Hi
My Device is ruby:
ruby pvt ship s-off rl
hboot-1.93.0002
1.Do i need to upgrade firmware?
2.where can i get the latest and most stable firmware?
3.what's the benefit of upgrading?
thanks everybody.
Edit: the reason i'm asking this question is my phone has lots of reboots when i try to awake it. i changed the rom and the problem still there. i bought it since last month and i don't think it's battery has a problem.it worked fine with sence roms

I'm pretty sure you're already on the latest firmware because you're able to flash ICS ROMS. But I could be wrong, you could go into the development section and then look for the T-Mobile OTA. Someone posted the flashable latest firmware.
I don't think the firmware will help you. That seems like a hardware problem. You might have a faulty battery, or your Amaze doesn't like custom ROMS built from source like CM or AOKP.
Maybe you should come back to Super Sense. I'm going to update it soon too. For the Amaze, there's no place like home such as a Sense ROM.

Thanks a lot afnan.
I thought hboot version shows the firmware version, but from your reply i take i was wrong
I'd really like super sense, but with super sense i had problem with two things:
1.on a unexpected reboot, it loses the ability of sms delivering!
2.after 4,5 days , notification sounds goes back to default!

Wait, turn off your phone and take out the battery. Look at the golden connectors. What you need to do is CLEAN the connectors. Use rubber from a pencil (eraser), and you could also use a wash cloth (don't put so much water!!!). Your goal is to make the connectors clean since random reboots might be caused by the battery being dirty and losing its connection with the phone!
Okay if that doesn't work I think you should buy an Anker or OEM stock battery from eBay.com (do they even have eBay in Iran?). Those are great batteries! DONT BUY A CHINESE BATTERY! (They are bad and can break or leak, they're too cheap!)
If that doesn't work I'm not sure what will! You could have a hardware problem.
As for the alert sounds, I think I've fixed them! There was a small error in the build.prop. I also added back the original Sense 3.6 tones so you should be good!

ok,I'll clean it up. and unfortunately we cannot use ebay in IRAN.
and once again thanks for your effort on amaze 4g, you're my hero
I wanna ask you another question. when my reboots were too many, i decided to recover my old backup of cm10.1 rom. after boot, i found out it didn't bring data partition back and all my applications are gone!:crying: then i tried to recover again, and watched the procedure
it recovers the /system and some other things but suddenly the procedure goes away and it doesn't display completed message. it's like the 4ext recovery starts (boots) again. i didn't have this problem with backup of supersense. what's your opinion?

Well CM is built from Jellybean source. It might have a few quirks or errors, and maybe 4ext forgot to backup the data block.
You could try amazon.com as well. The stupid sanctions were placed because of losers like Bibi. They need to stop.

Okay my hboot is actually 1.93.2222. I have the latest firmware. But I'll find you the flashable zip for it. I remember it was in the ARHD thread and latest OTA thread. If you can find it, you're excellent at searching.
I also have another thing you can try, when you install 4ext and let the app flash it, go into recovery and go to tools/options and choose "fix permissions". That might work but I think you have dirty battery connectors, or just a bad battery.

You need to put this on your external sd (ext_sd). It should already be named PH85IMG. So you should be good to go! Also DONT INTERRUPT THE UPDATE PROCESS. When it flashes, do not take out your battery, ever, or you might brick. If you think it got stuck, it didn't, it's probably just being slow. It shouldn't take that long though. Hope this helps!

Yes it should only affect the bootloader and firmware. It doesn't affect recovery.
If you switch from TWRP to 4ext to save your backup, you need to restore your backup then flash 4ext over it. Then backup with 4ext and delete the TWRP backup since they aren't compatible. At least 4ext is better.

Hmm did you rename it to PH85IMG? Something doesn't seem right. I think you might be on the latest since my Amaze actually had the Juopunutbear Hboot. That's probably why. You can get the Jbear hboot when you S-Off and it asks you if you want it.
Did you try cleaning the metal battery connectors to fix the random reboots yet? Some guy named Zeilan made a small guide to fixing random reboots by cleaning the metal cknnectors.

I have s-off, what can i do now. Was it only to get the *locked* back?
One big deal for a lot of people is that you will be able to make and restore nandroid backups without having to seperately go into hboot and flash the kernel (boot.img) for what you're restoring.
Also people want to be able to download and flash roms in a single file and installation process. Once devs begin packaging them for s off, you won't do the old two file method of rom in recovery followed by PH98IMG.zip in hboot.
Everything will be included in recovery.
And to me the big deal is that you can flash the latest ice cream sandwich radio firmware by flashing the RUU, and whenever you want you can how back to the gingerbread radio firmware and gingerbread roms. As opposed go how its always been where once you upgraded there was no going back for radio firmware.
Also people will tell you that's the reason that we don't have a lot more developers on our device is because of s off. I personally think that's wishful thinking, and the user base is a reason a lot of devs walked away, but I'm passing along the information since its posted constantly that once s off is achieved there will be a line of devs a half mile long begging to get to the rezound.

