To anyone who's still interested, - LG Optimus L9 P760, P765, P768, P769

I found this relating to Cyanogenmod on a locked bootloader. I'm sure it's nothing you guys don't know already.

Carrier unlocking roger/at&t note i717

Alright, so I know this is probably a thread already but each one I've seen is so unclear. I need to carrier unlock my phone, for free so I can change from rogers or bell. There has to be an easy way to go about this. Rooted, liquid smooth jb with flapjaxx kernel. Hopefully someone can shed some light on an easy method. I'd like to change my phone over this weekend so I can have service at work Tuesday. Thanks for the help!

Any chance of this working for us?

http://www.modmydroid.net/flash-custom-rom-stock-device-custom-recovery/#
Supposed to work on any device with any ROM... We obviously don't have any ROMs to test yet but it doesn't say anything about boot loader status... What do you guys think?
Sent from my LG-D800 using Tapatalk 4
Yeah, with the locked bootloader none of this is possible yet unfortunately. They are assuming its unlocked.
That's what I figured but wasn't sure on. .. Thanks

MJ7 Root and Unlock?

So I've been reading and I see that developers are working on a root method for the new 4.3 update. And to these guys I want to say thank you for all your hard work! I'm curious as to whether they'll be a method to unlock the boot loader? I know about the whole ME7 ordeal, I just hope we won't see the same with this new update. Anyone know anything?

I believe it is still being looked at. With the release of note 3 probably got even more eyes on it. Though from everything I've seen posted a true unlock looks very hard if not impossible. It looks like the best will be Safestrap with kexec exploit to load custom kernels. Problem is right now no kexec exploit.

Wow. I hope it'll be possible. I've never seen a phone locked down this tight. Not even HTC. Hopefully these guys will come up with something. It would be awesome if Adam Outler could do a casual method for all builds on this device.

Hey guys, just got my S4 and I'm really happy with it, but I'm just so lost with all of the locked boot loader things and Loki ect. I don't know where to start at all. I'm sorry if this is the wrong thread to ask, if it is, could you guys point me in the right direction? Once again, sorry.
Thanks in advance!

Best place to start is finding out what build you're on as options are limited to some degree depending upon that. I'm assuming you're going to be on one of the newer ones. Lemme know and we'll go from there bud.

Unfortunately, I am on the newest build that came out. I had no idea that the bootloaders were locked until after I updated. I actually came from the S3 so I pretty much know the tools that I need and things like that but I have never ever heard of Loki before, all I know is its some type of makeshift work around for the bootloader.

You will not be able to install a custom recovery on your device, as any build past MDK (the original build) has pretty much been locked down. Only MDK people have the ability to use Loki.
Your only alternative is Safestrap, basically you can only flash ROMs that use the stock kernel...which means no AOSP. There's a thread for it here somewhere.

Damn that's dissapointing to say the least. I really loved AOSP on my S3 and I really hear that its pretty great on on the S4. Oh well, I will just enjoy 4.3 until 4.4 comes later this month, or year due to Verizon's AMAZING speed when it comes to updates. -_-

if you do some reading, you find that safestrap recovery is available for your phone....limited ROMs but at least its an avenue.
read and research !!!

[Q] Help Rooting on MK2

I just picked up an S4 and am coming from an S3.
Found this link to get root but not sure if I want to take the method.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2574652
I'm on MK2.
Has the bootloader been unlocked yet or is it unlocked by default?
My phone needs some AOSP in its life. Bad.

Not sure anyone can help you if your not sure you want to try the method in the first place. The thread Naddict refers to says its roots MK2 in the title. The bootloader Is locked so no AOSP. Theres a sticky that most people refer users to when they ask this question (which is at least 4 times a day) I trust you'll be able to find it though.

The only reason I wasn't sure if I wanted to try it is because I'm strictly wanting AOSP ROMs... I hate Touchwiz with a passion. So if I can't use any AOSP ROMs, I won't bother rooting it.
Hopefully they get the bootloader unlocked soon.

Would it be possible to Odin to a previous build that has an unlockable bootloader, root and then flash?

No that's not possible sorry. Wish it were that easy.
Look into SafeStrap compatible ROMs for the Verizon s4... There's a list on here of them. Some pretty cool ones that have the feel of aosp.
Or... Go on swappa and buy an MDK build which you can run aosp on.
