Any chance of this working for us? - G2 General

http://www.modmydroid.net/flash-custom-rom-stock-device-custom-recovery/#
Supposed to work on any device with any ROM... We obviously don't have any ROMs to test yet but it doesn't say anything about boot loader status... What do you guys think?
Sent from my LG-D800 using Tapatalk 4

Yeah, with the locked bootloader none of this is possible yet unfortunately. They are assuming its unlocked.

That's what I figured but wasn't sure on. .. Thanks

Are any devs still working to bypass motorola bootloader?

I am extremely excited that motorola unlocked the bootloader. But I would prefer a way to bypass the official fuse-breaking unlock and use a fully reversable unlocking method. Since moto allowed us to unlock our bootloaders it seems all work has stopped.
Does anyone know if any devs are still trying to bypass the bootloader?

I don't think they are
(we have 2nd-init for that sort of thing)
Bummer... I wouldn't think im the only one who finds bypassing the bootloader advantageous.
Maybe when the rom frenzt settles down we will see this a bit more?

Probably not because we will have cm7 by then

Doubt it. Not really sure I see the added benefit?
Unlocking your bootloader voids your warranty. Right now it is not a reversable process.
If we could un-unlock our bootloader we can still send our phone in for warranty covered repair and replacement.

Only problem is unlocking your bootloader burns a fuse. So I mean you could go in there... .
2nd init is the closest we're gonna get I think guys.

Pshh im a pansy...
I wonder if the reason motorola finally caved on the unlocked bootloader was to stop development of kholk bypassing the lock...

[Q] different recoveries...

So from my little bit if reading through Samsung it seems that the only recovery everyone uses is cwm.. are there any other options like the 4ext? Or atleast cwm touch?

in time there will be. The phone is still pretty new.

I was more or less asking if it was possible because I'm new to Samsung and all I see is Odin cwm in the Samsung forums. I'm coming from HTC so my knowledge is back to ubernoob when it cones to root. I know this phone is new, hell big red isn't even out yet so I wasn't like Wtf how come it isn't done yet.
Sent from my vivow using Tapatalk 2
I would wait a bit to install either of the cwm recoveries. Neither one work 100% yet. There are some issues with both.

Rooting HTC one

I'm going to be switching from gs3 to HTC one. Just wanted to known if all at&t models can be rooted? I know there is boot loader to be unlocked, is HTC allowing that on all devices?

Yes so far and if you use the tool kit in dev section super easy basically does it all for ya

Thank you. Is HTC going to leave that going? Reason I ask is I read a while ago (when the phone first came out) that they were gonna stop unlocking boot loaders.

They said they were going to close the gap but I honestly don't think so if anyone wants it done it's att and not HTC! They actually like people who help them with development progress and debugging etc ! If you font wanna unlock now just go through the steps and save your key from HTC and then unlock when ya want

Need some honest opinions here.

Well guys, I'm having some scary thoughts about upgrading to a 5s from my s4. I really don't want to, but I am confused about the bootloader. I've searched the forums high and low for the information I've been trying to look for. Honestly, I was just wondering if the bootloader will eventually get unlocked.
Is it possible? Have the devs given up? Safestrap is amazing by the way. Using it right now with hyperdrive. I just haven't seen any chatter about it. I am no way complaining I am just lacking the information. I am having internal memory issues.
Some please ease our minds (and mine for that matter) about this situation. Please, steer me away from the 5s. I am hardcore android. Is the s4 worth keeping? Is anyone else going to (it have) replace the s4?

True, but I heard from now on.. All of Verizon's phones bootloaders will be locked. Might as well try apple for the first time. I can always comes back. I'll miss it but man I just need some info.

I recently switched from the iPhone 5 to the S4 because it was just an iPhone. I even enjoyed jailbreaking my iPhone and it wasn't all that great. No customization like what's allowed on android. Hope you choose to stay.
Sent from my SCH-I545 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
But you can do just as much if not more on your stock s4 than the iphone. The iphone has no customization at all besides just switching your wallpaper.
Sent from my SPH-L720 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
You guys all have a point. I might just upgrade the iPhone 5s and resell for cash and keep my s4. Either way this s4 is staying with me. Anyone know any news on the boot loader?
Sent from my SCH-I545 using xda app-developers app
Yeah man the iPhone 5S has nice features but I'm telling you it's not worth it. The iPhone is smoother but you lack on a lot of customization. Your iPhone will look exactly like anyone iPhone 4 out there and that's 3 generations old.
Sent from my SCH-I545 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Yeah. I understand. So is not safe to say the boot loader for the s4 won't see any hope? As in dead?

What do you wanted an unlocked bootloader for??
This bootloader stuff has been so blown out of proportion that so many people are just going on the "locked bootloader blah blah" bandwagon. We just need another exploit, Hash is working on kexec.

lol so I can do whatever I want with my device. Others agree. Now, kexec. Can you explain what that is for me?

Kexec is like a hijack of the kernel. It pretty much loads a custom kernel on top of the stock one.

Aw, I see. That would be nice.

The main benefit of getting kexec support would be that people could flash aosp roms. As im sure you already know currently there is only support for touchwiz based roms on ss.
Hit thanks if I helped you out. Doing a little bit of reading goes a long way. Sent via tapatalk. now Free

Yes. AOSP is a must. It would really help people with internal memory such as myself. Do you know if the boot loader itself is being worked on? Or are devs just exploiting it rather than fully unlocking it.

Pretty sure it isn't going to be unlocked. It never was for the S4 so it probably won't be.

What do you mean by "whatever" you want? Install a ROM? Safestrap does that for you. Install a kernel? Hash is working on kexec.
I'm convinced most of the people complaining about the bootloader have no idea what they are talking about. You do realize that SS and kexec will be virtually grant you the same things an "unlocked" bootloader does.
Loki is another exploit on MDK devices that gives you the same capabilities, many people even think that the MDK has an unlocked bootloader, lmao.
Again I ask, what are you hoping to do with an unlocked bootloader that SS and kexec cannot do?

You asked for am honest opinion...I'm just letting you know. So you just wish to have more internal storage? You can try to flash a ROM on the stock rom slot.
It just seems like you have this obsession with the bootloader based on your threads created and the forum-wide PMs about the unlock petition.

No, 16 is enough. But its really 8 or something because of the OS. Obsession with the boot loader? Dude I just want carriers to stop locking up the bootloaders to my devices that I pay for. Just because its locked doesn't mean I want it unlocked. Done with this I just wanted info and I got it so thanks I guess. petition has 250 sigs so pretty awesome.

To anyone who's still interested,

I found this relating to Cyanogenmod on a locked bootloader. I'm sure it's nothing you guys don't know already.