Quick question, Charlie. I came from the Dinc and am used to backup/restore including the kernels. If I were to do a backup right now(already did), after being s-off, will it include the kernel? Or, does something in the process need to be modified before the kernel is included in the backup? I have a feeling it will be included right off the bat, but just curious.
You can flash one of the awesome splash screens in my thread in the theme section

Backups done by amon ra included the kernel you just couldn't restore it without con's nandroid helper. So when you go to backup and it lets you select what to backup, make sure boot has an x next to it.

Thank you. That's what I didn't have to do on the Dinc, because I used CWM. I'll make sure to have this checked in Amon Ra. Although, I think it's checked by default.

Does S-Off mean we have a better chance of getting RIL working on AOSP possibly? I think I kept reading that AOSP wasn't ever going to be possibly until we got S-Off.
Also how the hell did we get S-Off? Did HTC release it, or did someone find a bootleg way to get S-Off with their own research? I was on XDA like a day or two ago before S-Off was ever mentioned then all the sudden we have it.

Some guys advocate that AOSP devs will flock back to the rezound if we have s off.
We got s off because some developers from a completely different device put in a crapload of time and effort in order to figure out the exploit and then test it on our devices.

This is my main reason. My Rezound loves the radios and Incredikernel. So I did a mixture of the 3, s-0ff, ics firmware, & Ineffabilis. Also just re-packed a GB rom that included kernel boot.img flashing and it worked BEAUTIFULLY. No PH98IMG flashing done at all.
Also, can always go back to Rezrom Ex 3.4 via nandroid without issue.
Does anyone know if we will be able to get the mount points changed for sdcard and sdcard2? I know recovery reads the actual sdcard, but for apps backing up data, it all goes to the internal "sdcard". More than once have I gotten in a rush and forgot to backup my internal sdcard. just hoping we can get that changed around.
Someone should know this
Is there anything to gain with supercid on this device?

This process is DEAD SIMPLE ... Just time consuming if you can't get the "wire Trick" timing down.
All devices are different. All I can suggest is READ ... READ ... READ
Since you don't really even know what you want to do ... S-Off can wait. Then maybe a different s-off process may be available when you DO need it. I doubt it will be "easier" though.

I may not be able to answer right away but I will get to you. I did something similar when we got s-off and ended up walking around 30 people through the process. I may not have all the answers but I will do my best to help in any way I can. Apparently others are trying to "help" and if you choose to follow their advice if you brick your phone you are on your own.

Uh, I could use some help, but not sure if it's up your alley. However I'm not allowed to post in the proper forum because of my n00bness so yeah... Anyway I'm running the new ICS on my Rezound and using the MinimalText widgit. Basically, is there any way to make numbered notifications pop up on the widgets you create and place? An example would be, is I used MinimalText to create a simple "EMAIL" icon. However I want a little notification to be able to pop up on that icon telling me how many new emails I have. Same with SMS. Any help would be cool, and if not no worries. Thanks.

I know if you use nova laucher prime there is a secondary app called something like tesla unread. So if the theme works with tesla launcher it could be done. Tesla unread makes its so if i have a text it will have a 1 next to my message icon. here is a link,
you have to use nova launcher with this add-on, https://play.google.com/store/search?q=tesla+unread

I am S-Off, rooted and relocked but I cannot get the latest OTA update automatically. (Probably because of the custom recovery)
hboot - 2.11.000
radio - 0.95.00.1118r/0.95.00.1223r
Amon-RA recovery 3.13
Software
Android Version 4.0.3
Sense 3.6
Software Number 3.14.605.5 710RD
Where do I start? Removing the Amon-RA?

I think if you run the .12 RUU you should be back on track to receive OTA's again, if not mistaken.
Just download the new RUU name it PH98IMG and flash it in bootloader (hboot). Afterwards you will need to flash a recovery and youll be all set. Being locked, unlocked is irrelevant as long as your s-off. Meaning you never need to unlock as long as your s-off.

I am S-Off, rooted and relocked but I cannot get the latest OTA update automatically. (Probably because of the custom recovery)

You are on the last gingerbread release. Run the new RUU as stated and if you decide on AmonRA for recovery make sure you use v3.15. 3.13 will not work on ICS firmware.

Then you´re probably s-on.
Did you unlock your bootloader? Do you have root access?
When booting into the bootloader it will say s-on or s-off.
I s-offed my phone yesterday with the same hboot, using the wiretrick here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1743466

You can also try to flash the kernel via fastboot.
extract the boot.img from the rom, put it in your fastboot folder and type in cmd 'fastboot flash boot boot.img'

Just download the hboot, rename it to PG89IMG.zip, put it on the root of your SD card and boot into bootloader. Then just accept to update hboot.

Used it myself, simply boot up into hboot with that file on your sd card, and accept.
Then it'll restart bootloader and voila, hboot 1.49.0007
The hboot wil also say 'locked' on top.
He has the CDMA not GSM.

