Just got my XU and connected it with my bmw. Other than all other Android devices I tried before (many!), the mail connection via Bluetooth shows all Mails from my corporate exchange inbox and offers the possibility to even answer with dragon voice.
Great! Up to now only blackberry 10 offered that functionality...
Might for sure mean that owners of other brands have the same benefit...

I don't remember the phone which is didn't
Do you know other Android devices where this worked fine? All the others I tried offered this functionality only for short messages, but not for any e-Mail inbox individually configured on the phone.... even iPhone doesn't do the job properly...
for me a big thing as you can let the car read the e-Mail to you using the cars interface and the big monitor of the car...

could you let me know how to set this up , I have a BMW & would like this feature .
not sure if bmw but i have mini connect which i believe the same as BMW.
My mini connected, i tried many phone out there and only two phone i know work for sure.
Here is a list below that i tried.

I have a bmw 550i and have had mixed success with a number of phones:
HTC One (with Android 4.2) - full access to exchange email messages and sms
NEXUS 5 (with 4.4) - sms but no email
Galaxy S4 (4.3) - sms but no email
LG G2 (with 4.3)
Moto X (4.2) - full access to exchange email and sms
Moto X (after update to 4.4) - sms but no email
Frustrating to say the least.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I finally got around to doing the upgrade in my One to 4.3 and it still works fine, with full email and sms access. Can't figure this one out. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

i converted my HTC one tmobile to dev edition and was on kit kat. it works fine.
I just got another moto x, just like you said, kit kat on moto x doesn't download email but only sms.
I also had a pleasure to play with Xperia Z ultra. Strange is that when new email arrive, it won't display new email only previous email. Turning the engine off and on did so the new email.

For the moto x on 4.4, any trick to getting this to work? Mine will not read sms.
Can't even get the normal voice function workin in my BMW....

Could you please let me know how to receive sms from my nexus 5? on my fathers x3 2011 they work just fine but on my 5 from 2014 I only get the messages that I send through the bmw portal. Tks

Something that happens with me is that sometimes the texts get hung up. I have to delete the most recent text on my phone, and they starting working with my car again. Moto X, with 4.4.2 and 2014 3 series GT.

I notice most of the Sony 4.3 or above lose new email feature. I had xperia z2 and new email icon shown in my car but when view in office application, only see old email. Check on the phone I do see the new email.
I tried z1, z,z1 compact..all behavebthe same above.
So far my experience with android phone that I know it work perfectly are HTC one and One plus One.

I cannot receive group MMS messages from my buddies with iphones.
I've turned off imessage on my old iphone. I've deleted the number from my apple account on the support website.

Sounds like you switch from an Iphone? I currently own both OS and this happened to me one time I switch, my solution was to change my iTunes account password.. After that was able to receive group text from iphone users.

Correct. I changed the password last night. It didn't make any difference. I'm stumped.
seeing this all the time when changing OS ( i work for verizon)
have your friends/family members that have an iphone delete your text message thread from there phones and start a new conversation, there phone still thinks your phone is an Iphone

Tried that last night. I finally started receiving some messages from one of the group texts I participate in today. Hopefully it sorted itself out in Apple's system given some time has passed.

I recently picked up my Xperia Z2, however I seem to not be able to find any setting to make a group MMS. I had an Lumia 920 and Iphone 5s prior that did this with no problem, however the Xperia Z2 seems to have no option for this. The MMS thread does not seem to be self contained.
Any advice?

Thanks for posting this! I was curious about it as I despise group MMS. IMO it's the over-used annoying equivalent of "Reply All" in Outlook. Most 3rd party apps have the ability to do it (or not) if you so choose though.
Is' t the same like in Z1

Did you find the solution to this problem? My new Z2 does not like Group messages for some reasons. Any help would be awesome and YES i do know I am bringing back an old post. Just throw me a bone please
I wish the stock app would do group texting too. The odd thing is that if you have a third party app with group texting enabled the stock app will keep the group messages intact in the background.
I agree. It is drivimg me crazy and the only complaint I have with the phone.

maybe it will work on AOSP rom only.
You need more than just the dialer. It requires other apks, can't remember them off of the top of my head

That's good to know. I just started using GV after getting my Z2 and those random numbers have been driving me crazy.
I also just started using built in SIP with Tue stock dialer and shows calls as [email protected] address, I hope the Google dialer will the IP address off.
Both of those make it so you can really use your recent call history to make calls.
There was some things with the interface I like better on the Z2 dialer than the Google dialer I was using on my old phone except that it does rotate while in call in landscape.

is there or will there be any solution by replacing some system apk files to make Hangout working with sms? I also have a Nexus 7 2012 3G, after patching a system apk file, tethering works and Hangout sends sms
Have Nexus 9 and Nexus 7 (2012), both WiFi only. Can SMS (within North America) using Hangouts with my Google Voice number, and receive SMS from anywhere.

I have mine on Tmobile and i'm using EvolveSMS works just fine for me.
Disabled?? I too have LTE version. I side loaded google messenger won't work best thing I could do is use mighty text it uses my phone # instead of Google voice number

Hello. I have a Nexus 9 LTE with ATT and can't send SMS. Hangouts only allows previous texts. Can't create new ones. Also, I have tried installing Google Messenger. However, it says google messenger is not compatible with Nexus 9.
This works for me on Nexus 7 and Nexus 9 without SIM-card: In the Hangouts app go to the Contacts tab, and choose a contact with phone number and you will get the SMS option http://goo.gl/HIBd0G

You still having problems? I can't send or receive SMS since 5.1 update on O2 UK
I don't know for other countries, but, I subscribed an option so-called 'data sharing' with my data carrier, and got a proper phone number. Thus, GoSMS works and I sometimes send SMS when I did not bring my beloved M8...

I have a VZW S4 (stock OC1). I bought a Huawei Watch and a Moto 360 (2015) in the last week to try out.
I'm having trouble with emails and texts. If I receive 2 emails (or texts), on the watch it should show me that I have 2 emails and let me tap into email, show me a short piece of each and let me tap into each one to read it and dismiss it.
What it actually does is only show me the one I received most recently. I can read that one. But, if another one comes in the previous one gets replaced, so I can only ever see the most recent email.
Same for text messages.
On my phone, I am using the stock Email (not Gmail) app and stock Messages app.
Anyone else got the same phone and an Android Wear watch (and using the Email app, not Gmail)? How does it work for you?
