gapps-arm-4.4-pico-20160624
4. flash DorimanX V10.50 v006 UBER.
5. reboot.

Hi! Your latest dorimanx kernel for kitkat with linaro build is Version b009 released on 2017 where as with uber toolchain version is b007 released on 2016. You have already recommended uber, however linaro build is latest. Which one I shoud use?
Further, after installing Greekdragon 19052016 build for kitkat 4.4.4 or 21102015 of slimsaber build with latest Open Gaps as on 15.08.2017 , my s2 does not go into deep sleep. I have noticed that Google play services keeps on running which awake my device at 200Mhz. Would you please suggest some fix. Earlier I was on RR Nougat.

Always use latest build. Back then I liked using UBER, but gave users an option to use Linaro. Now I only use Linaro because there is less variables to deal with especially when diagnosing problems.

Hi,
I've pretty much been out of the loop in terms of Lineage/Nougat ROMs, so my assistance there is limited. If you need the customisation, stick with slimsaber. Yes it will be outdated, but if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Meanwhile, LineageOS 13 is a good choice if you need balance between performance, battery, and updates. Nougat however I would imagine is a little heavier on battery, but there are improvements in terms of notifications and in-built CPU scaling that S2 users can benefit from.
TL;DR: If you like what you have with slimsaber stick with it. Otherwise, LineageOS 13 is a excellent middle ground in terms of a great daily driver ROM. If you like the bleeding edge, you might enjoy Nougat.

Performance base setup for i9100 Suggestions

Hi guys,
Trying to setup an i9100 for daily use but something that does not freeze and runs without any issue.
Currently have been using cm13 with lanchon kernel but I am finding that it does freeze a little.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated whether it be changing/over clocking the settings.
Also happy to try new thing and other roms.
Thanks for any help.

Try cm13 by marcox with or without dorimanx kernel, it runs smooth without the kernel, but if you want over clocking and cpu or Gpu adjustments use dorminax kernel with the rom, u can also try lineage Os 14.1, it's so smoother than cm13 official rom.

I'm a bit behind with the latest release of LineageOS nightlies as I'm on the Galaxy S5 currently, but I assume the process is the same.
Alternatively, if you are already happy with the stability and features (some are missing in Lineage) of CM13, just use CM13 by Markox. Don't flash any additional kernels to ensure maximum compatibility and stability.

[Kernel] [3.4.15] [D855] WinXkernel [Alpha 0.2] [15/02/17]

After compiling roms for a couple devices and learning about the android rom, i have decided to dabble in the arts
of kernel compiling, i started with my main device the Nexus 6p, learnt a fair bit compiling kernels for it, so i decided to
come back to this device for testing purposes and trying to test and go back to ARM device which is completely different.
Now with the Nexus device i went full updated linux kernel first then gave updates, but this time ill be doing something a little
different, i will upstream some kernel updates, plus caf updates then i will give a release, or for example, the first realease i will
give you guys will be 3.4.2 kernel version, just to get things going, then next release will be a higher version.
I hope all of you like it i will be adding alot of stuff in the coming months.
All releases will keep up to date and working with latest CM roms
Here is the download link just click on the kernel and it will download

Ok so stock stock kernel you get with stock rom or even custom like CyanogenMod/lineageos has a kernel version of 3.4, each incremental update after that eg 3.4.1 or even 3.4.100 has many fixes and updates within the kernel, some do nothing for our device but others can, a small code change in one file can impact the way the kernel works

Well I'm running latest lineageos and I have never had it reboot on me. Are you using any kernel manager apps at all, as I haven't been able to add and customisation to it just it. It may panic because it's reaching for something it doesn't have
No reboots here either,
Im running the latest official Lineage .
if u have kernel mod or any other kernel tuner installed try to go back to your basic settings or just delete the app and install it again after your first boot.
Really smooth kernel !
