I have a P769 v20b that I recently obtained with MetroPCS on T-Mobile's network (SIM card)
I'm wondering if the bootloader is unlock-able and if there's a simple root method floating the P769 v20b since I want to flash a ROM to it.
Here's a picture of the box.
I'm still new to tinkering around with root/unlock for phones.
But I'm guessing the process for it would be:
CWM
Root
Unlock bootloader
Flash a ROM
Any help and answers will be greatly appreciated.
Lol the bootloader is near impossible...

I think clockworkmod is very slow in developing a recovery!
Already installed ROM Manager, but it tells me that my device isn't listed yet....
Is there any ROM out for our L9? I would prefer Cyanogenmod
We cant really install a traditional recovery until our bootloader is either cracked or LG comes up with a way to unlock their bootloader or unlocks it in the next update they push. For now we are stuck with a 2-init recovery.
10e update for T-Mobile is bootloader unlocked as the open source proves that with the kernal being in the open source

The bootloader is unlocked! I compiled a CWM recovery. Will be releasing as soon as I or someone can help me make a postrecoveryboot.sh script to avoid any potential boot loops if something being installed in recovery creates an error like in some current LG phones.
on a sidenote though, just because LG released the kernal source didnt necessarily mean the bootloader has to be unlocked because they released the source code for the LG Motion and its still locked up tighter than a virgin who wont spread her legs......just saying.
The bootloader is unlocked after getting an ota?

i have lg l9 p768, and i wish to unlock bootloader. i have read for crossflashing with p760 firmware and unlocking bootloader.
in these new versions of 760 firmware bootloader is already unlocked, so question is will it be unlocked immediately after flashing on 768 version without additional unlocking procedures
You still need to follow all unlock procedures, if you use my guide in the general section, you should unlock without any problems.
Good luck!

I successfully rooted my L9 and flashed TWRP recovery. I DID NOT unlock the bootloader though. Do i have to unlock the bootloader to start flashing roms? Thx in advance!

I have same question....any response
Thx
Normally, it's needed to unlock the bootloader in order to install roms, but is possible to do it without unlocking the bootloader. Look at my guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/optimus-l9/general/guide-install-custom-roms-locked-t3249828
