I have searched everywhere for this, but couldnt find anything...
I just want to know if it is safe to root with the preinstall method to make a backup of my apps before i unlock.
I am on an at&t atrix running 4.5.91/2.3.4 (gingerbread)
While I haven't unlocked my device yet, I can't see why not?
Everyone around here was rooted with one form of method or another before unlocking even existed...

Third is the cm 10.1 an official or a port and do i need an unlocked bootloader to run it
p.s. i havent been on the rooting side of things for about a year and half and this locked bootloader crap is new all my previous phones didnt have this issue...

1. Its locked. Trust me.
2. Go to carloswii5's thread and follow the steps. Go HERE
3. We have a port, and yes you need to unlock bootloader. Cm10.1 for 769 HERE

Here's a written guide by the same guy. Just a heads up that this is a long process and you should put off a day to do this. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2370835

It doesn't? Then I'm sorry but I know that there's a way to open the boot loader by flashing an P760 kdz then open bootloader then flash back but I think that made the screen mirror all the time.

I have a P769 v20b that I recently obtained with MetroPCS on T-Mobile's network (SIM card)
I'm wondering if the bootloader is unlock-able and if there's a simple root method floating the P769 v20b since I want to flash a ROM to it.
Here's a picture of the box.
I'm still new to tinkering around with root/unlock for phones.
But I'm guessing the process for it would be:
CWM
Root
Unlock bootloader
Flash a ROM
Any help and answers will be greatly appreciated.
Lol the bootloader is near impossible...

Hello guys,
My phone was bootloader unlocked. And my L9's motherboard was fired last week LG service told me; we changed motherboard. And they repaired it. And now I want to unlock my bootloader but it didn't unlock. I tried all methods and if I start the oem-unlock command, my phone is normally rebooted. So I can't unlock my bootloader. Did you tried flash other KDZ file?
I'm done with flashing those stupid euro kdzs.....hahaha! I'm going to install kuma82's themed rom tonight and that will be it until someone figures out how to use the stock kernel to port a CM 10 for locked bootloaders. LG....you win...for now.

kuma82's guide
After trying the manual/KDZ method several times (then giving up) I tried kuma82's guide and it worked for me:

My phone is dated May 2013, I know there's some discussion about whether LG completely locked L9s after a certain date. Anyway, I was surprised, but for my phone it worked.
