I have a VZW S4 (stock OC1). I bought a Huawei Watch and a Moto 360 (2015) in the last week to try out.
I'm having trouble with emails and texts. If I receive 2 emails (or texts), on the watch it should show me that I have 2 emails and let me tap into email, show me a short piece of each and let me tap into each one to read it and dismiss it.
What it actually does is only show me the one I received most recently. I can read that one. But, if another one comes in the previous one gets replaced, so I can only ever see the most recent email.
Same for text messages.
On my phone, I am using the stock Email (not Gmail) app and stock Messages app.
Anyone else got the same phone and an Android Wear watch (and using the Email app, not Gmail)? How does it work for you?

I am considering buying the G Watch or the 360. My concern is the texting app I must use to be able to reply to text messages. I was told I need to use hangouts. I opened hangouts today on my G3 to get used to it and gotta say it kinda sucks. I hate the archive action, lack of customization and it doesn't pull contact photos in for all my people.
Are you able to use other texting apps to get full functionality of Android Wear?

I used evolve sms and know there is another that works but I haven't tried it.
I've been using GoSMS with no problems. I can reply and send text messages using my voice with no problems.
How is the Touchwiz + LG G Watch messaging working so far? I want to use it with my S5 and I have both the G Watch and Gear 1.
So we can install minuum keyboard but do any apps take text input?
Since the last Samsung Gear S upgrade a number of months ago, I have had the ability to reply to text messages using the Verizon Message+ App with my Gear S. I could dismiss or reply to my texts until they were read on my phone. Then about 2 weeks ago, I used the stock app to send a text message and I lost the ability to reply. It might be unrelated, but now I can only dismiss. I can reply on all my other apps but not texts with message+. Any ideas? I have uninstalled updates and tried to reset settings. No go. Really want it back. I might reinstall the whole phone unless someone can give a setting to change or another idea.
I have a gear 2 and never got the verizon messages+ app to work with my gear 2 and note 4. Did you every have any luck with that? I really like being able to quick reply on my wrist so I switched to the samsung messages app but definitely prefer the verizon messages+ app. I would like to hear if you found a way to get verizon messages+ working with the quick reply. Love my gear 2 gold with a 12 dollar ebay gold colored metal band. Thanks!
I'm in the same boat people. I have a Gear S and a Note 5 and really badly want to be able to use the Verizon Message+ app on the watch and have them sync up, but as of right now, I can only compose new messages from my watch, but I don't receive the incoming ones, or have any reply ability.
@jedi you say it used to work flawlessly before some update? Any luck talking with Samsung about it? or Verizon?
Hoping we can figure this out.
Ty. L8.
I was on the fence of getting a Gear S because I primarily use hangouts (SMS integrated) as my primary messaging platform. I was aware I'd be able to receive messages on my watch, but not be able to respond. However upon getting my watch and setting it up. I got a hangouts message, swiped to the left, clicked the three dots.. To my surprise I had the option to REPLY or DISMISS. Replying works fantastic with either the preset messages, keyboard, or voice input, and SENDS THE MESSAGE OVER DATA! ( Not even SMS.) This is absolutely fantastic. I figured I'd post this here because I was looking tirelessly for concrete evidence on this before making my purchase and was unable to find any. It's also worth nothing, that if i dismiss the message from my phone, I lose the ability to reply to it from my watch.
I'm not using Gear S Notification extender app either, it's working natively.

Yes, viber and whatsapp work as well.. The only con would be that you can't initiate a new message from the watch like messages.. Also in viber notification, it allows to reply only the first time you see it.. Next time it shows only dismiss option..
I've noticed that i can ONLY reply if i have Android Wear installed also. I don't even have to open it, just have it installed. If I remove it, I lose the functionality to reply.
Good to know! I was using Gear Notification Extender (got my Gear S Thursday) but didn't like how it labeled everything as GNE. I look forward to using this. Now if I could just get the Gear S to last me a full 24 hours...
Great! Thanks for posting this. Some Google apps play nice with Samsung features.

Thanks for this info. I installed Andriod Wear and now I have the reply functionality for hangouts which I did not have prior to doing so.
Would anyone know how to get email notifications over 3g while the watch is "Remotely Connected" to a phone (Note 5 in my case)?
Hey does anyone know of a way to compose new emails direct from watch using accounts setup on phone rather than just replying to received emails. If you do I am extremely keen to find out. Also interested in getting BBM working natively if anyone has any suggestions. Am also posting in development forum.
not sure u can

You can use the email app on the watch to compose new emails as long as you use stock email app on the phone. Otherwise, there is no way.

I am unable to compose new emails to other contacts I can only reply to emails that I receive
Open the email app on the watch and you will have option to compose new emails. However, if you are not using stock Samsung Email app on the phone, this won't work.
Had someone got the stock samsung email apk for me. I thought I already had it but I can't compose new emails
If you have a Samsung phone, it is part of ROM. If you don't have a Samsung phone, you should know a lot of the Gear S features won't work.
I do have a Samsung phone and have being using the default email app but I am still unable to compose new emails from the watch - only reply to received messages. Any other suggestions??
Here is the direct copy from the manual:
Sending Emails
1. On the Apps screen, tap Email.
2. Drag the screen downwards from the center of
the screen and tap Compose.
3. Add recipients and enter a message, and then
tap to send the message.

When I drag down nothing happens
As in no compose or any other options come up
Hey where did you get the manual from?
Then you must have something configured wrong on your phone. It works on mine just like manual says. Make sure the stock Email app is the default email app on your phone and has email accounts setup. When you open the email app on watch, you should see existing emails on the app as well.

Direct downloaded from Samsung.
I found this update link in another thread but after updating, the app crashes and won't open.

It just comes up on the phone "unfortunately email has stopped"
Samsung's apps are usually phone model specific. You don't want to blindly update from other sources.
I think that's what's happened and it didn't like it. Is there a way too restore the previous version
I don't know. You can try uninstall it. But you might wind up need a hard reset. Are you using a Samsung phone that meets the requirement of Gear S? Not all Samsung phones are supported.
Yep everything else goes fine with Gear s. I can install new apps etc and get email forwarded from my phone but I just can't compose new emails
Have just done factory reset so will see if it fixes it
My moto notifications are not long enough - just what words fit on the little card. A friend with an Asus watch running android wear can double tap his cards and scroll down to read the entire email or whatever notification it is. I can't get this to work on my moto 360. What am i doing wrong. I have worn a pebble for years and all notifications are pretty much completely displayed. What good does it do to see you have an email if you still have to open your phone to read it.
I use eNotify for this - allows you to tap on an email notification on your watch and expand it to read the entire email:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hermes.enotify
Blocked notifications from my main email app (MailDroid) and use this for dealing with emails on my watch. Takes a little setting up, but well worth it.
I believe K9 for Wear offers similar features, but I preferred eNotify after trying both. For SMS I use Textra.