Damn somebody got hamed on by coal686. By the way homie, hamed is a term in Detroit used to describe somebody that got told off. But on a serious note, this site doesn't need pompous jerks trying to act like they are better by trying to sound intellectually brighter than somebody and having a smart mouth. This site is full of devs and users collaborating together to help one another. So there's no need to be a ****. I'm not name calling I'm just merely stating facts

It's all good. I edited mine to to be more straight to the point. Some people do need to be reminded what this site is all about and I don't think you were in the wrong. Although sometimes we all make mistakes its recognizing them and being the better man sometimes. Btw I liked your comeback as well. Not too harsh and got the point across
Thank all of you guys for all the help! I appreciate it. I have another question. I flashed the 3d to metro pcs. If i flash another rom will it delete the flash? and i downloaded apn backup but it says that ics doesnt let it back up or restore anything...
No it shouldn't. And are you flashing a aosp or sense Rom? Either one ics won't allow third party apps to write to the apn xml file. But here are a couple solutions. On sense you can download msl reader and get your msl code. Once you get that code go into your dialer dial ##3242# and punch in your code under edit. Once you do that click on advanced, go to the bottom of page where your mms settings are located. If you know the setrings, edit the settings to your liking. However if its aosp, you will need to make a copy of your apn file. It's located in system/etc folder if you didn't know. Place it in your pc. Use notepad to edit the settings and save it. Copy it back onto your sdcard. Then copy it back into the folder and set the default permissions for the file and reboot. If that don't work try go sms as an alternative until devs fix the issue.

Seems stock, we need a screenie of the kernel and baseband version to tell you what firmware version you have although it looks like the ics ota.
Boot into bootloader by
1. Pull battery and replace
2. Hold volume down + power until hboot shows up
3. Look at s off/s on status, radio versions and if it says unlocked or tampered at the top.
Tampered means there is a custom recovery installed and probably rooted, this is good if you wanna flash a ROM.

Looks like you have the leaked global ics ruu firmware from mid 2012 and a rom based on it. Since you are still s-on, you may find it difficult to revert back to anything older (such as the official ics). The kernel looks to be the one included in the leaked ruu as well.
Hi mate,
Is that mean something? Bad or good maybe?
So the step is make it s-off, flashing the rom, and.... Am i right?
I dont get any trouble with thia phone. I just want to know are there any better setting than i have? If not maybe i'll stick with this one. (for battery and performance maybe)
Looking forward from you all...

1. S-off. You may have to relock to perform the s-off. I can't remember. Go do your research before starting.
2. Flash venom Rom. This is an ics Rom with zero bugs.
3. Flash the team bamf kernel (made by same developer) this kernel will increase your battery life by about 50%
Good luck

S off might come off as confusing..
It's not necessary some kernels will flash via ph98img (the bootloader will search for this and ask you to install the update)
Joelz (maker of viperrez and bamf kernel) has implemented this in his rom and kernel.
If your s on, normally you would need a computer to flash the boot.img separately via fastboot commands (search more about using adb and fastboot)

You don't need to s-off. S-off makes flashing a ROM a little easier by automatically flashing the kernel afterwards, but as was mentioned, these days a lot of ROMs make the kernel file for you and the phone goes to hboot and you just accept the update and it flashes it for you.
s-off makes it easier to brick your phone. So it may be better to stay s-on until you get the hang of the Rezound way of doing things. I'm s-on and on the same global leak and I have no problem with it. The ROM I run, EclipticRez makes a PH98IMG file for the kernel so it's easy peasy.
So you are probably ready to flash a ROM. But I would check what recovery you have on there. Boot into bootloader as you did before then navigate to recovery. The two main ones used for the Rez are Amon Ra and TWRP. Amon Ra is currently at v3.16, I don't know about TWRP but you can find it in the Development section and find out. Then once you know you have the latest recovery you can flash a ROM. There should be instructions in the thread for how to flash the ROM and if you need the kernel separately the dev usually posts it for download, otherwise you have to pull it out of the ROM and flash it using fastboot.
Seems a lot to learn.
But, thank you guys.
I will keep searching the forum to find out more info before i decide to flash.
Thanks for al advices and nice to know you all here.

Alrighty, after searching through the forum with no success, here i am for suggestions/solutions
So my evo seems to only boot a small handful of roms. Currently its on Viper4g, previously it was cm 10.1 but that no longer boots. It does work with the stock basedsuperjelly rom.
Ive tried to flash Dirty Unicorn, Carbon unoffical, MIUI and some others but all of them dont even get to the boot screen. All of them either end up sitting at their own boot logo forever or dont even get past the HTC logo when first turned on
My TWRP is the latest(2.5), the roms are in no way corrupted, ive made sure of this. Ive wiped before every install, followed all directions etc.
Also Hboot is 1.19.0000
Whats the deal here? Can i not use roms above a certain android version? (Viper is 4.1, so is Superjelly)
I have no idea what could be causing it
All i know is i want to flash some different roms
Read this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2256478
The issue is that you need to install the kernel separately from the ROM when you are S-on when running Hboot 1.15 or newer. Many Sense ROM's include an S-on kernel installer to help facilitate ROM flashing.

WEllP, I tried it the app way and it didnt work, in the process my backups magically broke and roms that worked didnt work. Luckily for thr second time, SuperJelly saved the day and booted after a flash. I hate to be stuck on superjelly (too stockish for me) but it looks like i have no choice.
